I have recently taken out an offset mortgage and needed to change the offset account from option 2 to 3 which is explained in the introductory book about my mortgage. It says if you want to do this to just give them a call.

Mindful that large companies telephone communication can be laborious I fist tried to do this online but swiftly found that there is not an option to do this. I then rang and after about 10 mins I got through. I spoke to a person who tried to assist and went away 2 or 3 times for advice before coming back and still not understanding my request. I told him politely not to worry and that I would go into the branch. This took about 30 mins.

I went to the branch and a lady offered me assistance and was really helpful stating that although there are no mortgage advisors in the branch she would ring through for me. Even by doing this at branch it took about 90 minutes through the very patient member of staff being put on hold, cut off 3 times and being passed around the houses. At the end I spoke to a very helpful member of staff on the phone who completed the task in 2 minutes.

Without the branch I would have got nowhere I fear. At the end of it I was given another number I could use in future to be quicker - however it transpires it was the same number we had called originally from the customer information book.

Yorkshire Building Society in Oxford (High Street Branch) was a breath of fresh air. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. It was wonderful to go into a bank and be treated like a person, by people who cared and knew how to treat people well.
On the day I was in the branch, I was served by Kim. She was kind, attentive, and highly professional. I achieved everything I wanted to achieve during my visit. Thank You!!

Went with YBS as wanted an offset mortgage. Good customer service, easy to get hold of team via email or phone. Mortgage process involved gifted deposit but was still straightforward.

Very easy to open account, what I would say is its abut disappointing that you can only have one banking application on a device

I opened a New account It was quick easy and all done in a couple of days.

Punctual, pleasant and efficient.

Apart from initial good interactions with YBS staff when first applying the customer service has been awful, passed over to their appointed conveyancer who have been slow and extremely unhelpful during the process of remortgaging to redeem my help to buy loan. Absolutely no contact from YBS themselves during this latter stage. Not sure about a standard mortgage application but I would not recommend them for help to buy applications.
