Potential customers should exercise extreme caution when considering ordering from Sam Dunkerley or businesses associated with him, including:

Sawdust Monkeys
South Devon Tabletops
Reclaimed Nation

These businesses have been associated with the Ivybridge, Devon area.

There appear to be multiple customers reporting similar problems — orders being only partially fulfilled, goods not being supplied, promises of refunds or outstanding items not materialising, and communication eventually stopping.

The concern is that partially fulfilling an order may make what is essentially a serious complaint appear to be nothing more than a normal customer/trader dispute.

In one reported case, the customer paid for eleven complete tables but received only eight table tops, with three tops and all eleven sets of legs missing. Despite assurances regarding the missing items and a refund, neither materialised.

The matter was reported to Devon & Cornwall Police, but the response was that because part of the order had been fulfilled, the transaction appeared to be from a legitimate business.

This is exactly why more people need to report their experiences.

If you have experienced similar circumstances, DO NOT simply walk away and assume nothing can be done.

Report your experience to Trading Standards/Citizens Advice, retain all evidence and make a formal complaint.

You should also consider contacting the local councillor for Ivybridge:

The more documented complaints, invoices, payment records, messages, advertisements, photographs and delivery evidence that are brought together, the harder it becomes for a potential wider pattern to be overlooked.

It is particularly concerning if changing trading names allows the same problems to continue affecting new customers.

Multiple documented complaints can demonstrate a pattern that demands proper investigation.

The man hides behind various company names...southdevontabletops,sawdustmonkey, reclaimednation to name a few...total conman and promises the earth and happy to take calls to a point where his lies simply run out.
The guy is easily traced yet the police do nothing to him.....I'm confident he wont be trading as anything for too much longer!

Scam! Completely avoid.

I’ve previously ordered from Sawdust Monkeys in the past and was impressed by their comms, products etc, but this latest situation has been incredibly frustrating.

They sent a parcel via ParcelMonkey which I suspect had incomplete address details on it.

My parcel has been sitting at DPD Middleton depot for over 3 weeks with no movement.

Timeline shows:
- Multiple “out for delivery” and “missed you” notifications (as I suspect a missing business name from the posted item)
- Since 20 March, the parcel has repeatedly been marked as “held at depot”
- Latest scan (13 April) still shows it sitting there

The biggest issue is that the parcel was booked via ParcelMonkey, which means:
- DPD won’t deal with me directly
- ParcelMonkey refers me to the sender
- Sawdustmonleys is unresponsive

So I’m effectively stuck with a parcel lost and no way to escalate it and the seller isn't helping in anyway.

Don't risk your money.

This is a scam. Took money and then never sent product. When emailed/messaged on social media about new business replies very quickly but ignores messages to deal with existing order. They have stolen from us therefore. The name the company contact goes by is SAM. Reported to trading standards. Do not use.

As others have said, I transferred them 400GBP and they have since taken my money and stopped replying to emails and of course no delievery of the item I ordered. I have emaield every day for a week, no reply. Scam.

Absolutely appalled by the service, or lack thereof. I placed an order through their website and the payment was processed immediately. When I followed up on the status, I was told they 'don’t use that site' anymore and haven’t for years. Instead of taking responsibility for leaving a live payment gateway active, they told me they have 'no clue' how I ordered and instructed me to do the work of filing a chargeback with my bank to get my money back.
It is incredibly unprofessional to leave a defunct shop online and then blame the customer for using it. If you value your money and your time, stay FAR away from Sawdust Monkeys. They are happy to take your cash but won't lift a finger to return it when they fail to deliver.

Same experience as per the other negative review. Stay well clear of this company!

Very quick to respond when securing new business, but once payment was made, the customer service completely disappeared. The wrong items were sent, and there has been little to no assistance in resolving the issue or arranging a return. Extremely disappointing experience and not the level of service I expected.

Scammers.

Ordered a tabletop. "SAM" said it was coming 10 days ago. Then, it kept getting delayed by one day. They provided shipping information, but the courier says they never picked up the parcel even though they claim to have shipped it. I will keep following up in good faith, but I am not sure it will ever arrive or if it will be of the quality that was promised.

Don't buy from them. If you must, for some reason, make sure you get them to agree to everything in writing as per the Consumer Rights Act 2015. But who wants to deal with that?

Following my bad experience, I researched them deeper and found a Trustpilot review of a company named "Made By Reclaimed" that claims they changed their name from "Sawdust Monkeys".

Then, I looked at the old website for "Made By Reclaimed" using the Wayback Machine and it *was* the "Sawdust Monkeys" website. Don't take my word for it. Go to archive dot org, type in madebyreclaimed dot co dot uk, and you will see it is the same company.

Their old MadeByReclaimed Trustpilot has lots of bad reviews, citing delivery delays, poor quality, or orders that never arrive. They are changing their name to escape the bad reviews.

Update 01/03: Thought I should also mention - they also pulled this 'ghost website' scam that the other reviewer mentioned. DO NOT order anything from their online shop. It is defunct, you will need to follow it up with your credit card or bank to issue a chargeback. Very unprofessional. I wouldn't be surprised if they were pocketing that money from exasperated customers who didn't bother following up.
