Just received my first order from…

Just received my first order from Robinsons of Bawtry and was impressed, not only with the speedy delivery, but the Boss Polo Shirt i ordered had an amazing price that couldn't be beaten anywhere else. Added to that were the nice touch of a free gift that arrived with my order all meaning I will definitely be ordering from here again!

Worse experience I have ever had

Worse experience I have ever had, bought a new, yes NEW moose knuckles coat. Unfortunately what I received was not new.
What I received smelt of aftershave on the collar, the tag had been stuck back together with glue and there were mud stains on the arm.
I do understand things get missed and if something goes wrong, this is where customer service is key.
I emailed them to be dismissed with ‘the smell will be the car air freshener in the box with the coat’.
I then went on to explain the tags had been stuck back on and there was dirt down the arms. I was told to send it back.
No sorry or an offer of an alternative or equivalent. They refused to pay my postage initially but then later someone that knew what they were talking about said it will not charge me.
Customer service were dismissing at each no point which made me feel undervalued and and confident I will never shop there again. Below is my email,

Good afternoon
Maybe when I had the discussion on the phone this should have been explained, not that you will reimburse the postage. If I then receive a dismissive email regarding postage having been told something else, why do you think this may be misinterpreted.

I think you have view this in a very blinkered manner, I spent a lot of money on a moose knuckles coat and every business should be focused on that experience thereafter if someone chooses to spend their hard earned money with your business. Let me tell you what I received.

Firstly a coat that smelt of aftershave with a car air freshener stuck to it, there were 2 obvious muddy marks on the right arm and on closer inspection I could see that the tag had clearly been removed and stuck back together with glue.

My first email received was that it’s just the air freshener it’s not aftershave.
I then raised the marks and tag issue and was told that I would have to pay for the return postage through Royal Mail which I followed the instructions and did. The agent told me they would refund the postage.

This is my experience Robinsons of Bawtry. I was offered nothing for the experience I had, I was offered no alternative option which I should have been as this was not my fault in anyway.

Clearly with the response I imagined it all. I have the images and can upload them if there was the capability.
Good customer service includes accountability. A simple we missed this and apologise would be a better response than excuses that are clearly false as my images confirm.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I’m sorry to hear that you felt your experience was not a positive one, as customer service is something we take very seriously at Robinsons.

I would first like to address your comment regarding the coat not being new. We are an independent retailer that has been trading for 40 years, and we only sell 100% genuine, brand-new products. We have never sold used items.

I personally inspected the returned coat. The swing tag had not been glued back together as suggested; the cotton string had simply frayed slightly. You sent images of the garment and mentioned that there were marks on the arm, however these were not present when the item arrived back to us. In relation to the scent noted on the collar, as with most online retailers, items are sometimes returned after being tried on. If fragrance is worn, this can occasionally transfer onto the fabric. We also explained in our previous email that we use an air freshener in-store, which can leave a faint scent on products. This was not a reference to the complimentary car air freshener included with every order. This is vacuum sealed in its own packaging and packed separately, with the coat wrapped in tissue paper. All orders are packed manually, and therefore, the air freshener would not have been attached to the garment.

Turning to the customer service aspect of your review, there appears to have been some confusion regarding postage and refunds. Your original order qualified for free delivery, as it exceeded £125. As stated in our returns terms and conditions, a £4.99 fee applies when using our Royal Mail returns portal. On this occasion, we agreed not to deduct this fee and issued a full refund, which was processed as promised. As no delivery charge was paid, or returns charge deducted, there was no postage to refund.

You also expressed disappointment that an alternative product was not offered. Unfortunately, no further stock of this coat was available, and we did not have a suitable alternative to suggest.

I’m sorry if at any point you felt dismissed or undervalued; this was certainly not our intention. We believe we acted fairly, transparently, and did everything possible to assist you throughout. We take all feedback seriously and continuously review our processes to ensure the highest standard of service. While we regret that your experience did not meet expectations, we stand by the quality of our products and the fairness of our policies, and we remain committed to serving all our customers with honesty and integrity.

Great brands and Great Prices

This was my first time purchasing online with this retailer. I had a very positive shopping experience. Wide variety of choice of products. Vast range of brands. Good stock levels. Very competitive pricing. Communication throughout was fab throughout, with a confirmation email received immediately confirming my order details and another email confirming delivery details. Delivery was fast and on time. Unfortunately the top I purchased for my husband did not fit and had to be returned. Return process is easy, with a step-by-step guide of what to do. I immediately received a email with a QR code to return my order via Royal Mail.

Tbh absolutely disgusted with the sneering attitude of the sales staff when we walked in. Very lucky I didn’t rip their heads off. We may not look like we have “money” but looks are deceiving

Unable to add discount code

Was given a discount code. There was nowhere to add it and the order was placed at the full amount. Contacted the company, and was told they are unable to add the discount. Called customer service to cancel order and they were unhelpful and disinterested. Will be returning item and not purchasing from them again

After reviewing the issue regarding the discount code you reported (after your order had been processed), we confirmed that the discount function at checkout was working correctly.
As explained, once an order has been completed and processed, we are unable to manually apply a discount code retrospectively. Any issues with a discount code must be reported prior to completing checkout so that we can investigate and resolve them before the order is finalised. This policy is outlined in our Terms and Conditions.

Additionally, when you contacted us to cancel the order, we advised that it had already been dispatched and, unfortunately, we are unable to intercept or cancel an order once it has left our premises. This is also detailed in our Terms and Conditions.

I am sorry that this is not the outcome you anticipated, naturally the team is disappointed that your experience was not felt to reflect the high standard of service we pride ourselves on, as we work extremely hard to deliver exceptional care to every customer in a very competitive retail sector.
