Abby hosted my daughter’s birthday party and I couldn’t fault a single thing about it! Communication was excellent, right from providing the invites and the thank you goody bags to entertaining a group of teenage girls for 2 hours. Can highly recommend these partys!!
Very disappointing experience with the Barnet branch
Our daughter joined as a confident child who loved performing and had always enjoyed drama. Over time, we started to notice a clear drop in her confidence and enthusiasm.
She began coming home from class upset and saying things like she was “never chosen” and “not good enough”. For a child who used to love performing, it was really hard for us to watch her lose that confidence.
When we raised our concerns with the school, we were hoping for a supportive conversation, but instead the situation escalated rather than being handled with care.
For a place working with young children, we expected a much more understanding and supportive approach.
Edit: Following the school’s response, I feel it is important to clarify that our concerns were never about a “Star of the Week” certificate, but about the experience our daughter had at the school and the impact it had on her confidence.
The response itself is telling, as it focuses on a single point rather than engaging with the wider concerns raised about a child’s experience. From reading other reviews, it appears that similar concerns have been raised by other parents.
For an organisation working with young children, the lack of reflection and accountability is difficult to ignore. It raises serious questions about how concerns from families are listened to and handled.

They are all about money and after inviting young students into their cohort of west end performing. My 9 year old was told twice she couldn’t go to the bathroom when she needed it. She ended up having a. Accident after being allowed to go too late with a leotard on. She continued the rehearsal with a load of teenagers which was extremely embarrassing for her,

Was great at first then quickly realise it is a money train you pay to watch and even breath any razz air they want to sign you up to any extras but not for the purpose ie trading squad wasn’t ever entered in any competition you have to pay to get any awards and when you finally leave they ignore you . Franchising failure

My daughter has been part of Razzamataz since she was just 4/5 years old, and it has been one of the best decisions we ever made. Through Razz, she has had so many incredible opportunities, from performing on stage in shows, to dancing at Disneyland, and even gaining the confidence to audition for outside opportunities like panto, which she successfully took part in!
My daughter has always been outgoing and loved making new friends, but as she grew up, her natural confidence began to fade. Since joining Razzamataz, that confidence has blossomed again. Every time she walks through the door, it’s like her worries melt away. She absolutely adores everything about Razz… the dance, acting and singing, Project Intense, and most importantly, the wonderful staff, children, and friends who make up this amazing community.
Razzamataz isn’t just a hobby for my daughter anymore, it’s truly become a huge part of her life, her routine, and who she is. The skills she’s learning will stay with her forever, but more importantly, so will the memories, friendships, and confidence she’s gained.
Thank you Razzamataz for everything you do. You’ve given her not just skills, but joy, confidence, and lifelong memories. 💜
Great experience
My son Daniel started Razzmatazz Newbury just under a year ago and absolutely loves it. He is excited every week to attend and has the best time. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are amazing, trustworthy, helpful and friendly.

My daughter joined last October after belonging to a different theatre school all her life. Understandably she was very nervous but was made to feel so welcome that she felt like she had belonged there forever! The opportunities that Debbi has given these young people are phenomenal from working with professionals to performing on west end stages! All the crew are passionate and knowledgeable about what they do. My daughter always looks forward to going- even when exhausted from a busy week she will always bounce in to Razz on a Saturday morning! It’s a truly special place.
An amazing company to work for
An amazing company to work for! Debbi is as kind and thoughtful to her Chaperones, she is all the children and members of staff who come to Razz. I dip in and out helping out where needed, and am made to feel just as welcome as everyone else.
Wow!
Wow!! What a weekend! I had the privilege of watching 3/4 shows & they were all outstanding! The care, hard work & dedication of the team was truly reflected in each show! My girls absolutely LOVE their Razz family, it has given them so much friendships, encouragement & endless performing opportunities! I can’t thank you all enough! Well done team Razz Newbury & all the kids 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

My daughter loves Razzamataz Newbury
My daughter loves Razzamataz Newbury, she has been going now for about 8 months. Her passion is performing arts and this school enables her to leaning new skills, uplift her skills already and give her confidence to perform. Just went to a performance at Arlington arts and all the student were professional, the skills level for the ages is amazing. Highly recommend this as an all rounder performing arts school.
Takes your money and ignores you
Absolutely appalled by Razzamataz Newcastle. They promised to accommodate my child and their disability, offering weekly updates to reassure us they were coping okay in the classes - so we signed up to the direct debits. We never received a single update and felt like they had just left our child without any support. Upon expressing our concerns we eventually got an email back admitting they had not done what they promised and they didn't think that the classes were suitable for our child at present. They said they would be in touch about cancelling the contract. It's been weeks and our emails are just being ignored. We expressed our desire to leave weeks ago and requested our money back for the weeks our child did not attend after telling them we were unhappy and leaving. They broke their promise made at the start of the contract and couldn't accommodate my child - I should not have to pay for their failings.

