We have just returned from a fantastic weekend away at Blackton Grange for my friends stag party. All 16 guests commented on how wonderful the accommodation was, it was perfect for any celebration. The kitchen had everything we needed and the table was big enough for us all to sit together to enjoy our food in style. The cinema/pool table/bar room were well used and the surrounding views were beautiful. The bedrooms were very comfortable and had everything you needed, i particularly enjoyed the master suite with balcony which was a lovely addition. The house was very spacious for anyone needing any down time away from the main celebrations. It was easy to get in touch with the staff before our stay & if i had any questions they were very responsive and incredibly helpful. There was a temporary problem with the hot tub just before our trip but Jodi went above and beyond to organise hiring one in for the duration of our stay which was up and running for our arrival!! We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend a stay here! Thank you!!

Wonderful place can not fault it

We attended Blackton Grange for a wedding party. I had not been to the area before, therefore was unsure what to expect. We were blown away by the breathtaking view as you drive alongside the reservoir. We knew at this point Blackton Grange was going to be rather special! The setting is absolutely beautiful and perfect for intimate ceremonies. The barn is warm and inviting and lends itself perfectly for the addition of bespoke caterers and decoration. Our brunch and family games the following day was a great example of how the room can be used for the full weekend and not just the wedding ceremony. The possibilities are endless with this exclusive venue which you can really make your own for the weekend.

The house is very impressive with beautiful decor and has clearly been finished to a high standard with the feel of luxury as well as home comfort. There is ample space for guests with each room offering all the comforts and luxury you would hope for. The kitchen is huge and is the perfect space for family get togethers. The cinema room was a big hit with the younger guests which allowed the adults to fully relax knowing everyone had a space to unwind after the party.

We will certainly return to Blackton Grange for future family celebrations and look forward to enjoying this magical space you have created again. There is so much more of the area we want to explore as well as enjoying a dip in the hot tub again. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

Blacktongrange is the most beautiful venue! The wedding was perfect. The scenery is stunning for photos and the barn is a beautiful mix of traditional with all the luxury touches. I’d highly recommend this venue. Stella and Jodi made the whole experience exceptional- we had a fabulous day x

Just back from a weekend at Blackton Grange for my husbands 40th, the house is unreal!! Everything a big group could want and more, and the ladies who manage it are fab, so helpful! Will definitely be back!

Blackton Grange is a stunning large house set in the most fabulous surroundings. We hired the house for an elopment wedding and it delivered!! The owners are incredibly supportive and nothing it too much trouble!! If you are looking for a well equipped, dry hire venue for a wedding of less than 20 people this is it!!

Blackton Grange Estate was absolutely incredible! Not only was the home amazing, the location was perfect. The correspondence with owners was brilliant too, quick responses and always happy to accommodate! We will definitely return.

Beautiful venue in a beautiful location, if I'd have known about this place sooner I'd have got married there 100%.

I’ve stayed here three times now and just getting round to writing a review ! I would return again. It’s perfect for a large group.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking for a lot of people. We went for some beautiful walks and enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor swing.
Could recommend getting Sainsbury’s as a food delivery. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back !

