I was expecting to just view the quotes online - however I was bombarded with over 10 surveyors calling me within minutes of filling out my details and it was really overwhelming.

The survey seemed superficial to me. There were many boilerplate statements and suggestions to ask other contractors to examine more details. I expected they would do a deeper look. Maybe what they did was standard, just wasn't very helpful to me.

This was a quick and helpful guide to the possibilities in York. The only drawback was the vagueness about whether VAT should be added to the quoted prices.

All went well with using Local Surveyors Direct Ltd, I had plenty of response to my request that was a quite specific requirement, both in terms of the work I needed to be done, and the size of the job and time scale. Of the ten companies that responded all were sensible and local, one obviously meet my requirements, and I a have already had a meeting with them, they have reviewed the job, and I awaiting a quote for work I require to be done, which I will have in a few days time, which is great.
