Find An Emergency Vet
Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Visited the Brantham branch yesterday evening as our dog had a badly swollen cheek and neck. The vet was not thorough in the examination and misdiagnosed the problem as a bite or sting. Consultation was £324, anti-inflammatory injection £50 (10ml Loxicom £16 plus £34 to inject it)They also wanted £35 admin. fee for dealing with the insurance claim.
The condition worsened considerably overnight so we went to our usual vet this morning. They quickly diagnosed a foreign object in his cheek, sedated him and removed it. Total cost was less than that charged by Vets Now and included £50 for 100ml of Loxicom which can be given orally. No charge whatsoever for dealing with the insurance claim.
Vets Now is horribly expensive, the vet misdiagnosed the problem which led to our dog being in considerable pain for far longer than was necessary and we had to wait over two hours to be seen. In our opinion patient care comes a very distant second to raking in the cash. Will never again take any of our animals to Vets Now.
Cannot thank vets now for our out of hours visit Friday . I was so worried about our dog Yoda , she was so poorly and I was expecting the worse to be honest . The vet was amazing and was calm and honest in her approach , the Nurse was also very calm and kind and had lots of patience. They explained everything so well and broached possibilities sensitively. I cannot thank them enough for the comfort and kindness given to us that night . Little Yoda has improved and I hope that she continues to do so . Thank you both again :)
My local vet uses 'vets now' for their out of hours service which is highly disappointing given my experience with them.
It started fine, the agent seemed to understand and sympathise but was clear she was reading from a script.
Then at the end of the call she threw in the little throw away comment/disclaimer that 'this clinic charges £302.50 for a consultation' to which i withdrew the appointment immediately.
Its a shame when companies like this are allowed to operate, as with other reviews, this sector needs legislation to protect customers from corporations who clearly charge an extortionate rate and play on those who genuinely care for an animal in need.
£302.50 does not provide value for money.
Whilst the care we received was very good/excellent, I am astounded that you can charge £437,35 for a five minute consultation on Saturday afternoon and some ear drops, it's absolutely disgraceful, the whole veterinary profession needs tighter regulation.
You are profiteering from pet owners distress and it's got to change.
VERY EXPENSIVE
Piece of grass in my dog’s ear , Charged me £392.00 . And didn’t even take the grass out of her ear gave me some ear drops. In there not even 5 minutes. Went to my vets on 30 hours later and they took it out there in 5 minutes, didn’t even have to sedate her . £42 . I understand stand that we need this service but way over priced.
Cannot thank vets now enough for all their help with our little Betty. The vets and nurses we saw we amazing, friendly and very professional. Your receptionist is a star so friendly and great at putting a smile on your face. Would highly recommend.
Staff, empathetic, caring and efficient. Knowledgeable and informative about medications.
We phoned and arranged to be there between 5pm and 5.30pm. Got there just after 5pm and was put into a room and asked to pit the dog up on the table, 1 and a half hours later we were seen by a nurse, all that time having to keep the dog still on the table.
When the vet eventually came in she basically just touched my dogs leg and said it's either broken or a tumour has burst,if its either then there is nothing we can do for your dog due to arthritis and twice went on about quality of life which I wasn't happy about and said so.
Add to that the shocking price of £1200 to xray him but depending on findings couldn't do anything till the next day at which point we said we would leave it then and take to our own vets in the morning, which turns out crays were just over £300.
And to top it all off after having us fearing the worst there wasn't a break or tumour, if i hadn't been so adamant the vet would have been happy enough to put him to sleep there and then.
Definitely won't be using this vets out of hours ever again.
I phoned to see vet they explain the cost to see vet plus medication. On arrival very helpful reception staff. Well laid out reception area.the vet explained everything very clearly and when to contact our own vet.
We attended the werrington pe4 5bh branch
We had to wait outside as no one would answer the buzzer with a very very poorly cat … the vetwas lovely WHEN we got to see her she gave him a very detailed examination and said he was to sick to save and made his end as peaceful and gentle as possible. Then 45 min wait to pay the astronomical fee … as grieving parents it was a shit show the admin staff where dreadful …. They have you by the throat as you have to pay before u leave ok I get that but don’t leave us sobbing in reception you should have let us pay and leave asap and go home to grieve ……disgusted
If i could give zero stars i would. They failed to tell us over the phone that they knew nothing about beardies. When we got there we found this out when they said there's not a lot they can do because they don't see beardies. When we were there I had to ask to make sure ours was warm enough, he wasn't so they then said they would put him on a HEAT PAD. Offered £400 to observe him overnight (absolutely not considering they're using a heat pad to keep him warm). We opted to go home and keep him in his enclosure where he could be comfortable and go to the exotics vet that we were recommended and told would be a £60 consult fee first thing when they opened. We had to pay the £340 out of hours fee for literally no advice and even treatment that probably made our beardies condition worse because he was cold. We followed the instructions and called the recommended vet as soon as they opened. They said they couldn't give us an appointment without the documents from the out of hours vet which was now closed and if we could get those over, the consult wouldnt be for anything less than £470. We did a U-turn as we were also on the way to this vet while sorting this out, we found another exotic vet and went there instead without telling what we'd already been through. This new vet was incredible but it was too late and our precious bearded dragon passed away. I'm so incredibly angry at vets now and the vet they recommended. They clearly didn't care about the welfare of our boy and only wanted our money and in the end it was at the cost of his life. This isn’t the first time we've had a bad experience with the Farnham branch and I will be telling anyone I know to avoid this place at all costs.
Was sent here out of hours & was seen promptly, staff was very considerate & gave good advice & treated my pet kindly & efficiently 🙂
The speed at which they attended to our poorly cat, and the subsequent love, care and attention thereafter was lovely and very reassuring even though he was 17 years old. The Vet was very clear on all aspects of his life threatening condition, potential outcomes and treatments. Thank you all so much for keeping our lovely boy with us, in a manner he can still enjoy his life 😘
If the vet was perfect the people on the phone were a calamity! The first one wanted to fill a form with since I had to face an emergency for my dog life. I asked for an address I received a msg I couldn’t open : I am living in the north of Scotland, there is no connection there! Not everyone is living in London. The second one gave a postcode … I arrived at the crematorium!
Really!!!
The staff at the bitterne branch were absolutely fantastic on both occasions when Herbie, my lovely cockerpoo, was having serious breathing difficulties requiring an oxygen tent. I would not hesitate to recommend them, they were very thorough, very calm and i has complete trust in them that they were doing the very best for my best friend. Thank you so much.
Do NOT use fees are ridiculous they don't tell you till after the situation is delt with and they after service with complaints is dire BE Warned.
Despite being very busy everyone was kind and thoughtful and worked in conjunction with my vet to help my very sick dog. He is now recovered and we feel very thankful.