The two stars are for the impressive, beautiful house and the lovely location. Unfortunately I can’t give more than two stars due to the poor management of the property.
We booked my sister’s hen do through a third party (Groupia). We did not know when we booked, but we were the first booking made through Groupia. Blackton Grange unfortunately did not pass all relevant information on to Groupia so we didn’t receive important information about the house and facilities. They also provided Groupia with a chargeable maintenance contact number for our itinerary. After informing us that this number was for emergencies only when we used the number when we arrived and there was no heating in one of the bedrooms, one of the property owners gave us their personal number. When we used this number on Saturday afternoon, they did not respond to messages and phone calls when we required help with the log fired hot tub - due to not having enough logs provided and not knowing that we would only get a starter pack of eight logs as this was part of the important information that we never received!
We had no choice but to use the maintenance contact number so that we could use the hot tub on our only full day at the property. We have since had £50 of our behaviour bond held back for the five minute visit from a local farmer, who got us a few more logs from the log store. Phil, the farmer assured us that he wouldn’t charge us and would take it up with the owner, but the management have denied this and passed the charge on to us. Other visitors seem to have had similar issues with using the hot tub so I think this needs addressing by the owners.
After a week of not hearing anything and not receiving our behaviour bond refund, I had to chase up with both Groupia and the property to get back our £500 bond and after taking almost two weeks to refund it (even though it was supposed to be returned within 7 days) they then held some back for something which we feel is not our fault. I have sent countless emails to the management at Blackton Grange, but they do not seem to be in agreement that the fault was not ours.
This house has so much potential, but sadly there are some big issues which need to be addressed by the family who run and manage this property.

Stayed at Blackton Grange October 24. Lovely House and area. However our stay was spoiled when fire alarm went off 5 am 5.30 am and 6am Later learnt this was a regular occurrence We all felt tired after out 3 wake up calls Not a good start for day 2.
Also when trying to make use of the hot tub Found that this had to be heated by us lighting a fire under the tub and re stacking logs to keep it going. We spent a couple of hours doing this. Water didn’t get hot enough so we didn’t use it.

This house was perfect! We had an amazing stay at the River Grange Retreat for my sister’s hen do! The location was perfect lots of lovely walks and the views were amazing. We will definitely be back!!

We hired the house for a hen party for a long weekend and it was the perfect location. The house has been well thought out for both a family or large group of friends and every detail has been considered. It’s such a peaceful location with great hikes on the doorstep along with a pool table, cinema room and hot tub. The only downside was that we had to leave and come home!
Jodi was a great host and really helpful through the booking process along with recommendations.

A lovely location this hidden gem on the Pennine Way really caters for all events from weddings, hen parties, family get togethers, corporate team building events and fitness retreats. This is unique setting
creates the backdrop to an unforgettable experience for all who visit.

Great weekend spent at Blackton Grange. The full house was amazing, lovely decor and aesthetic. Very cosy and comfortable. Lovely kitchen for hosting, nice chill out areas, cocktail bar, pool tables and cold and hot tubs. Perfect place to stay to celebrate an occasion or for a lovely weekend away. So many nice walks and scenery around. All round amazing! Would definitely stay again.

Great weekend at an outstanding venue. Accommodation is one of the best I’ve ever stayed in, everything about it was first class. Beautiful views in a great remote area.

Can’t wait to go back!!

What an amazing stay at the River Grange Retreat! As maid of honour I wanted to plan the perfect hen do for my best friend, and the location and house did not disappoint.

When travelling up for the first time I would recommend arriving in the daytime so you can see where you are going as to get to the property you have to cross the dam, and open some gates where the sheep are - this we found brilliant coming from the city.

The house itself was just perfect. The downstairs is super impressive and gives everyone the WOW factor when you walk in. The kitchen was an amazing size and was perfect for when we had a private chef one evening. The bedrooms and bathrooms were beautifully decorated.

I couldn't recommend this property enough!

I recently stayed at BG for a weekend with my book club ladies. We all had such a wonderful time in this stunning accommodation which is situated in an equally stunning location. Extremely comfortable for large groups with enough space for everyone to come together or find a quiet moment to read. We didn’t read that much! Exploring the countryside on a ramble to a gorgeous pub 6 miles away and then relaxed in the hot tub. Fab place. Would highly recommend!

The most stunning location, beautiful house with amazing rooms, including a games room and a cinema room, huge lounge, cosy side lounge as well as a massive kitchen. They've just thought of everything and it's beautifully decorated with stunning bedrooms. We had the best girls weekend eating, chatting, cooking and drinking, including a walk through the stunning unspoilt countryside to a lovely pub. The place is breath-takingly beautiful. Can't recommend enough
