I passed—so excited
I passed—so excited! The course is super efficient and gets right to the point. Dr. Somas and the staff are always there to help, and I loved connecting with so many other IMGs. Such a great experience all around. Definitely recommend!
all 5 star reviews are fake reviews…
all 5 star reviews are fake reviews made by the owner, absolutely terrible class I failed my step 1 exam thanks to them, total waste of time and money, they teach wrong outdated concepts that will set you up for failure. AVOID THIS CLASS AT ALL COSTS, Mr. Somas is a rude impolite and unprofessional FRAUD AND SCAM that will cause you to fail you on your exam,.
The Great NYSCPREP School!
- CK exam taken in September 2020. SCORE 254. Thank GOD!
- One of the courses I attended last year was NYCSPREP CK revision in New York for 6 weeks. They allowed me to join their Skype class after the course at no extra cost.
- At one point I thought I needed to go back to attending the live class in person again for revision. Dr Somas agreed that I attend the whole thing again without any extra charge. The Coronavirus pandemic prevented me from going back in person, although the ongoing Skype revision was always available for free.
- Many thanks to Dr Somas and the whole the team of instructors: David, Pooja and Sade. Sade is a bloody good instructor and pays extraordinary attention to detail! I also liked Theresa's great teaching on skype but never met her in person.
WHY I CHOSE NYCSPREP FOR CK EXAM?
- The answer is simple; I had been to Dr Somas's CS exam prep as one of the courses I did before I passed the exam. He is a great teacher who simplifies difficult aspects of the preparation. At the time, Dr Somas had agreed that if I wanted I could go to the center for one month to practice at no additional cost. I appreciated this very much, although I ended up not attending for that long.
MAIN THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE JOINING NYCSPREP:
- You can join the revision course for the first week (and possibly the second) as a trial without paying anything. If you like it, then you sign up and pay.
- MAKE SURE THAT YOU AGREE IN ADVANCE BEFORE YOU SIGN UP FOR THE REVISION, THAT YOU WANT TO REMAIN THEIR STUDENTS AND CONTINUE TO ATTEND UNTIL YOU PASS. Although it does not cost anything extra, I do not think this is an automatic right for students.
- My experience has been that NYCSPREP was not just a revision course that you attend and then you are on your own. They allow people to keep attending the live and online revision until they pass without extra charge. I even know that there were students attending on and off for eight months or more! For this reason, I call them “NYCSPREP SCHOOL” NOT JUST “NYCSPREP”!
I got a 264 in Step 2 CK with NYCSPREP…
I got a 264 in Step 2 CK with NYCSPREP online course. I took the course in May-June 2020. The instructors Pooja, Teresa, & Hardik were brilliant and knowledgeable & helped me a lot. I made a friend in the course who helped me review UWorld questions. I studied for 4 months and also used the AnkingMed anki deck for CK. They even allow to retake the course a 2nd time which I think is super helpful.

Failed my USMLE step 1 exam with very low score after taking NYCS prep class, it was an utter waste of time and money. The instructors are incompetent and did not answer any of my questions, they also treated me like I was stupid when i did not know something, they read out of kaplan books and plagiarized. I definitely do not recommend them, their new york center is very small and cramped and not as advertised.
They also pay people to write fake success reviews dont be tricked by them

One of the best decisions taken
One of the best decisions taken
I was in New york for a rotation and a friend recommended me to attend NYCS prep for step 2 CS. I booked for the weekend classes on jan 24-25-26 and went in with a friend.
To our surprise it was an amazing experience to be a part of it. From the front desk staff to the SP’s everyone was so helpful and kind.
You can learn the theory from books but until you experience it live, you won’t get the confidence to rock the exam. The mock test is designed in a way to test your limits and prepare you for the worse. It was so much fun and such a great learning experience.
It is Dr.Somas who goes into each and every minute detail and makes you golden. He has a very experienced and organised team which helps you throughout the journey, be it step 1, step 2 CK, step 2 CS or clinical rotations.
I highly recommend everyone to go and get a real feel of the actual exam at NYCS prep.
I passed my CS with a star in CIS and I want to dedicate this success to the faculty at NYCS prep.
NYCSPREP is the best
NYCSPREP is the best place to go for step 2CS exam prep. The team of Professionals at NYCSPREP is phenomenal and the customer service is excellent.
I was totally clueless on day 1, afraid to take a history or examine a patient because I felt so unprepared and like a fish out of water. Dr Somas and the team transformed my fear into confidence. Having the chance to practice with other students and SPs was a grand experience that boosted my confidence and improved my performance.
