Good food but too pricey for me

The Real Greek is obviously a good quality restaurant.

However, reviews must consider the context of price in proportion to quality and service.

Baring in mind, this is the most expensive lunch I've ever had, plus a 10% service charge.

They have a lot to live up to. My review must take into consideration what I have had to pay.

Often businesses must decide wether pricing is going to be set at ‘treat’ or one-off visit price. Or at a every day price where you could pop by daily or multiple times in a week.
I dont think the Real Greek met either brief.

The food was of good quality and well cooked at a cost £65 + service charge.
Places of a similar quality have mains at £15 per person + service charge.
One may say, you get what you pay for. However, there was no major difference in service. Considering, when we arrived, there were no other customers. Therefore good service wasn't particularly challenging.

When we arrived, we were immediately given a jug of tap water. Which was a good start.

I was also impressed by the amount of authentic Greek choices.

I asked for a no carb alternative to the chips and was offered halloumi fries, which i was pleased with.

The Greek lager was nothing to write home about. It only goes to show, that just because a beer is brewed locally, it doesn't make it more interesting.

The main plate you will see in the picture cost us £50 to share. You can decide if that is good value for money.

£72 for lunch is surely a one-off and will not invite regular custom.

in Short, i really enjoyed my afternoon, but was unhappy with what I paid.

Requested an outside table as partner is deaf and outside is less noisy,was to ld no as outside tables just been cleaned and wre damp,seemed strange as chair seats are pvc coated a wipe with some kitchen roll would have sorted that out.poor customer service and lack of empathy for someone with a disability.Hearing aids pick up every sound and the clatter and noise of inside makes hearing problematic.

This place used to be great but now it’s got ridiculously expensive and the portion sizes have got tiny. I’m afraid I’ll not be going there again.

Very disappointed with the food on our visit on Sunday last week. I’ve eaten at this restaurant many times in past few years and it used to offer an outstanding menu choice. However the menu has changed vastly since my last visit - there are no longer the vast list of tapas dishes and set menu options. In its place is a very limited selection of dishes that aren’t authentic Greek dishes. We choose the sea food platter for two and were surprised by this small dish of over cooked king prawns, calamari, some fries and a small salad - price £50!
I won’t be returning there anymore - there are plenty of other great places to eat in Bournemouth, such a shame.

I bought Moussaka from Tesco (Real Greek) the texture was perfect, not sloppy but it was flavourless. The minced beef had no herbs or spices, no onion it was very disappointing because it looked fabulous in its packaging.i would not recommend it, sadly

Small overpriced dishes. Gives real Greek restaurants a bad name as the food was nothing like authentic greek food that I've had at proper greek places. £7 for a small saucer of taramasalata and it doesn't even come with a pitta bread or anything to dip into it or eat it with. Really poor food. And then they had the audacity to add a 10% service charge on!

We tried the spiced lamb sausages, but found the spiced lamb to be far too dry and in need of a sauce. The cooking bag burst in the oven, and any sauce was lost.

We tried it with home-cooked Basmati rice, which replaced the wrap.

Waited to be seated, staff eating had to come over and seat us.
Food tasteless, had to ask for extra sauce to flavour it
Soulless venue and very empty, I can see why now.

Absolutely rubbish no meat no flavour complete slopp

Bought The Real Greek pork gyros at Tesco (£5.00 for 350g) and cooked as per the instructions. The meat resembled pulled pork when trying to slice it. The taste was bland as the meat lacked seasoning and the cut was very fatty. So essentially this 'gyros' is poorly seasoned, rather expensive pulled pork. It is certainly not authentic gyros. I wonder if 'The Real Greek' has ever visited the real Greece!

Disappointing Experience at The Real Greek, Silverburn

I had high hopes for The Real Greek at Silverburn, but unfortunately, the experience was far from authentic. The pork was overcooked and completely tasteless, the rice was undercooked, and the falafels were so hard they were practically inedible. To top it off, the hummus was overly salty, making it difficult to enjoy.

I raised these issues with the waitress, who assured me she would inform the kitchen, but we never received any feedback or resolution. There was no attempt to rectify the situation, which left me feeling ignored. Despite the poor quality of the food, we still ended up paying what felt like an overpriced bill for a very underwhelming meal.

Overall, a disappointing visit—definitely not the standard I expected, and I won’t be rushing back.

The Real Greek Bournemouth….absolutely shocking experience. A meal out for my friend and I for my birthday. Ordered a moussaka. Arrived with mega lumps of meat underneath a sloppy, anaemia bechamel sauce which looked more like custard. The centre of the moussaka was stone cold so returned it and was given
another whilst my friend was given half a doz pathetic looking dolamades and a single halloumi skewer on some coleslaw. Second moussaka exactly the same so gave up and was told I wouldn’t be charged for my food (too bl*%%y right) and drink. Waitress couldn’t understand as the chef ‘had pressed the same button on the microwave twice’ …..I mean, really, do you really need to know you’re paying through the nose for a microwaved ‘meal’? Absolutely shocking and revolting.

Had a fantastic meal at Silverburn. Good service and the food was delicious. We had the platter plus one extra dish for 3 people. Generous portions and lovely well cooked food.

Visited Meadowhall for shopping and something to eat. Chose The Real Greek after looking through the menu outside the restaurant, good choices of food and well priced too. As we waited for the restaurant to open the queue outside got bigger so we expected good things. The waitress was very helpful and showed us to the table. As the restaurant had just opened at midday we were the first to order our food as we had already made our mind up whilst waiting for it to open. We were disappointed straight away to be informed that the moussaka we wanted to order was NOT available (despite this being one of the mains on the menu). So then we chose the lamb meatballs, only to be told that these we Not available also! We were now running out of ideas of what to have as we were really looking forward to those dishes. So as we had queued for a while before the restaurant had opened we settled on chicken skewers & pork skewers with Aegean slaw & large chips. The waitress apologised for the lack of our first and second choice dishes. Anyhow the food arrived fairly quickly and the chicken skewers were perfect, tender & hot. The pork skewers were extremely tough though. There wasn't much Aegean slaw but it was nice & fresh. The large chips were not really enough for 2 people though were cooked & seasoned nice.
Overall the meals were very small portions and unfortunately it was a disappointment as our first two choices of food were not available even though the restaurant had only just opened.

Excellent customer service. The food was delicious and the wait time was very quick. Ada was very accommodating and polite. Will return next time we’re in blue water.

We had a super meze meal at The Real Greek Covent Garden London on Friday 21st February… the food was delicious and very good portions… Yiannis was super friendly and worked hard to supply us all with good food and wine… lovely atmosphere!! Would definitely recommend…. Thank you for making our evening extra special…

What an amazing team, the food was fresh and delicious, the team were welcoming and friendly nothing was too much trouble.

Disappointing. Hummus was floury, no garlic, no olive oil, no flavour. Spinach parcels were deep fried, thick pastry stodge.
Nothing like real Greek food.
Tourist food for the unsuspecting…

I’ll be clear from the start the 2 stars are for the waiting staff (who were friendly and professional) and the beer (properly served in an ice cold glass). I had a chicken slouvaki like none I’d ever had before. Someone was very heavy handed with the paprika drying the meat out, the mustard mayonnaise definitely needed more mustard to be able to be called that (or, just call it mayonnaise!) and there was not a hint of oregano to be seen- let alone tasted. The Real Greek really does sound like false advertising.
