One Star — A System Error With Serious Consequences for Customers

My experience with Afriex has been deeply distressing and completely unacceptable.

Afriex’s system duplicated one of my transactions. I contacted customer service promptly, and a representative acknowledged that the transaction had been processed twice. I followed the repayment instructions provided, but the proposed solution did not work. I raised another complaint through the app and received an acknowledgment promising a response, but nobody followed up.

When I later funded my wallet, Afriex recovered the duplicated amount in full. However, my remaining legitimate balance could not be transferred because Afriex said my account was restricted. I was subsequently informed that the restriction had been removed.

Despite Afriex recovering the money, my Nigerian bank account was later placed under a Post-No-Debit restriction connected with the same incident. I have since learned that dozens of other customers have reported similar restrictions, and one affected customer publicly reported being arrested at a bank branch.

Customers should not suffer frozen accounts, financial hardship, reputational damage or possible legal consequences because of a fintech company’s system error—especially after the duplicated funds have already been recovered.

Afriex’s customer service failed to follow up, and its handling of the reconciliation process has caused unnecessary distress. I would not recommend this service until the company resolves every affected account, provides appropriate clearance documentation and ensures that the relevant banks and authorities receive updated information.

Transaction was very fast and quick

They euro transfer wasn’t working, I got charged still and lost money with them.

This is a great service, and great pricing

Afriex withdrew money from my card and the card registration of the card was not was not finished. I have over 50 emails from them saying they already withdrew the money and cannot give a refund. I told them they illegally used a card not registered and then they email back saying they opened a ticket, then the next day they email saying the issue has been resolved. This company is a fraud and is a scam!!!

This app is a front for money laundering. My mom got arrested and had to pay a heavy fine because the funds I sent her through Afriex got redirected and the money she received came from a fraudulent account. Her bank accounts also got locked. Their customer care is awful. They will apologize and promise to fix the issue but never do. Don’t use this app or your loved ones might suffer like my mom did.

I am writing this review out of frustration and deep concern regarding a significant sum of $4,951.5 that was debited from my Afriex wallet on June 22, 2026.

I was assured by Afriex Customer Support (Moshood Lawal) that this debit was an internal backend step required to process a manual transaction and that my refund was a "priority." However, despite sending multiple follow-up emails on June 23, 24, 25, 26, and June 27, I have received no concrete timeline, no update on the review process, and no resolution.

My subsequent emails have been ignored, and I have been left without access to my funds for nearly a week. The lack of transparency and the complete breakdown in communication is unacceptable for a financial services platform handling users' hard-earned money.

I have now been forced to escalate this matter to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) .

I would advise anyone using Afriex to exercise extreme caution. If you encounter any issues, be prepared for unresponsive support and significant delays.

I expect a full refund to be processed immediately. I will update this review once the matter is resolved.

Withheld $4,951.5 Refund – Support Unresponsive After 6 Days

My Afriex wallet was debited of $4,951.5 on June 22, 2026, for a supposed backend transaction. Support confirmed they were working on it but have ignored all my follow-ups since then. No timeline, no refund, no response for 6 days. I am now escalating to regulatory authorities. Stay away from this platform until they improve their customer service and financial accountability.

Very complicated and unsafe app for your funds. I can't even find my card.

Worst app ever, please don’t use! My account was debited 5 times without actually sending the money! This app is a fraud and the customer service is rubbish, they are unprofessional and they are operating scams by debiting money without actually carrying out the transactions! Do not use Afriex
