NO RESPECT OR APPRECIATION FOR THEIR LONG-TERM CUSTOMERS
My mother 85 years old has been a loyal customer of OLUMS of Binghamton for years. She has a incredibly high credit score never, been late on a payment and adamant about paying her bills and responsibilities ,not only on time but early. Her record is flawless. Last year she purchased a dishwasher from OLUMS. The date of her last payment was approaching she unfortunately was hospitalized with a broken hip. She had not received yet her mail in the hospital therefore to make sure her payments went through she wrote checks out to several different companies to assure that they would receive their her payment on time. Poems would have been her last $57.69 payment. She had a family member assisting her she wrote out the check her name address phone number or on the check the bank's name address phone number or on the check it was the same check she had used the same bank for each previous payment to OLUMS of Binghamton. Due to having a bit of a shaky hand she accidentally had signed over just ONE of the account numbers on the bottom of the check and put her OLUMS account number on the check and mailed it on its way. When OLUMS put it through the check reader of course that little tiny bit of ink from one letter of her signature was throwing off the account number. Completely understandable. She received no phone call she received no email (she did have her tablet at the hospital)) she received no letter by regular mail explaining that this was an issue. Instead OLUMS OF BINGHAMTON sent the check back to the bank with no explanation leaving my mother to believeIthe bill was satisfied and later wondering why it had not yet cleared the bank thinking the check had been lost in the mail. Upon returning home she was able to call OLUMS and the bank to understand what had happened.OLUMS is insisting that she pay $199 to resolve this situation when she truly is due to pay $57.69. they are completely unwilling to understand that she was in ill health they are completely unwilling to accept proof from the hospital that she was hospitalized they are completely unwilling to make any kind of exception for this woman who has exceptional credit not only with them but overall. I am sharing the story on social media and we will never out of 45 family members and extended family members do any business with all them again and we will put out a warning that this is how they handle their business and this is how they care for loyal customers and elderly people who have been customers for so so many years.
