Appalling service. Still waiting completion of will conveyancing 5 years on.

This law firm have held £10k of my money for 3 years.

They need to review some simple post completion work that is formally updated on the land registry and they continue to ignore my solicitors request for a meeting to ensure this matter is completed and my funds released.

I would not recommend this firm to anyone.

I am now formally logging a complaint to the SRA.

Firstly why AFG law didn’t asked me feedback via Reviewsolicitors

Based on my personal experience, I was dissatisfied with the service I received from this firm.
Elizabeth Mcwhinnie was terminated at short notice despite upcoming court deadlines, which caused significant stress and left me with limited time to secure alternative solicitors. I found the timing and lack of practical support particularly difficult.
I also had serious concerns regarding billing transparency. I was asked to pay fees on a monthly basis and had to repeatedly request detailed breakdowns of the invoices. Only after doing so did I become aware of multiple charges for minor administrative actions, including sending or acknowledging emails,calling twice because I didn’t answer at the first call and follow-up emails requesting clarification of bills. These charges were not clearly explained to me in advance, and in my view the cumulative cost was disproportionate.
In addition, I felt there was a lack of proactive document management and evidence preparation.
Based on my experience, I would advise others to be careful and to closely review and request full explanations of all charges.
This review reflects my personal experience and expectations, and others may have a different experience.

I went through a very lengthy and frustrating sale process but my solicitor stuck with it until completion.

This company was used by the seller and builder of our house in 2021. We are now selling this house and have experienced significant delays regarding a missing piece of paperwork that should have been required - section 38. The builder advised his solicitors (AFG) never informed him this is required or what this was. I have emailed on the 14th October asking for an explanation etc and heard absolutely nothing back. I left a Google review and they advised me to email their customer service email which I did and also have heard nothing back. Please don't use, their ethics and quality of their work is poor. The buyer of our house has now dropped out as he wasn't informed about the road situation and the missing Section 38. We have spent thousands already and to not hear back is an absolute disgrace.

Storm dealt with the legal part of my property purchase. What was a stressful time in my life Storm was amazing and I can’t recommend her enough.

I wish I could give a good review but the experience has been extremely poor. For a simple remortgage it took us over 3 months to complete due to so many mistakes. My name was spelt incorrect on my mortgage deed, our address was often spelt wrong and we missed deadline on completion pushing us back a week and therefore costing us yet more money due to my last name being spelt wrong. When we rang, we simply got ‘we are super busy I’ve got 11 completions to do today’. When you are paying money, you expect a decent level of service and it simply wasn’t there.

I had to chase to even see if we completed as our mortgage provider emailed before we even knew.

Would not use again.

This company seems to take forever for everything. My conveyancing has (so far) taken 9 months and only now do they decide the garden plan slightly overlaps another (not unusual I guess) .. I've been kept in the dark and confusion throughout dealing with unqualified staff and now they tell me they don't think I'm polite enough !(I have been courteous throughout and remain so despite misdirection and broken promises). Truly I have no choice but to complain.

Never answer the phone. Do not reply to emails only when chased. No updates even on the day of completion unless you chase them! Terrible Customer service provided throughout the sale process. Would not recommend.

If you require any melon in a jacket who will not put your case forward, this company is the one!

Shocking service, communication was extremely poor! Waited 3weeks per email reply, left multiple messages and emails with Greg and his assistant and didn’t get a reply. Wasted 7 weeks before moving to a new solicitor.

I had the pleasure of being looked after by Storm and her team Emily and Anna. I found them to be exceptional, the challenge we faced to complete in 6 weeks before the stamp duty increase was made to look easy when the reality it was far from it. It was the hard work and commitment to do their best for their client that made this happen.

Issues with restrictions imposed by management companies and their poor communication and overall lack of engagement was negated by Storm through her knowledge and experience and clever use of her professional network in the industry.

Very simply put if it wasn’t for her impressive skill set as a lawyer this deal would not have happened so quickly and cost me thousands as a result.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend AFG Law and Storm particularly she is personable, professional, creates solutions to problems by thinking outside of the box and is patient in explaining the technical legal elements of the conveyancing process.

A simply exceptional customer experience.

Avoid at all costs!!!! Nearly £600 for sending a court letter late and a consultation, no communication what so ever, it’s like getting blood out of a stone trying to speak to someone, you get put through to answer machines that know one rings you back. Still awaiting a refund which court sent over to AFG and I still haven’t received it, when I do get a reply it’s with an excuse of they have been on annual leave!
Iv been waiting for the £600 refund from court for nearly 2 month which is not even money paid to them. They have done nothing for the money they have had, which I have no problem with them keeping.
For my refund from the court they have asked me for bank statements to authorise this for some reason and then has to be signed off by the “director”.
When contacting my solicitor directly about the issue, he just tells me not to contact him as I will just get charged for this.
Absolutely no help at all, if anything they make situations worse and take your money no problems.
Unfortunately I have had to take this further.
