Unbelievably expensive below average…
Unbelievably expensive below average food with tiny portions.
The prices are EXTORTIONATE
I went to YO! Sushi today in Watford with my husband. We used to be very loyal customers, but haven't been to YO! since the pandemic. We were absolutely disgusted by the prices - they were extortionate! The small plates now range from around £5 to nearly £10 each! You get absolutely tiny portions, and the food is of average quality. It cost us almost £90 for two large beef teriyaki bowls & 4 small plates. We will never go to YO! Sushi again - it's an absolute rip off! We are really disappointed as were very loyal customers before covid, and had planned a few dates here in the coming months.
Yo is disrespectful and treats their customers like fools
I recently visited Yo! Sushi at Meadowhall Shopping Centre with my son, eager to try it for the first time based on a recommendation from my partner. While the food quality and initial service were good, my experience was completely overshadowed by a shocking discovery that revealed a troubling and disrespectful business practice.
At the end of the meal, we asked to pay the total amount. The waiter calculated the amount due, applied a birthday voucher we provided, and gave us the final figure. However, before leaving, we requested to see the bill itself—and that’s when we noticed a hidden 7.5% service charge had been added without our knowledge or consent.
This practice is appalling. When dining at a restaurant, customers expect to pay the prices displayed on the menu, inclusive of great service. To sneak in an additional charge without informing the customer is unacceptable, and it is theft! There was no mention of this service charge on the menu, nor did the staff inform us at any point during our visit. It felt intentionally deceptive, as though Yo! Sushi is trying to take advantage of customers who don’t carefully inspect their receipts.
Following my complaint, I received a refund for the exact service charge. However, the explanation provided by Yo! Sushi was wholly inadequate. They claimed that their system “automatically” adds the 7.5% charge and that staff “forgot” to remove it. This isn’t an accidental error—it’s a deliberate policy.
Why is Yo! Sushi adding a 7.5% service charge without asking customers? Great service should be part of the experience—it’s what diners expect when they pay menu prices. Conversely, if the service had been poor, would the bill be reduced by 7.5%? Somehow, I doubt it.
If Yo! Sushi genuinely believes their staff deserve higher pay, they should increase wages and adjust menu prices to reflect this. Instead, they shift this cost onto customers without transparency, exploiting their goodwill. This approach is not only unethical but also deeply disrespectful to those who choose to dine with them.
Until Yo! Sushi takes action to eliminate this malpractice and commits to treating their customers fairly, I strongly encourage others to stay away. There are countless other restaurants that deliver great food and great service without resorting to hidden charges or taking their customers for granted.
Save your money, your time, and your trust—support restaurants that value their patrons and operate with integrity.
Rethink closure please!
After 15 years of YO!Sushi and after having fixed the fridges, today is the last day that the St Pancras branch is open. I am not sure why this is a good decision as there's regular footfall in a busy station, the staff are helpful and kind and the sushi's good, rethink this closure please!
Go to Wagamama's instead!!
My first ever visit to Yo Sushi in Cheshire Oaks will also be my last ever visit.
The prices are astronomical, considering the tiny portioning and poor quality and taste of the dishes.
I had Cucumber Sushi first and it tasted so fishy that it actually made me heave. I then had Edamame beans, which were watery, cold and not salted as listed. The portion size for the cost was totally ridiculous and nowhere near what it could and should have been.
Chicken Gyoza's were tiny, over priced and overcooked, along with the blandest soy dip ever. And to add insult to already extremely poor experience, the hoisin duck loaded fries were way over priced for the TINY portion size and whatever the hell that sauce was over them was just hot and not pleasant at all. Over powered any taste of duck, or indeed fries...Poor quality fries and tiny tiny portion yet again.
The service was slow, although the servers were at least polite.
The way that the dishes are handed over the conveyor belt and passed down a human chain is also utterly ridiculous...4 people handled my food before it even got to me! Unacceptable! That is LITERALLY what waiting staff are for!!!
I wouldn't eat there again even it was free or someone paid me.
