Do not use this company

They inflated the price of the required parts by more than four times the actual cost. The repair quote was intentionally set so high that repairing the appliance made no financial sense.
After a quick validation online, I found the same parts at a much lower price from an official LG parts supplier, confirming that the information provided to me was false.
Based on the inflated quote and the installation constraints, it strongly appears they had no intention of completing the repair.

No Service & Pays to Remove Bad Reviews

I paid $100.57$ CAD for a diagnostic service on a kitchen hood appliance. The technician who came said that he would check for parts and if they could not be found, recommended a replacement. He said he would get back to us.

After multiple follow-ups with the website and technician, I was not able to get any follow-up. This feels pretty clearly like a scam, where the service aims to rack up "diagnostic" fees without fixing any problems.

Over a year later, they reached out to offer a refund in exchange for the removal of my Trustpilot review. I said I would not do that as that was a breach of ethics, but I would update my review indicating they offered a refund. They ended further dialogue and did not proceed with the refund.

Double the Price for the Same Job – Very Disappointing Experience

I had a very frustrating and unacceptable experience with this company. Their business model appears to rely on acting as a middleman and significantly inflating prices, especially during urgent situations.

For a simple water leak issue, I had already received two quotes under $200 (including labor parts and HST). This company sent a plumber for an $85 diagnostic (supposedly waived if proceeding), but no quote was provided upfront. After inspection, I was shocked to be told the cost would be nearly $400 for the exact same job—almost double the market rate.

When I raised this with customer service and shared the other quotes, they were so unprofessional, dismissive, and unwilling to justify or adjust the pricing. I was essentially forced into a “take it or leave it” situation under pressure, or lose the $85 fee—clearly taking advantage of an urgent plumbing issue.

To be fair, the plumber himself was professional and completed the job quickly, which only further highlights how unjustified and inflated the pricing is.

I strongly advise others to avoid this company and deal directly with licensed plumbers. Transparency and fair pricing are completely lacking here.

I expect the company to review this case and provide a partial refund to reflect a fair market rate.

Fraud and Lies

2 guys came promptly to check my high-end Dacor (Samsung) fridge for a 2nd opinion on another quote for a faulty wire harness. Their Google listing says "Authorized Dacor Appliance Repair," which after the call, Dacor confirms is 100% false and fraudulent use of Dacor's registered trademark. These guys tell me it's not a $280 wire harness plus labour, they say it's a blown compressor and verbally quote $3,300! I tell them the compressor is covered by warranty and they get all evasive and tell me "good price." That tips me off that they are *not* Dacor factory authorized and cannot submit warranty claims. Then they get really dodgy and tell me not to call Appliance Repair Expert back to book the work - they want me to call the technician's personal phone number. This is unethical as heck! Bottom line: they lie about their factory authorized status, they lie about the repair work needed, they lie to each other to steal business from their own employer. Avoid these spivs like the plague. (BTW, I have their Google listing which falsely claims Dacor-authorized, which I sent to Samsung as proof of trademark violation.) End of story: A Dacor factory-authorized service fixed the fridge for $700 all-in.

Do you have something against me or were you just in a bad mood?
Is how you cleaned my fridge your Standard Quality of work? When you vacuum under the fridge you should do All of it not just some that's up front & close to you. I took a handful of lint out from the front & redid all your work on the back. Paying $250 is not the issue but when you leave half the dirt & then don't even have a bag on your vacuum so I have dust everywhere it becomes an issue?
I paid $250 to learn how to adjust the wheels & get a Dusty House. So is this your Standard Quality for all jobs or just mine?
Nice Ad you have but Poor Workmanship. Thanks but No Thanks.

Very bad communication, lost $700 and dishwasher still broken

Frustrating experience with multiple visits for a dishwasher issue.

I paid for an initial diagnostic and was told everything was fine, but the problem persisted. On a second visit, I was advised to replace a part and paid over $600—yet the issue was still not resolved and another repair was suggested.

Communication was poor throughout: repeated calls and emails went unanswered, there was a last-minute cancellation, and no follow-up as promised. I had to chase them down myself.

I still have not received the requested refund amount and have had to bring the issue to the Consumer Protection board of Ontario.

Overall, disappointing due to inaccurate diagnosis, lack of follow-through, and poor communication. Would NOT recommend.

Efficient, quick service

Beware of this Vendor

Beware of this vendor - they offer discounts for 5-star reviews before the work is completed.

I normally try to be understanding when it comes to service delays, but my experience with this appliance repair company has been extremely disappointing.

First, I waited over two hours for the technician to arrive. I understand these things happen, so I didn’t make a big issue of it at the time. However, after the visit I was told I would receive an update regarding the repair. It has now been TWO MONTHS and I still have not received any update.

What’s even more frustrating is that I have been told multiple times over these two months that someone would call me back, but never received a call back once, and I was actually hung up on. At this point I’m still waiting for basic information about the repair and have had to repeatedly follow up myself. If they cannot do the repair job, why are they accepting the service calls? We were very specific about the type of appliance repair needed, and the service call wasn't even necessary because we provided photos as well as the model/serial number of the appliance and we knew we wanted to replace it. It feels like it was just an easy $100 money grab for 5 minutes of their time!

Good service isn’t just about the repair itself — it’s also about communication and follow-through, and unfortunately both have been lacking here.

I’m posting this review in the hope that someone from the company will finally follow up and provide an update on my repair request or at least a refund for dragging us along for two months without taking on the repair required.

Appliance Repair Expert is #1

I called on Monday, asked if they could come Tuesday, they showed up a little early on Tuesday ( I was happy about that ). The tech was friendly and easy to talk to. He also explained everything to me thoroughly....the process and testing that he conducted. Put our washing machine in order and took care of it all in about half an hour or less. If we ever need any future appliance maintenance we will be calling these guys 1st. Very professional, thanks alot A.R.E.!!

I scheduled a diagnostic appointment and had to cancel it within the same day. I have never used this company before. The call taker was rude and inconsiderate, telling me I am responsible for the bill despite the appointment being scheduled hours away. He threatened to forward my information to the credit bureau and forwarded an invoice of $100. I did not consent to this...

Dishwasher issues

I was having issues with my dishwasher. Same day service, and a knowledgeable, friendly tech. Issues were taken care of quickly, and price was reasonable.

Will use again for appliance issues.

Please AVOID this company

Please AVOID this company. I was charged a diagnostic fee even though no diagnostic or repair was performed.

The technician did not inspect or test my dishwasher—only listened to my description and said a part was needed. Looked at my model number on the door. I was told he’d return the next day, but no one showed up and no one contacted me. Then I called the third day twice. Both times they were supposed to call within 20 minutes and return that day for the repair. Never even called. After multiple calls and repeated promises, nothing happened.

When I asked for the diagnostic fee to be waived by dispatch they said it was possible. Forwarded me to the edmonton office. I was treated rudely and told the charge would go to collections, and that no technician would be sent. The invoice was inaccurate and doesn’t even list the correct appliance details. They show up to get the “through the door fee”, say a high repair cost and even if you move forward with the said repair, they will not show up day after day. And charge you for the “diagnostic” appointment. It’s a scam. They want that $130 fee and will ghost you.

I wish I would have done more research prior to booking. Between now reading these reviews and I discovered this company is not BBB accredited and has over 100 complaints, which sadly matches my experience. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.
