We paid a premium price for Schüco AS FD90 bifold doors from BDF and received a budget-level fiasco: faulty installation, repeated failed remedial visits, missed appointments, no-shows, poor communication, and constant blame-shifting. Even their so-called "professional survey" — carried out by the director himself — was wrong, delaying our build and costing us additional expense.
After 18 months of disruption, and with no urgency from BDF to deliver the product we had paid for, we had no choice but to initiate County Court proceedings. We offered a reduced settlement; the director declined, stating he would "take his chance" in court. The court found in our favour, awarding us a refund so we could engage a competent contractor to put right BDF's substandard work. Even then, BDF paid only at the very last moment.
Before we signed, the director was persuasive and quick to respond. Once the contract was signed and the deposit paid, communication collapsed entirely. Emails went unanswered, updates came only after repeated chasing, and deadlines were missed without explanation.
We have dealt with many trades during our renovation — most professional, some exceptional. BDF were the worst by far. They sell premium products but deliver service so poor that even "budget" would flatter it. Our builder and other trades were openly shocked by BDF's conduct and noted their name as a cautionary tale.
In short: based on our documented experience, including the outcome of County Court proceedings (in our favour), I consider BDF's conduct to have been dishonest, evasive, and entirely lacking in accountability. We paid a premium price for a Schüco AS FD90 installation and received faulty work, repeated failed visits, poor communication, and a refund obtained only through legal compulsion.
I would strongly caution anyone considering using this company.
IN ADMINISTRATION - buyer beware, the directors son has set a a new company Install and Service Limited (Company No.16980816, 20 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU) and is currently using the Bifolding Door Factory’s website to generate quotes which are directed to the new company. Doesn’t sound legal to me. Very unethical to restart again and the 10 year guarantee is worth nothing! Contacted the new company and they want £390 to fix a set of bifold they installed.
These guys have gone into administration:
Dear Sir or Madam
Please be advised that Sam Talby and Rob Coad of South West & Wales Business Recovery ("SWBR") were appointed Joint Administrators of the Company as of 9th January 2026.
I regret to inform you that following the appointment of administrators, the Company is unable to fulfill outstanding orders or provide refunds of deposits paid. Accordingly any deposit paid will comprise an unsecured claim against the Company in administration.
Please note, however, that, if your deposit was paid by credit card, you may have a legal right to a full refund from your credit card provider further to the provisions of Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. Alternatively if you paid by Debit Card you may be able to recover your funds through the Chargeback scheme. In both instances please contact your bank or credit card provider directly. These schemes are not available for deposits paid by bank transfer or in cash.
The Joint Administrators will shortly be writing to you with formal confirmation of their appointment, and also to provide a proof of debt form for you to complete and return. This will allow your claim to be registered in the Administration, however the potential for any distribution to creditors is currently uncertain.
Should you require any further information or wish to discuss the matter further, please contact Charlie Cooper of SWBR by email at charlie.cooper @ swbr.co.uk or telephone 0117 376 3523.
Have used this company previously and they were fine. Went with them again, paid 50% deposit and they have now gone BUST - receivers appointed 9th Jan. Now to claim back my money !!!
I unfortunately feel compelled to write this review out of frustration and concern. Is this company still trading? I have called several times and no-one picks up the phone! I have emailed this past week and no-one responds! The doors that I ordered should have been fitted this week, but I have heard nothing! I have given over half the money!! My builder is still waiting for drawings/plans so that he can complete the works. There really is no excuse for bad customer service!!
I rarely leave feedback but this has really annoyed me. I used this company five years ago and at that time they were ok, supplied everything in good time and had no problems. However I placed an order for replacements keys for my smart system door back in June and was quoted 6 week turnaround, it has now been 4 months and no sign of keys, communication is poor, nobody responds until you chase! I would really advise people to look elsewhere if they are looking for a good customer experience, reasonable time lines for receipt of goods and honest trustworthy communication.
This was the worst experience I’ve had buying a bifold door — and I’ve dealt with many suppliers. The company kept our project on hold for nearly six months, despite initially quoting a six-WEEK lead time. When the doors finally arrived, there were issues that remain unresolved.
We were given shifting excuses: first blaming Cortizo (which proved untrue after we contacted them directly), then citing internal ordering errors. After months of delays and inconvenience, the only apology was a £50 token — wholly inadequate.
In such a competitive market, companies that treat customers with this level of disregard shouldn’t be in business. Choose a supplier who values honesty and service.
We trusted Bifolding Door Factory after a positive experience back in 2010. So when our architect sourced a quote from another supplier for Cortizo sliding doors in agate grey, we chose to go back to the Bifolding Door Factory — confident in their past work. That decision now feels like a serious misjudgement.
Despite crystal-clear email instructions specifying the colour of the new windows should be agate grey, the BDF Director (who’s name has been referred to in multiple other posts) inserted anthracite grey into the contract’s fine print. We missed the change under pressure to sign quickly.
From then on, the service spiralled: updates were non-existent, emails and calls were routinely ignored, and every attempt to chase progress was met with silence or rudeness.
On the day of installation, I needed to check the contract as yet again emails requesting confirmation regarding logistics for the day had gone unanswered. It was at this point I noticed agate grey had been replaced by the Director with anthracite grey. I contacted the Director urgently. At first, he flat-out refused to accept any responsibility, hiding behind “you signed the contract, tough luck.” Eventually, he admitted he shouldn’t have changed the colour and acknowledged some fault — but has never explained why he altered the agreed specification. We’re left to conclude it reflects a concerning lack of respect for clients and an even deeper disregard for customer service.
We went ahead with the installation under duress, knowing that refusing would mean losing both the full £9k payment which had been made in advance and the frames. Since then, it’s been a painful battle to seek any kind of resolution. Emails and follow-ups ignored again — with the final response amounting to: you signed it, it’s your fault. Our last email has again gone unanswered, and so we feel like we have nowhere else to go.
Similar to others on Trustpilot, we also have received no installation instructions despite their policy stating these would be emailed 1 week before delivery.
Having spent £9k on windows which are in the wrong colour, without any effort to remedy the situation, we will be taking legal advice.
I suspect the Director will probably respond on here. Something defensive and about it being all our fault for not double checking his errors and signing a contract in good faith.
It appears from recent reviews that we’re not the only ones to have encountered similar issues with this company. I don’t think all of the feedback on here can be wrong. Rude customer service, broken promises, ignored communication.
In short, we regret not going with our architect’s recommendation. For anyone reading this: don’t make the same mistake.
—————
The response below from BDF, whilst unsurprising, is categorically untrue. Please be warned, read the other recent reviews, avoid.