Stale Sushi. Past it's use by date. They don't care.
Bought a O-Mega Salmon from Tesco only to try and eat it and discover it was stale and a day out of date. On another date weeks later half of their counter had out of date Sushi on it.
I contacted their customer service and the demanded receipts prior to taking any action.
Totally absurd to assume your customers would make this kind of stuff up. Abysmal. Overpriced. Rotten. Stale.
Pitiful portions for premium prices
If the barely there overpriced servings weren’t bad enough, the disingenuous menu deliberately shows large portions while failing to mention the ‘discretionary 10% service charge’ added to the bill. Is that even legal?
Imagine paradise....
Imagine paradise. Imagine it as a place on a map. In your mind, drop a pin there… then start walking. Walk away from it as far as you possibly can in the universe you’ve just created. Then drop another pin. That pin is as far away from perfect as you can get… that pin, if you will, is hell.
Now, again imagine you tap that pin. Yes… you guessed it. That pin is Yo Sushi at the Trafford Center.
Only worse… because going to hell at least has a sense of justice to it. You end up in hell because you did something.
I ended up in Yo Sushi, the real incarnation of hell, because my kids wanted to go there. That seems like a harsh punishment.
What makes it hell is that in no way does it live up to any of its promises. This is meant to be luxury, exotic, flavoursome… frankly Yo Sushi should have a licence from the FCA to arrange personal loans and mortgages to pay the bill. Their food is so expensive that it is perfectly reasonable to expect it to cure cancer, reverse male pattern baldness, or serve as the world heavyweight champion of aphrodisiacs…
But instead, what you get is to wait in a long queue in a shop that’s too hot for it to be good for anyone - another way it is very much like hell. You are sat in grubby, dirty, dilapidated surroundings, and even though I came with small children, you are sat at a bar that in no way lends itself to supervising kids.
To the best of my knowledge there is no way to summon waiting staff - I understood they did not use the app and had to be summoned. Only I assume they had to be summoned by telephone, by email, even perhaps by telepathy, because none were around to be summoned by more traditional means.
Finally, when my seven year old had got sick of waiting, he went to find one, in a moment I found out about a split second too late, because he was next to me at a bar, not in front of me at a table.
When the server was to be found, she knew about as much about the menu as I do about open heart surgery (read: I am not a cardio thoracic surgeon). Couldn’t guide me through the dishes, couldn’t tell me how the menu had changed, couldn’t suggest any alternatives. It was, almost exactly, like talking to a hand puppet. Only hand puppets are fun. This was like putting a knitting needle into my ear.
So, with my kids having eaten four plates alone. Four small plates. With pennies worth of food on them, I got sick of the shoddy experience, baulked at the idea of having my pocket picked to be treated like.a simpleton and left. The cost for those four plates? A few pence shy of £18.
So in short - I would not recommend this food venue to anyone - unless I bitterly hated them, because I’d caught them in bed with my wife, after driving my car, and having ingratiated themselves to my friends. Then and only then could I loathe someone enough to recommend eating at this establishment.
For less dramatic occasions - give it a dramatic swerve. Your bank manager and your sensibilities will thank you.
Inedible and vile
Yo sushi Korean chicken rice bowl from Tesco.
Absolutely revolting, bordering on inedible.
Claggy overcooked rice with about a dozen thin strips of raw cabbage on top.
Sauce was like sugar syrup mixed with chilli.
Deep fried chicken just ends up soggy when microwaved according too instructions.
For almost £6 this was a disgusting rip off

Went to the new one in Bluewater today
Went to the new one in Bluewater today. Never been before. Felt ripped off! And they tried to charge me an extra £5 service charge for crap service ! ..
There wasn't enough food on the dishes and I wish I had thought about the cost a bit more ..but then you want to sit and enjoy food so you don't really...then £70 later you wish you'd gone to Wasabi ! ... my daughter just wanted to go for the novelty. But I feel the extortionate cost ruins the experience! ( £3.75 for a small bottle of lemonade too! )
