Lovely welcome. Made to feel comfortable whether dining in or having a takeaway. Lovely ambience. Clean and smart place. Food is fantastic and really good value for money. I'd recommend the tuna sashimi donburi!

We’re so happy to finally have an authentic Japanese restaurant in Didcot!
The service was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, and the prices were very reasonable.

We came today with friends from the Japanese technology park, and every dish we ordered was genuinely authentic and full of flavour. Everyone enjoyed the meal, which says a lot!

This will definitely become one of our regular places for group dinners. Highly recommended!

My wife and I have enjoyed two visits to Meisaku over the past month. I enjoyed our initial visit. But greatly appreciated our second visit.

Many of the Japanese / sushi restaurants in the West Berkshire / Oxfordshire area orient their offerings to the "standard" taste buds of their English clientele. Meisaku seems to back off from strong flavours, instead they let the subtle flavours come out for our enjoyment.

Over the years, I've come up with standard tests for an Asian restaurant. The care which a new restaurant gives to an "easy" standard gives a strong suggestion to the care the give to their other dishes. [e.g., simple dishes which are very difficult to get done well.]

For Chinese: shrimp with lobster sauce.
For Thai: Pad Thai.
For Japanese: miso soup.

Many of the high street Japanese shops bring the saltiness forward. And even tho these vendors were frequent (and very enjoyable and thus frequently repeated) lunch visit when I was working in Reading.

For our second visit, along with Meisaku's tempura (very nicely done. no undercooked dough, but also not overcooked), we had bowls of Miso soup with our lunch.

For the first time in a >very< long time, I had to set down my soup spoon and allow myself the time to enjoy the soup's umami taste as it crept out from the other tastes being offered by this simple (yet complex) dish.

So Kudos to the chef for honouring the flavours of his ingredients and his restraint in letting their flavours come through.

And note that it is very convenient to the cinema. So enjoy before (or after) a movie.
