53rd Bank is not what it used to be.
After banking with you all for over 10 years. Today you all have lied to me for the last time. Your bank has so many unprofessional people working at them I have like five different bank accounts through different banks you were the only Bank I have ever bring that where I have gotten a message ask me if it was fraud and I said no that was my charge and my card gets shut down and then when I try to pull money on my account that I just transferred from one of my other accounts to that account after you got shit my car down and tell me that my money wasn't cleared when it was cleared and you already had it bagged up to give to me once I said I was going to close my account I was lied to and they refused to give me my own money because I didn't want to bank there no more that is some serious BS I was so mad I couldn't see straight tomorrow I'm not going for that Fifth Third get y'all stuff together you have went downhill over the years and you lost my business today

Overdraft robbery
I overdrafted my account the first overdraft was $324 and then another $167. I covered the $324 overdraft which left a negative balance of the $167 they still changed me $70 overdraft fee even though it was only 1 transaction that wasn't covered by midnight

Car loan chaos
I had a car loan through Fifth Third Bank, and my experience started off fine. I set up autopay and everything worked as expected—until it suddenly didn’t. Out of nowhere, my autopay stopped processing, and that’s when everything went downhill.
Once I had to start dealing with customer service, my entire opinion of the bank changed. No one seemed to know what they were doing. I reached out multiple times and was given different explanations for the issue, but none of them actually solved the problem. It felt like I was going in circles with no real answers or accountability.
I even went into a physical branch hoping to get help in person, but that didn’t resolve anything either. At that point, I lost confidence completely. I ended up paying off the loan in full out of fear that their inability to fix the issue would negatively impact my credit.
To make matters worse, I had customer service representatives hang up on me. One interaction in particular was incredibly unprofessional—after I shared my frustration and said I wouldn’t bank with them again, the representative told me I should have just paid cash for my car instead of taking out a loan.
Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I would not recommend Fifth Third Bank based on the lack of support, poor communication, and unprofessional behavior I encountered.
Don't Even Think About Banking with Fifth Third!
I decided to switch banks and chose Fifth Third because they were local and I knew others who banked with them.
I opened an account online with an initial deposit of $100. I then set up my payees for my online banking and set up a few payments to go out. My current bank limits transfers to $1500 per day so I scheduled a transfer to my new 5/3 account. In the meantime, my husband and are were in the process of having all of our direct deposits redirected to 5/3.
Yesterday I received a call from their fraud department stating that I didn't have enough funds in my account to cover the payments that were scheduled 2 weeks out. I explained that I was in the process of redirecting my direct deposits and the money would be there prior to the payment due date.
I was then informed that it's their policy that customers cannot schedule any payments if the funds are not currently in the account, regardless of how far out they are. The also said that my payments had been canceled and my account had been closed by them.
I was not able to login to my online banking to check on the $1500 deposit, but was just told over the phone that it's pending and should be available tomorrow.
I will gladly go to the branch tomorrow, collect my money and deposit it with my current bank.
