UPDATE
UPDATE: May 2026
Don’t use this company. We instructed them to administer our mother’s will and subsequent trust work set up for our disabled brother. After four years we were forced to refer them to the Legal Ombusman and Solicitors Regulation Authority and to switch to a different firm.
The most serious issues were to do with payment. Our estate money was held in a client account from which they helped themselves (a total of £42,000 without invoices, notification or explanation), on the last occasion despite clear instructions not to do so. There were long delays at every possible turn and communications from us were frequently ignored. The agreed fixed price for probate application was meaningless (endless “extras” - never itemised). A complaint after two years made no difference and it was clear by the end that they were simply trying to make as much money from us as possible.
IPC ignored all communications for a period of a year and we know now that this was in order to pass the time-out date of Legal Ombudsman investigations. They further demanded that we sign an indemnity against sueing them before releasing our client file to the new solicitor. They refused to pay the contractual client account interest until we went to the small claims court.
An SRA complaint failed because the company and its directors are unregulated. This is intentional. The single qualified solicitor is not a director and although regulated by the SRA, she was allowed to pass responsibility for the serious billing misconduct to unregulated directors.
They are a small company and take on far more work than they can handle, resulting in extremely slow progress. They describe themselves as expert in trust matters but we found their expertise to be very limited. I am 70 and it was the most unprofessional service I have ever experienced, causing the executors of the will several years of anger and stress. I remain astounded that they could get away to taking our money without permission and be unaccountable.