To cut a very longer story short ordered bifold doors on the 31st January 2025 and finally received them the end of May 2025 despite their own website saying 25-30 working days.
Had to chase numerous times because had no communication from company at all with any updates. Numerous times I was told they were awaiting materials, given dates when materials where expected which came and went without any communication.
Eventually doors were ready then company tried to overcharge me.
After numerous emails back and forth I proved my point and the company conceded.
The delivery was arranged then the van supposedly broke down.
Finally received the bifold doors which I have to say are excellent quality, however the bifolding door company customer service definitely isn’t.
They might be slightly cheaper than other companies, however the saving is in no way worth the hassle and delays we had to endure, and I would never order from them again.

Ordered a set of Schuco ASFD 75 bifold doors at the beginning of December. Initially was impressed with the speed of communication and knowledge of the products/my situation. I paid a 50% deposit and was given a tentative delivery date of the end of January.
By the 21st Jan I hadn’t heard anything further so emailed for an update. A week went by without a response so emailed again. I was told they’re still waiting for the supplies and they would chase it up.
After another week I hadn’t heard anything further so emailed again for an update (10th Feb). I emailed again a week later as I still hadn’t heard anything - I didn’t get a response until 22nd Feb with a delivery date of 26th March. This didn’t happen.
I received an email on 27th March with a delivery date (with no mention of the last date being missed), and was asked for the remaining balance to be paid. What they failed to do was actually check that the materials were correct, as they had received them in the wrong colour. Furthermore, the contract states that the final balance would only be due when the doors had been manufactured, and just before delivery. They requested this before manufacturing had even been attempted - and before the materials had even been checked.
I was, obviously, not impressed with this! While receiving the wrong colour was Schuco’s fault there’s no excuse for not checking the material, and asking for the final balance in breach of contract.
After further delays (Schuco seemed to have a lot of trouble getting the materials coated correctly), and with a partial refund from BDF (after multiple requests), I received the doors on 28th March. Unfortunately, not without further issue.
The traffic door handle was in the wrong colour (despite this being clear on the contract) and a screw was present inside the door lock mechanism (which our builder found) - which was causing issues with the lift to lock. I complained and they said that they “…can’t see how this can have been done in our factory…” (trying to imply we were responsible for it being there despite the door panels coming fully assembled) but did at least apologise in any case and sent out a new handle and spindle (which had become marred by the screw).
We also received glass that didn’t exactly meet the contract. We ordered solar control glass with a u-value of 0.6. The glass had the solar control coating but didn’t have a coating on the internal pane of glass. This means, according to the manufacturer’s online calculator, that the glass would have a u-value of 0.8-0.9. We didn’t complain about this as we were too exhausted by the whole experience.
We also received no installation instructions despite their policy stating these would be emailed 1 week before delivery.
Really not impressed with Bifolding Door Factory! To take a 50% deposit (approx £2k) and then completely go no contact, and not respond after multiple emails, is just not acceptable. This caused stress and worry that we’d been scammed. Then we received a delivery date that was missed with no communication. Then they decided to breach their own contract and ask for the final balance before it was due. Then, once received, the specification was wrong as we received the wrong door handle colour, not quite correct glass, and a screw inside the handle mechanism.
BDF seems like an incredibly unprofessional company. They are apparently incapable of; responding to emails, communicating delays, following the terms of the contract and their own policies, accurately supplying the agreed specification, and basic quality control checks.
We received the doors 20 weeks after ordering. While not all of this delay was down to BDF, they didn’t make this easier to deal with. They caused a lot of stress, worry, inconvenience and impact to my health (I’m disabled). I’m sure you can buy similar doors from more competent and more professional companies!
Edit: 28/5
I received an email earlier from their Director asking me to delete this review:
“Respectfully could you remove your Trustpilot review. I am aware of the delay, and you were given a 439.73 discount for the delay. Before I respond to the review could remove it.”
He has also stated:
“Had you said you were going to leave such a review you would not have had a refund.”
I think that it’s completely unacceptable to get in contact directly (rather than through Trustpilot) and ask for a legitimate review to be deleted seemingly just because he doesn’t like it. Everything I wrote in my review is completely accurate (and the issues continued after receiving the partial refund) - which he does not contest. I believe he just feels it shouldn’t exist so should be deleted.
I have notified Trustpilot as I feel this undermines the point of the platform.