Special thanks to Tony and George (SPs) for their help. They released the crippling effect that fear had on me and propelled me to a splendid victory.
Thank you team NYCSPREP. I appreciate you
NYCS Step 2 CK Course Review
I took the NYCS Step 2 CK course and it helped me understand the general concepts as well as have a broader overall knowledge of CK. I did not take Step 1 before Step 2 CK so I was so lost trying to study by myself so decided to go to NY and take the course in person. This is the best move I have made while preparing for USMLE.
This is a 6 week course but even after the course ends, you can sit in on the classes again on topics you are having trouble with which I did with a couple of IM topics. The course goes over the principles in a high yield fashion and towards the end of class, there is a review of CK questions.
I highly recommend the course as the tutors that are currently there (Puja, Sade, Theresa) are very knowledgeable and will get you through all the relevant information.
I recommend taking the course in person as there are other students in the course as well as a study area/library so you can study with others who are preparing for CK after taking the course in the morning.
The Only and Best CS Course to Prepare for STEP 2 CS
A close friend of mine had recommended me to NYCSPREP and I believe this is the best decision I have ever made in my medical school career and will not regret it at all. Personally, STEP 2 CS was by far the most anxiety-inducing exam I’ve ever taken thus far, so this course really helped me out a lot. The 3-day course that is offered was beyond my expectations. The real work in preparing for my STEP 2 CS was the practice that I had to do for my cases and the NYCSPREP center gives an excellent setting for that. Each room comes with all the equipment that will be available to students on their STEP 2 CS test day and is open to the students there for them to practice after their 3-day course. You can always find someone to practice with. The facility in itself is very new and clean. In terms of my CS practice, I had previously struggled with the ICE portion especially the note taking portion. Dr. Somas will give you a framework for your notes and will always go over the content to see if it supports the differentials that you have written. He will stay late just to go over your notes with you and gives you feedback. Furthermore, he will also give you feedback with other students so that you can compare your notes with others so that you can see where you can improve. Dr. Somas goes above and beyond for his students and is there to help you succeed. In terms of the mock exams, I would recommend doing two mock exams. Both mock exams are 10x harder that the real CS exam, but I believe it is better to be overprepared than underprepared. The first mock exam will really sort out your weaknesses and show you what to improve on for the second mock exam. The SPs will always give their feedback after every encounter. All in all, I am very grateful to Dr. Somas and his team for allowing me the skills that I needed to learn in order to pass this exam as well as now be able to use these new skills hopefully as a clinician in the future. Thank you, Dr. Somas, again!!!
Perfect CS Prep Course
I recently gave my Step 2 CS after taking the NYCS course and passed with a high performance score in all three aspects. This was my second attempt after i had failed my first attempt by one star in SEP. I was a little shocked after my exam results on the first attempt because i have been living in the US for a while now and didn't expect to be marked low on SEP. It was at such a time when i came across the NYCS course and i am so glad that i took this option. The 3 day course is so thorough ,Dr Somas does an amazing job at going in covering the syllabus and goes through everything that's necessary to ace the exam.
The whole NYCS team is very friendly and cordial, always ready to help and clear all your doubts. The mock test was similar to the actual test experience and is great to give you a good exam day experience. I would recommend taking 2 mock tests at least so that you can learn from your mistakes in the first and apply it in the second test,
The fact that they allow us to use the facility even after the 3 day course is the best thing possible because one needs a lot of practice to get the required things done in the allotted time. The feedback on the notes is so useful for this exam and i am sure that it'll help me throughout my life as a clinician.
If you need extra help with your spoken English then james does a really good job and gives a few excellent tips for the test.
Don't look any further , this is the perfect step 2 CS center to go to!
They genuinely care about your training and it shows in the results
One of the best standardized prep courses I have taken. They are honest, instructive, and focused on the content. Step 2CS requires information, but mostly practice and this team enables that platform. I took the course over the weekend where Dr.Somas and his team will review ALL of the main points and procedures. Then you take a practice exam for your “baseline” performance. I took two weeks to practice, following his model, using the cases in First AID, and putting the notes into NYCSPREP website. The weekend before my exam I had another practice test and then was ready to go the following week scoring a high performance in each category (3 stars) . As background, I studied medicine in Italy and have been doing research for the last year, so I was out of clinical practice . One of the best parts of this class is the ability to utilize the center even after the weekend course to practice. That is also the best way to get in touch with Dr. Somas and the tutors. They offer distant reviews, but my recommendation would be to stay in NY for at least one week to take the course, practice, and then a second practice exam to be prepared. There are a lot of overpriced study programs out there, so it is refreshing to see a center that genuinely cares about your education/training as a doctor and puts students first. This is worth your time and money, as my test results may suggest.
