We contacted Leak Doctor after dealing with an ongoing water intrusion issue that had been difficult to diagnose. The investigation was thorough and methodical. It was technical enough to explain the building-envelope issues properly, but written in a way that we could actually understand.

We had a leak around our windows, and we remembered that friends of ours had previously hired Leak Doctor. They spoke very highly of the company, saying the owners were Italian, extremely knowledgeable, and true experts in building envelope investigations.

Based on that recommendation, we booked an inspection without hesitation. Unfortunately, when the inspection took place, we realized the company had changed ownership. The new owner and his assistant performed what appeared to be a very superficial inspection.

My husband works in the oil industry and regularly reviews thermal imaging reports. As soon as we received the report, it was immediately obvious that it had been prepared by someone with very limited knowledge of building envelope science and thermography.

We asked our friends to share the reports they had received from the previous owners, and the difference was night and day. The quality, level of detail, and technical understanding were on a completely different level.

We eventually contacted the former owner. Out of respect for his request, I won’t share the details of our conversation, but he pointed us in the right direction to obtain the professional help we needed.

I debated whether to write this review because I generally don’t like leaving negative feedback. However, I believe the current ownership is benefiting from the reputation built by the original founders while providing a completely different level of service.

I’m a retired lawyer, and frankly, that’s probably fortunate for them because we simply want to put this experience behind us. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision.
