Amazing surf villa
Rapture surf villa, Ericeira, Portugal.
The villa in itself is amazing architecture. I loved all the rooms, and especially the view from the dorm. The quality of the build of the beds, the mattress and duvets were above anything I’ve experienced in a dorm before.
The area around is amazing for walks along the coast - checking out all the local surf spots, and there is a cool bar up the street. The staff (Leo, Alex or Daniella) would take us back and forth between the villa and the camp. When going into Ericeira I would just walk er take an Uber/Bring, if no one was heading that way.
The staff was so nice and service minded - in a way that made me feel genuinely welcome, and as more than a guest. They all had different competencies, that made it so easy to not only be around them, but to have meaningful conversations, and at the same time I could also just be in my own space in their presence. Oh, and they cook really well too.
The activities were of such a high quality. I did surf lesson with Oscar, João and Brafna. And got lots of turns and great feedback and input on technique, how to progress and how to play and enjoy the surf - especially from Brafna. He made me feel like there is a long amazing surf journey ahead of me, and that he was preparing me for it. Surfed with the same group of people and we were max 5 pr. instructor. The sessions were long, which was really nice too. Foz is a nice sandy beach. It was also “easy” to free surf there, since you had your board and wetsuits close. Let’s not forget the amazing photos from the photographer. Looked like I was on a photoshoot 🤩
Breathwork with Fabio was really an eye opener and made me feel more confident in the water after learning how to hold my breath and feeling the sensation of a good tumble with the pool exercise.
Surf theory with Oscar was also really good. Should have gone for more of those.
My surf skate technique got a good push from the bowl session in Mafre skatepark with Raul (and Oscar). Maybe I can do a drop in next time 😉
The activities, pizza night and the bbq made it easy to meet people staying at the camp. I also felt really welcome there even though I was staying at the villa.
I cried when I left. I think that sums it up quite well ❤ I would be an idiot if I didn’t want to come back!
