Terrible store and disgraceful customer…

Terrible store and disgraceful customer service — from misleading information in the offer to intimidation of the customer.

I purchased field hockey equipment for my child during a sale. The offer clearly stated delivery within a maximum of 3 days. The parcel was supposed to arrive on 25/11 but did not arrive until 31/12. After more than a week of delay, the company did not contact me at all.

When I contacted them myself, I spoke to an unpleasant employee who, instead of helping, started lecturing me that the company was “busy” and that “other people are also waiting.” I was told the parcel had allegedly been lost in Belfast. For another week it remained so “lost” that no one could locate it.

Eventually, I was refunded and informed that the parcel would not be delivered to me. Surprisingly, the parcel still arrived. I accepted it because several deliveries arrived at the same time. I immediately informed the company that their parcel was in my possession.

For the past two weeks, the company has been unable to arrange a collection. I am a disabled, non-mobile person following an accident, yet the company expects me to run around, print labels, and resolve their mistake. I have even been threatened with court action if I do not do this myself.

The parcel has been sitting in my hallway for two weeks, waiting to be collected. In a normal, professional company, this would be resolved within 2–3 days at most. Here, there is complete chaos, incompetence, and a total lack of respect for the customer.

I have not encountered such a chaotic and rude company in a very long time.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry to hear that you feel dissatisfied with how this situation was handled.

We would like to clarify a number of points based on our correspondence with you.

Following the unexpected delivery of the parcel after a refund had been issued, we worked with you to arrange a suitable return. We offered both options — either to keep the goods and make payment, or to return them using a prepaid label provided by us . When you advised that you preferred to return the items, we made multiple attempts to organise a courier collection on dates that suited you.

Throughout our communication, we explained that the return label is generated at the time of booking and must be printed for the courier to collect the parcel, as this is a requirement of the courier service rather than our own policy . We also clarified that, as we use third-party couriers, we are unable to provide exact collection times, only collection dates, with the courier issuing a time window on the day .

We made several efforts to accommodate your availability, rearranging collections and continuing to monitor the tracking. Ultimately, a collection was successfully completed once the label was printed and the parcel was ready .

We understand that this situation was frustrating, particularly given the delay in the original delivery, and we do apologise for that aspect of your experience. However, we must also note that the return process required cooperation with the courier’s standard procedures, which we communicated throughout.

Regarding your concern about legal action, this was mentioned only after repeated difficulties in arranging a return, where the goods remained in your possession without payment or return. It was not intended as intimidation, but rather to outline the available options in resolving the matter.

We appreciate your feedback and will take it on board to review how we communicate in complex situations such as this.

- Bought a London Hockey South training…

- Bought a London Hockey South training top for my daughter. The sizes are out - they are much too large - and I cannot return it. These tops are very expensive for what they are (£30 for a kids training top) and not good value for money at all. Now I need to buy two.

- To add insult to injury, someone at Total Hockey erroneously told me I could return the top so I paid additional £ to send it back. And now I don't even have the top I bought originally. £33 completely lost.

- Absolutely dreadful experience. I would steer clear if I could.

Thank you for another perfect purchase from Total Hockey. Ordered off the website as we had a 'Wish List' drawn up previously with Alan's help in Banbridge. Goalie kit items shipped on the day the order was received - arrived next day. You can't do better than that! Superb service - we are very grateful for the reliability and swiftness of the Total Hockey customer experience. 100% recommend them.

Wonderful!

Total Hockey is a wonderful company all around. From product selection to outstanding customer service, I highly recommend them. When the turf I ordered arrived a bit too snug, the exchange process was made efficient and hassle-free by the excellent customer service team with Total Hockey, notably Sam. I am so happy I chose to purchase my turf shoes via Total Hockey, and I recommend all buyers to their direction for a variety of hockey needs.

We have been buying our hockey gear…

We have been buying our hockey gear here for a few years now and have always been very happy with the products. Brinsley in particular really went the extra mile recently in getting us sorted with a new kit outside of the normal club order which we really appreciate.

Fantastic company to deal with

I ordered a hockey stick for my daughter and she came back from school with it broken after playing with it for the first time. I didn't hold up much hope getting a refund but after sending over photos and chatting through the issue with their customer services, Total Hockey sent me a full refund. It's brilliant to know that they are a company who look after their customers rather than just all out to make money. I will definitely be using them again as it's when issues like these arise you truly find out about how companies operate.