Step 2 CS success!
I went to NYCSPrep through the recommendation of a friend and I could not be happier with my decision to take the review course. I have not had clinical experience in a while and was anxious about tackling Step 2 CS. Dr. Somas was very straightforward and thorough with his lessons that, in 3 days, we covered everything from how the test is broken down, how it will be scored, what is expected of us during the exam, what should be included in the history and how to do a focused physical exam. It seemed overwhelming at first because I felt like I knew minimal to nothing and came in without reviewing First Aid. After the review course, we were free to come in and use the facilities. It was easy finding people to practice with, and within the first week I had my history and PE down to 13 minutes. Writing the note was a challenge for me because I did not know how to format it and I felt as if my HPI made no sense. With the help of Dr. Abhiram Pillai, I was able to improve my note drastically within a few days. Dr. Abhiram was very nice and friendly, he made sure to come up to us to see if we would like to have our notes reviewed. He would copy and paste the HPI to notepad and reformat the data collected so that it flowed and was precise. He also taught acceptable typing shortcuts come test day. It was because of him I was able to structure my note in such a way that I could describe my three differential diagnoses within the first few sentences, along with the relevant qualifiers per symptom. The mock exams and SP sessions were also extremely helpful in guiding my studies and preparing me for my exam.
Overall, I highly recommend NYCSPrep for anyone who wants to feel comfortable and confident in taking Step 2 CS.
CS passed with the help of NYCS!
I did my cs in Phily on Feb 27 and passed! My notes and PE was the weakest part. I took a mock test and spent 5 days practicing in the NYCS rooms. The mock test was hard but I found the review session most helpful. Dr Somas taught us how to write notes sentence by sentence. Moreover, NYCS has a super nice notes instructor, Abhiram, who reviewed my notes and pointed out where I need to improve every case I practiced. I felt my improvement everyday there. Going to NYCS is the best decision I made during my CS preparation. I can't be more thankful for all the help I got from NYCS Dr Somas, Abhiram, and my practicing partners there. I highly recommend NYCS for CS preparation!
Step 2 CS Prep
I struggled with CS until I discovered Dr. Somas' program. I did a weekend course with 2 mocks and am so happy I signed up because I passed! Dr. Somas really teaches you how to ace CS- from streamlining your thought process to being the most efficient at performing a physical exam. He walks you through each part of the exam day step by step (i.e. what to do at the doorway up until you submit your note) which was incredibly helpful. After the course is over, you still have access to the center which is amazing as I got to practice with other students from my course. Dr. Somas will also check your notes from cases you have practiced on with other students. As for the mocks, they are incredibly hard but such a worthwhile learning experience. If you feel down after your mock results, do not be discouraged! The SPs will give you feedback and you can talk to Dr. Somas who will give you additional feedback on how to continuously improve. Don't walk....RUN to this course!
Highly recommend
I took their CS course about 4 days prior to my exam. I regretted for not taking it earlier. Their CS course is the best and the only thing you need to pass this exam. Take it at least 2 weeks prior to your exam since they kindly let you use their facilities for free for 2 weeks after the course. During these 2 weeks, you will meet amazing people whom you can practice with. They have the setting exactly like the real testing center which is really helpful. I recommend you to read the first aid for CS book before the course to get the most out of this course. I’m so thankful for this course. Every penny worth it.
Great place to practice
Great place to practice, also, step 2CS sps' here preps students well
PASSED CK!
PASSED CK!! Did the Step 2 CK course over 6 weeks and it was great! The tutors are doctors who have scored highly on CK and passed on their knowledge. The course is structured in a way where students are taught a specific topic and then that is applied to a specific USMLE question, which allows you to understand how to approach the question. No other course is similar to this and I would highly recommend this course for anyone preparing for step 2 CK!
Passed my test in Philly !
Hi Dr Somas, the SPs and the team! I received my score report a few days ago and passed! Took my test in Philly and the mock exam prepared me for the worse.
Thank you NYCS Prep!
You saved me
Doctor Somas, you saved me! I received my score yesterday and I passed! Fear of the unknown and problems with proper time managment are your worst enemies when taking the CS exam. I am a FMG and nobody tells us how to PROPERLY prepare for this exam. Books are insuficient. A friend that failed the exam and later passed recommended Dr Somas and I am glad that I listened to him. I felt very confident during my session and the time managment techniques he teaches were crucial for me. Didn't even have to study. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
The course was great
The course was great. It gave me what I needed to pass this exam easily. The patients were really helpful to practice with. I got reliable feedback that helped me improve. I cannot recommend them enough.