I regret to say that my experience with the Bifolding Door Factory has been extremely disappointing. Use the Bifolding Door Factory at your own peril - my rating would be zero stars if the system allowed it.
We placed an order for a side door and a front door with an individual glass panel; and signed the contract and paid the deposit on 8th August 2024. Yes, 8th August, and I am writing this on 25th March 2025 and we are still waiting for the front to be installed.
The company’s paperwork outlined a delivery and installation timeframe of 25-30 working days from the order date, which - again - was 8th August 2024.
The front door installation was carried out on 24th November. The old door was removed, and the new one was put in, but it was not checked before the installation that the side panel was actually manufactured incorrectly, so we had a hole in the front of the house until they resized the panel later that day. There were other issues with the installation, with the front door not matching the order specifications. The fitter was fully aware of the above, but no one from the Bifolding Door Factory contacted us at all. In the absence of their response we reported it to them on 26th November 2024, and four months later, the problem still hasn’t been resolved.
From the start, we repeatedly emphasised the importance of a timely installation, especially since we had builders scheduled to start at the end of November, as noted in our previous communications with Bifolding Doors Factory. Unfortunately, these requests were not accommodated.
The result has been a half-finished installation, leaving us with exposed brickwork, missing plaster, and bare foam for months. To make matters worse, the side door, which was promised to be installed earlier, wasn’t fitted until 21st January 2025 — long after our builders had finished their work.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, we’re entitled to have work completed within a reasonable time frame without undue inconvenience. We’ve been more than patient and flexible, but we continue to face delays and major disruption. Initially, we were told the work would be completed by the end of January, then we were told it won’t be finished until the last week of March, now it’s going to be in April.
Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the Bifolding Door Factory and would not recommend them based on my experience. The treatment is not only unacceptable as far as customer service and tradesman standards are concerned but highly disrespectful. We had to chase and call, and email, only to be ignored on numerous occasions and the problems still persist.

The doors and windows i ordered are fantastic, such good quality and were fitted by their own fitters who are very experienced and so the doors and windows are fitted perfectly. Very pleased and I’ll recommend this company to anyone in need of windows and doors!

I had been meaning to replace my old patio doors for ages, but I didn't know where to start. My mate Dave suggested Bifolding Door Factory, as he’d recently had a fantastic experience with them. I needed something durable and stylish that wouldn’t break the bank. The team were incredibly helpful, guiding me through their Schuco range and explaining the benefits of each model. I opted for the Schuco ASS70FD, and the installation was a breeze. The bifold doors have transformed my space, letting in so much natural light and making my home feel more open. Top-notch service from start to finish.

Great products from reputable brands (went for Smart aluminium). Good ordering process and competitive quote vs. other providers. Recommended to triple check our colour choice with samples which was a great idea and dealt with promptly via the post.
All measurements were accurate for no drama install.
Could have been 5* - just missing one for a slower-than-expected after sales service, although all was put right and now very happy with the products and the install. Will definitely call again for future work.
