Phillips Solicitors was established in 1986. Brain Chase Coles Solicitors was established in 1995. Both firms merged on 1 February 2020. The merger was an important step towards our goal of building the region’s strongest dynamic, full-service law firm, whilst maintaining the traditional values that both firms were built on. In 2021, Phillips acquired Henley’s Solicitors. In 2022, we became Phillips Law.

Remortgage experience
We have used Phillips a few times now. This time was for a remortgage and they were extremely good yet again. Catherine Killeen in particular was instrumental in driving the process forward and pushing our lender to move things along quickly. I would highly recommend them.

Property Sale
I have Power of Attorney for my father who is in care and his property needed to be sold to help with the fees. I would like to thank Lisa Rigby and Catherine Killeen and Jackie Waller for the service provided during this process. There were several issues that needed to be resolved prior to completion and I was kept informed of how these were progressing. When these had been resolved, the buyer wanted to complete very quickly. Thanks to Jackie and Catherine for getting the exchange and completion finalised in such a short time-frame

My late Father had chosen Phillips Law…
My late Father had chosen Phillips Law to draw up his Will, so who better to help me execute it?
My initial meeting with McBriggs Antwi‑Boasiako - 'Briggs' - was a revelation to this grieving son.
Briggs' knowledge and experience shone as he summed up my situation and then explained the procedures to obtain Probate. He quickly dispelled the trepidation I was feeling towards carrying out my task as executor.
From then on all communication was by email. Documents were scanned and passed between us as attachments. When necessary, I printed, signed, and returned them by post.
Given the very long travel distance between PL's office and my home this arrangement was extremely convenient.
I asked many questions along the way and Briggs always gave prompt concise answers.
The business is now concluded, to our mutual satisfaction - and my relief!

Everything was explained in great detail, I never had to chase for information-received regular updates which were very helpful. The case was dealt with with great sensitivity.

A professional service with a positive approach
Phillips Law is conveniently located in Basingstoke. Their meeting rooms are modern, warm and private. All staff are welcoming, pleasant and professional without being formal or officious. Whilst not cheap (what service is these days?), their communication was timely, they listened to my requirements and reacted positively; they provided an excellent service. Sarah Parker concluded my requirements sympathetically and effectively with a positive approach and sound advice.

Will Update
Changed family circumstances required my Will to be updated to include a discretionary trust. Sophie Barton was most helpful and explained everything in the clearest terms. Phillips Law are well established Basingstoke Solicitors which I highly recommend.

I did not feel the mediation was…
I did not feel the mediation was particularly impartial, or that my voice was necessarily heard. It felt that the mediator had preconceived interpretations of our situation based purely on information provided by the other party. I raised concerns around missing/incomplete information and do not feel this was addressed prior to the consultation. As a consequence I felt that I wasn't listened to and somewhat 'railroaded' during the mediation session.
