We're a small, family-run business based in West Wales, recycling whelk shells from our family's seafood processing factory rather than sending them to landfill. We crush, clean and dry the shells into a sustainable, decorative product ideal for use in the garden and beyond. The shells are available in various bag sizes from 1Kg to 800Kg bulk bags. Great for; Mulching garden beds. Useful for drainage in plant pots. Perfect as a decorative top layer in containers or pathways. Beautiful and sustainable. The perfect sustainable agrigate.
Incredible product 5 ⭐️. Not only is it sustainable but also divine in the garden especially when the light catches it. It sparkles. I absolutely love to use it from pot topping, to agrigate for paths its the perfect option. Customer service and response time is impeccable.

Innovative AND trendy- What's not to love?
My indoor plants have never looked so sexy!
What a great way to reuse a by-product.
I ordered a large bag of shells and a few other home bits. They all arrived perfectly packaged.
I'll be back for Christmas gifts. I've told all of my allotment friends about the shells, too. I'm planning to use it on my allotment next year and I'm working on landscaping a nice patch of the garden with spring bulbs covered with a layer of shells.

Not the experience I’d hoped for…
DPD delivery was late and box looked like it had been used for rugby practice.
One item slightly damaged, for which they gave me a small credit.
Feedback to company regarding the packing and delivery was met with, here are all the reasons our packer is great and we must use DPD.
This could have been informative for them, but they weren’t able to take the feedback in the spirit it was intended: here’s my customer experience, I thought you’d like to know.
I shan’t be ordering from them again, which is a shame, because they have a lot of things I’d like to buy!

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. In the interest of transparency for current and future customers, I’d like to share a little context from our correspondence so people can make an informed judgement.
When you first contacted us, you mentioned that while the outer boxes were damaged in transit, the glass vessels were undamaged “Miraculously, neither seems to be broken.” You also noted a small fault with one of the cork lids, for which we offered - and processed - a 25% refund for the faulty item after you kindly agreed to keep the item. Had you wished to return or replace the item, we would have been very happy to help arrange this.
Please rest assured that we take great care with our packaging, and every order is hand-packed by our small team. If the parcels had been as severely damaged as described, it’s unlikely that both glass terrariums would have arrived completely intact - though of course we understand how frustrating any damage to packaging can be.
We’re always open to constructive feedback and continuously look for ways to improve, but we do feel this review doesn’t fully reflect the situation or the steps we took to resolve it quickly and fairly.
Hopefully, anyone reading this will take a balanced view and see this in the context of our many positive reviews and excellent overall feedback from customers.

Great prices, free postage & probably the best packaged delivery I have ever received by courier (and there have been many). A+, 10/10, Top of the Class. Beautiful dressing for pots not so good against slugs & snails
Delivery seamless and quick, packaging lovely. I bought the crushed shells first and they dress pots rather beautifully. Didn't work so well for my kale which my ravenous hoard of slugs and snails have chomped despite the shell barrier. I now have some of the finer crush and hope to trial this for a barrier to my more delicate plants and veg...here's hoping 🤞

We’re so pleased to hear you love how the shells look as a top dressing - they really do add such a beautiful finishing touch to pots!
You’re right that results can vary when it comes to slugs and snails. The shells act more as a deterrent than a full-proof barrier - so if there’s already an infestation in the soil or compost, those determined little visitors can sometimes still find their way through.
Using the finer crush can help, as it creates a denser surface, and combining the shells with other methods (like beer traps or nematodes) usually gives the best protection.

Fabulous service from Shell on Earth
Very happy with the service from Shell on Earth. Ordered the crushed whelk shells directly from them after no longer being able to purchase the large bags from my local garden centre. I ordered them on a Sunday and they arrived on the Tuesday morning. As a beach lover and keen gardener they finish off my garden pots perfectly.

The product is satisfactory but the delivery by Royal Mail was atrocious it took seven days to recieve my parcel.

Thank you for your honest review, and I’m really sorry about the difficulty with your delivery. We completely understand how frustrating it can be when timings don’t align with your schedule.
As stated at the checkout, and in our earlier correspondence, our standard shipping service is 2–4 working days, and unfortunately we’re unable to guarantee delivery on a specific day. Once your parcel is handed over to Parcelforce, delivery is carried out under their policies. In some cases, depending on the parcel’s value or the local driver’s requirements, they may not be able to leave a parcel unattended even when a note is left.
That said, we are always looking for ways to improve our customers’ delivery experience. From 15th September, we will be moving our courier service to DPD, whose advanced tracking system should give customers more flexibility and control over their deliveries.
We value your order and are sorry this experience was not as smooth as hoped.
