An impressive small motel
From the outside, this motel looks like it is nothing special, cheap even. And its price is less than the others in the area. When I arrived, I went into the small office and was greeted by the owner (I think) and his wife. The check in was quick and easy. Most of the rooms are on the ground floor, with only a few on the second floor. It is nonsmoking of course, but they had a chair and ashtray outside each door, where there was also a light. It was well lit at night and felt pretty safe. I was very impressed with the room! It was spacious and very clean. The carpet even looked new. It was well lit, with 3 lamps and an overhead light. There was a desk, a table with 2 chairs, and a TV stand with 3 drawers. There was no closet, but there were several hangers on a bar near the door. The bed was very comfortable. There was a small refrigerator, a microwave, a TV with HBO, an ironing board, iron, and a hair dryer; it also had free wifi. There was also a coffee maker, with 1 package of coffee, 2 creamers, and 3 Splenda. That was one of the problems with it: it should have had more creamers and should have had sugar (not all of us are on a diet). There was an air conditioner/heater unit it that you could adjust yourself; the heat worked great, got the room warm quickly. There was an alarm clock/cd player which was turned off, but I couldn't figure out how to set it, so I'm not sure if anything worked on it. (I bring my own clock from home, so it wasn't an issue.) I don't know if they do wake-up calls. The sink was located outside the bathroom, which was nice. It had a huge mirror; they also had another, full length mirror in the room. The bathroom itself had a clean and working toilet and a bathtub. Yes, a real bathtub! All the rooms came with one. It's next to impossible to find a hotel with a bathtub these days! It was a good size and comfortable. The water was easy to turn on and adjust the temperature; it heated up quickly and never ran out of hot water. They provided only 1 small bar of soap and 1 small packet of "conditioning shampoo". This was disappointing and not enough. The towels were awful! Small, thin, and scratchy. They definitely need to update them with large, fluffy ones!
So overall it was great, but I gave it only 4 stars instead of 5 because of the towels, the bathroom supplies, and the coffee supplies. The room was so comfortable, large, and clean that it really impressed me, and it was a perfect room for my time in Hastings. I will definitely stay there again.
