Excellent 'follow up' service. Had concerns about legibility of key pad & in-house 'settings. 'Anil' arrived by appointment & rectified .. was helpful & patient with his explanation of 'settings' .. all done under warranty

It only took a few days before my house was dryer and fresher. With a dryer house, come winter l found heating a dryer atmosphere quicker and the bonus of a lower power bill. Come summer with the air circulation l don't need to leave doors and windows open, which leads to no anointing flys and insects coming in,also no pollen causing hayfever. HRV whole house water filter, the big thing, no more chlorine. Water always fresh to drink straight from the tap, no skin irritation in the shower. The other bonus filtered water prolongs the life of my appliances, washing machine, dishwasher etc. Clothes washing, I get a cleaner wash with less detergent, another bonus.

One Star — Extremely Poor After-Sales Service and Warranty Handling. Would Not Recommend HRV.

My experience with HRV’s after-sales service and warranty handling has been extremely disappointing. Based on what I have experienced, I would not recommend this company to anyone considering purchasing a heat pump.

I purchased a Mitsubishi Electric heat pump in early 2022 through Energy Efficient Solutions (EES), whose business subsequently became part of HRV. The heat pump was supplied with an express five-year mechanical and installation warranty.

In July 2025, the system developed a refrigerant-loss problem. A technician attended, carried out testing and recharged the system. Unfortunately, the problem returned.

On 27 July 2026, I contacted HRV to report the recurrence of the same problem. What followed has been an extraordinarily frustrating experience.

Despite repeated technician visits and pressure testing, the fault remained unresolved. On 19 August 2026, HRV removed the outdoor unit for workshop testing. As at 22 October, more than two months later, the unit has still not been returned or reinstalled.

Throughout this process, I have repeatedly had to chase HRV for information, updates and progress. On numerous occasions, I was left waiting for responses or had to follow up again when promised updates did not arrive.

I eventually contacted Mitsubishi Electric’s New Zealand distributor, Black Diamond Technologies, myself to establish what was happening with the warranty claim. I was able to obtain useful information directly that had not been clearly communicated to me by HRV.

Even establishing warranty coverage became unnecessarily complicated, despite the original supplier having provided an express five-year warranty and having received my purchase documentation previously.

HRV eventually confirmed that the outdoor heat exchanger coil was leaking. I was initially advised that HRV was pursuing a replacement outdoor unit, but subsequently informed that the original model was discontinued and that a replacement coil would be fitted instead.

I have agreed in principle to that repair, subject to written confirmation of the warranty covering the replacement part and associated work. I am still awaiting that confirmation and a definite date for the heat pump to be restored to operation.

After this experience, I have very little confidence in HRV’s warranty management or its ability to deliver a satisfactory, lasting resolution without further intervention on my part.

I accept that mechanical equipment can develop faults. That is precisely why warranties exist. What matters is how a company responds when something goes wrong.

In my experience, HRV has demonstrated unacceptable delays, inadequate communication and a lack of urgency in resolving a legitimate warranty claim. I have spent an unreasonable amount of my own time pursuing something that should have been managed professionally by the supplier.

I had a water filter system installed and have had nothing but trouble right from the start. I am not very impressed at all , I was told it would cut down the chlorine build up, but this is still happening. When the filter was put into my tank it was a very poor job and they had to send someone else out to fix it. The filter bowls keep getting major fractures at the bottom and cause major leaking. Tried getting hrv back out fix, but the cost is so expensive. I have again just got another Crack in the bowl , my plumber is looking at doing the job now and is very disappointed in the workmanship that has gone into the installation of this system. I feel I was sucked into purchase this. Have had problems since installation

Purchased a house with existing HRV system. Interestingly, soon after purchase we received notice from HRV that the system needed a service. ( detail was sent to house address and addressed to ourselves personally as new owners... HRV are quick at getting their claws in). Was a Gen1 system and service proved unacceptable. Long and short of it... we deleted the HRV monitoring electronic box and converted the system to a simple on/off switch. Much better at controlling when and if we need air from the roof space. Filter is now replaced personally. EVERYTHING quoted from HRV was expensive and interesting to note that after 3rd contact by HRV to get a service check they have given up. IF YOU REALLY THINK THESE SYSTEMS ARE WORTH INVESTING IN, READ

Worst company ever. Nothing but problems dealing with them 2 years ago when we had a water filtration system installed and it flooded our new home causing damage to personal belongings. Fought with them for months to get a reimbursement for the damage. It then took them over 6 months to provide an invoice and credit note for us to pay the account despite our repeated request that we wouldn’t pay on statements they sent out. Now we are up for a replacement filter and no one will come back to us as apparently they have no record of us in their system. I would absolutely recommend that people look to alternative companies before engaging this useless outfit. I can’t believe they are still in business.

After the first time changing the air filter the system started pumping dust from the roof into the house causing chest pain and eye irritation. Had it checked and filter replaced 3 times and it still does it. They don't respond and no support and now they no longer sell the air sense so assuming it's actually faulty but no help. Don't buy one!! Avoid this company at all costs. After reading further it seems this product is faulty. It's a plastic box and the filter is inserted on slide rails that warp with the extreme heat in the roof space which gets above 50 degrees in the summer. Obviously plastic can't handle high heat, stupid design.

Our System needed a replacement fan. HRV used some quite honestly deceptive language to try to tell us that was not possible and the only solution was a $2,500 replacement.

This included telling us the "electrical specifications" had changed. Obviously this is not a thing.

A quick search online and bought the OEM fan from EBM Papst and installed it.

$250 vs 1000% markup from a HRV.

Not impressed and wouldn't trust anything they say.

After a terrible start with trying to organise a repair by phone, taking 4 days and many calls to get an appointment we finally had a great result. Our technician Villi was so friendly, polite and knowledgeable on product and very efficient. He needed to take parts away for repair and intern he and his Team Leader Max spent their lunch break to fix the problem so Villi later that afternoon came back to fix the unit. I am very thankful to both men for going the extra mile and getting us up and running again.

Asked them to come out and fit new diffusers in a house we had just bought (old ones had gone yellow) and check why system wasn't working. They came out and discovered previous owner had taken the fan. Left without fitting the diffusers we asked for and charged $120 for the privilege. When we called to ask why they hadn't done what we asked they said they decided they would fit them when they came back to fit a new fan at a cost of $4000 something we did not want them to do. Aesthetically we wanted the diffusers replaced but were not bothered about replacing the fan just curious about what was going on and if it was a simple fix we might do it.

Amazing people installed our HRV system and did an excellent job. We had one installed in our previous home and really loved it so decided to get one for our recently purchased Town House. We love the fresh air it brings into our home, no condensation and it helps keep our home drier and warm. Great decision we made.

Awesome company to deal with. My old unit was no longer working so the technician sent all details to my Insurance company not once but three times. When I finally got the claim done HRV Taranaki were quickly on the job to get replacement system sorted. I can’t thank them enough for the brilliant service.

We have never regretted having our HRV system installed in our house. Even with double glazing we used to get condensation on our window sills in cooler weather. As soon as HRV was operating there was absolutely none! Even when the house has been locked up for a few weeks it always smells fresh and clean. The service people are always prompt and efficient with a professional appearance.

Excellent communication and customer service. Quick install and I could see the results within a day with improved home ventilation. The system delivers what is promised.

I had my HRV system installed a week ago, and I can already notice a significant difference. There's no more condensation, and the air feels much fresher and cleaner throughout the house.

The service was excellent from start to finish, with clear communication every step of the way. The installers were professional, efficient, and did a great job. I would definitely recommend HRV to anyone considering improving the air quality in their home.
