first ever order was great!

I placed my first ever order from Kennys Bookshop and everything was great! From the price of the book to the shipping! The book arrived to Italy without any problems and it's amazing! I'm so happy! I'll be recommending this to my friends and I hope I can come to visit in person sometime!

REFUSING REFUND ON NON- DELEVERED ORDER 35 DAYS FROM ORDER DATE

Order undelivered after more than 35 days, I am experiencing difficulty & delay tactics obtaining refund from this seller. Where are my Batman/Wonder Woman books?

I’ve been ordering books from Kenny’s for a few years, ever since Book Depository closed, and I never had a single problem. But last August, that changed. My order was placed on August 21st (two books, totaling around 40 euros) but they never arrived. That was many months ago.

I sent an email on October 27th, and Kenny’s replied that replacement copies had been ordered. However, since that day, nothing has happened, and I never even received an email confirming that the copies had been shipped.

I explicitly stated that I did not want a refund—only the books - but they claimed to have sent replacement copies in November. Still, I received nothing.

Since then, I have sent several emails requesting the books or a refund, but received no response. On February 13th, I sent a final notice demanding a refund for an order placed six months earlier. That email was again ignored.

As a result, I initiated a chargeback claim through my bank. I also plan to file a formal complaint with the CCPC (Ireland).

I am very, very disappointed. Avoid this seller.

Best prices in the whole book market!

I’ve been using this bookshop for online orders for quite some time now, and Ihave to say… it’s one of the best! Not only do they have a wide collection of books, but their prices are always the best (products and shipping wise!). The books are packaged securely and the service is great! 100% would recommend anyone to buy from here, my favourite bookshop ever!!! :D

Not replying - sorted!

I have usually had very good experiences with Kenny’s Bookshop - really excellent, to be honest. However, my most recent experience was disappointing.
In November, I placed an order, and when it arrived, three books were missing. I contacted customer support and was informed that the missing books had been sent separately, which seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, those books never arrived.
I can understand that these things happen. But I followed up several times (some five emails) and received no response at all which was the really upsetting part. In the end, I had to purchase the books from another seller and have removed Kenny’s from my list of usual sellers.

Update 16/02/2026: Kennys Bookshop replied here explaining that there were email system issues and offered to look into the order KNY629960 and contact me properly.

Update 27/02/2026: Kennys Bookshop issued a nice refund. Given the prompt response and action, I have no doubt, it was only a fault in the email! Now that this is sorted, I can say I only had excellent experiences with Kennys Bookshop! Amazing bookseller!

I ordered two books and never received them

I ordered two books on January 4 and 5 and have not received them so far. I wrote several times to Kennys with no answer whatsoever, which is kind of rude to say the least. Honestly, not sure this is a good place to buy books online. BTW, Kennys, if you see this message, please don't apologise here for your image's sake, but provide me with a solution instead. Thank you!
Update 02/02/2026: Payment Cancelled in Paypal, never buying from this bookshop again.

I was skeptical of ordering when I read…

I was skeptical of ordering when I read some of these reviews, but my order came quick and in perfect condition.
The book I ordered was rare and I couldn't find it anywhere else.
I would order from Kenny's again

Order never arrived

I don't like to leave negative reviews of independent book stores, but it's been almost 3 months and my order (via AbeBooks) is nowhere to be found. I asked for tracking and it was never provided. I asked for a refund and got no response. Called and after waiting on the line for 3 minutes I heard the receiver pick up the call and end it. A little communication would be nice! Maybe don't order online from this seller.

We switched to a new email system before Christmas, and unfortunately, we have been having trouble for a few weeks getting all incoming customer service emails into our system. Kennys.ie with Alibris is dishonest and a waste of…

Kennys.ie with Alibris is dishonest and a waste of time and money. They sent me the wrong book not the one displayed and when I returned it for refund they did a Return to Sender to me repeatedly to avoid refund. That book crossed the channel more than eight times. At last the manager at the Post Office stepped in and paid the return postage again himself (£11.90) to ascertain the problem. It was returned to me again then finally Kennys.ie and Alibris acknowledged the return. So I had to pay return postage and the Post Office manager at Royal Mail also paid an additional return postage totalling £23.80 to return a book that I did not order. They are dishonest in that they had a pattern to advertise and display a book for sale that they did not have, and dishonest to Return to Sender the item repeatedly when I returned it. Kennys.ie with Alibris is a complete waste of money and time. I hope they got in trouble with the Royal Mail for their 'return' practices and customer service. This experience with Kennys.ie and Alibris lasted from December 2024 until June 2025. I will never buy another book from them again. (Excuse me, I was mistaken; it cost £11.90 twice to return the book. I still have the receipts and have edited the review.)

Hi Sabrina, I'm sorry to read that you had such a frustrating experience. Firstly that we sent the wrong book - that was a human error on our side and we apologise for that. If the book was for sale, it should have indeed been in stock and available to order. If items get returned to our bookshop in Galway, they come back via the Irish post service An Post, and we always handle them individually and contact the customers if needs be. I'm not sure why yours went over and back like this with Royal Mail - appreciate it was a very frustrating experience and apologise for that. Poor Customer Service

I have been buying books from Kennysbookshop for over three years, and their service was reliable. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has been extremely disappointing.

I placed order KNY612933 on Oct 9,2025, and even after nearly three months, the order has still not been delivered. What is more concerning is that I have sent multiple emails to customer service seeking an update or resolution, but I have received no response at all.

As a long-standing customer, I expected better communication and accountability. At this point, I have not received the book, a replacement, or a refund.

I hope Kennysbookshop takes this feedback seriously and improves how unresolved orders and customer communications are handled.

I ordered a book in early September

I ordered a book in early September. The latest the book was meant to arrive was late October. We are in December and I am still waiting. No refund, no replacement, no tracking information, no “hey, we are sorry it’s taking so long. Here is why…”, nothing. If you are taking people’s money you absolutely should be sending updates or be prepared to give refunds when you don’t fill the order. I can understand things being late and I can understand things being out of stock, but taking over 3 months and STILL no word is just unacceptable. I’ll never order from them again and if you want to actually receive your order, on time, I wouldn’t trust them if I were you. It seems about 20% of the time or so you’re not going to get what you paid for.

Validity period of Kennys gift tokens not indicated.

It would be helpful if Kennys indicated the validity period of their gift/book tokens on the tokens themselves and their website. I tried to order books using some remaining credit on a gift token and the token's code was not accepted. The gift token was issued 11 months previously. Gift tokens in Ireland, according to the Irish Consumer Protection law are valid for at least 5 years unless otherwise stated by the issuer. I inquired with Kennys by email about the validity period of their tokens but all I got back were automatic replies excusing the delay in answering or a message saying the matter has been referred to their IT dept. with no follow up. I have been ordering Books from Kennys for years but will no longer do so.

Non existent customer service

Ordered 3 books on October 2nd. 1 was delivered. The other 2 remain in processing for reasons unexplained. Kennys has not deniged to respond to multiple emails. Their customer service seems non existent now.
As of Nov 7, matters have been resolved to my satisfaction.

Extremely Poor

Placed order on 14th October and it's still showing as "in processing" on 27th Oct. I haven't received an explanation or update from Kenny's and no response to my emails.

Items purchased not in stock

I have purchased books from this place on two separate occasions. Both times, nearly a week has passed before they contact me to cancel the order and say there was an 'error with their stock levels'. I wouldn't waste my time with them again.