The Razzamatazz school at Chelmsford has been absolutely superb since my daughter started 2 years ago. She loves the performances as do the parents. Highly recommended.
RAZ Mansfield Notts
There's a lot of positives in sending your child to a theatre school if the school is run properly.
At this particular Raz the phrase (you have to be in the click) is moulded into its stage foundations which is sad because there is a lot of confident children falling under the radar. I speak on behalf of my own child who I'll not refer to as he/she they've been going now for 4 years & in that time he/she has only been praised once with a star of the week (4 years) now I won't big up my child and say he/she is confident if their not & I certainly wouldn't spend the amount of money I have for 4 years & will continue to do so if I thought they wasn't getting enjoyment or anything out of it. However in 4 years my child hasn't got so much as a pat on the back even when a few years ago they were running short on students attending the main May performance because their parents had decided to take them on holiday ... They asked if my child would step up & come to all the shows that weekend to accommodate Raz which is fine & they did but to not even give my child a star of the week the following weekend for just effort was abysmal... My child comes home deflated most weeks ....he/she goes to Raz excited but then gets in the car & says "it's the same kid as the other week mum & she didn't even do much today" ( as a teacher myself you have to reward children to keep them interested.
My child has bags of confidence he/she stands up on stage and effortlessly does what she needs to do with no red face in sight & with a loud clear voice (i see this myself when I attend their performances so you can understand my frustrations when it gets them NOWHERE at Raz. I did start to question whether they wasn't confident maybe they're different at Raz but to see them perform on the odd opportunities we get as parents I have my doubts erased especially when others come to me & say they did great so clear & loud it just doesn't make sense to me to never get recognised.
I am reviewing all star of the week photos every week for the past several months when they get released on s/m & 9/10 times it's the same few children every few weeks your schools funding isn't based on just a handful of children ... We all pay the same amount. I write this review in the hope something changes I don't know how star of the week works but surely even if the most quietest kid in the back comes out of their shell one week that should be praised right ... To boost their confidence more that's all a child needs we don't send them to theatre school to hide in the shadows forgotten about. It's annoyed me that much that if something doesn't change I'll be sending them to Stagecoach which is heartbreaking as they've made friends at Raz.
I will add the teachers are warm & friendly enough but they definitely have (favourite children) that get recognised every week. I have raised this along time ago now with a teacher but nothing's changed

Disappointing Experience at Chester Razzamataz
This review is specifically for Chester Razzamataz, as I can’t speak for the other Razzamataz schools.
Having had a positive experience with another dance school, I had high hopes when my child joined Razzamataz. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. The entire set-up felt like organised chaos, and I was left questioning what I was paying for in the end.
Firstly, the environment is extremely cliquey. It’s obvious that certain children are favoured by the staff, which is quite disheartening. After my daughter’s first session, I was keen to receive some feedback on how she was getting on, but the teacher didn’t even know which parent I was. When I asked for feedback, it was vague and repetitive each week. Despite attending for several months, my daughter was never once recognised with ‘Star of the Week’. I understand that she may not have been the best, but these things should be done fairly to help build the children’s confidence.
The atmosphere was not a pleasant one, and I noticed a significant decline in my daughter’s confidence during her time there. Thankfully, she has since moved to a new performing arts school, where she is thriving and has regained the confidence that this place seemed to strip away.
The school is run by a very young individual, and it’s clear that there is a lack of experience. While the relatively low fees may seem appealing, I would recommend spending a little more elsewhere if you want a positive, confidence-building experience for your child. Unless your child enjoys playing "What’s the Time, Mr Wolf?" or pretending to be a toy from *Toy Story* for an hour every Saturday, I’d suggest looking at other options.

My daughter and son loves going razz
My daughter and son loves going razz, every week she gets so excited. We’ve just added on project intense and private singing lessons as she wants a career in theatre and they couldn’t be more supportive. My 4 year old was also able to perform in their yearly performance and really enjoyed it. They are very patient with the students especially the younger ones. We did have an issue with another student but it was very quickly dealt with. I’m amazed how far my SEND child has come in the year and a half she has been going there. I couldn’t thank them enough for everything they have done especially taking such fantastic care for my children.

I don’t have children attending at Razz, but I have known of friends’ children as well as teacher friends that have nothing but positive experiences of Razz!
I have my own small school, but I did look into franchising a Razzamataz many years ago. I was so impressed by their ethos, and the love and care that has been put into the brand and model to create inclusivity. I’ve also had friends that have worked for Razz too, and all have said how amazing the setup is for everyone involved. They’ve also won franchisee satisfaction awards too. If that doesn’t spell professional, I don’t know what will!
I’m a stickler for safeguarding, and proper compliant systems when it comes to children. However, Razz go above and beyond for their students & franchisees.
Amazing network!
