A well explained and practical experience given by a knowledgeable instructor.
Having the course one to one with the areas driven on being mostly free of other traffic is very helpful.
Trail braking and looking further ahead are the two best points which I used to great effect yesterday at Spa.

You don’t know, what you don’t know.
I did the same course 3 years ago yet I managed to learn even more. They brought my driving and car control along even further than before. Extremely well run, explained and with practical application.
I would recommend everyone consider doing this regardless of your ability. What ever your level you will learn something and come away a better and more confident driver for it.

Lynne, Jo and Steve did a fantastic job of hosting and instructing on our course. Steve's knowledge of car dynamics, engineering, driving craft and how the brain learns and develops new skills was the best you could have. Each lesson was a step in the process and when put together at the end of the day we were doing things in a car that we wouldn't have thought possible of ourselves at the start of the day. Everything was done with safety, control and confidence building in mind. I would thoroughly recommend any of the CAT Driver Training courses to anyone interested.

Its hard to know where to start! Its an exceptional company, with really friendly, approachable and highly capable people, who make you feel incredibly welcome and ensure that you get the best experience from your day. CAT Driver Training delivered a training day that was insightful, fun, stretching and gave you a set of advanced skills to apply to your everyday road driving! I would not hesitate to recommend them. I am still grinning from ear to ear!

CAT - Colin and Jo delivered an excellent training course again (cornering masterclass this time). Colin explains the engineering behind the techniques he teaches and you practice with him. I particularly like the way Colin builds the skills up during the day with them. You come away with genuine skills improvement (rare in my experience of driving courses), have a huge amount of fun and get to meet and spend time with like minded petrol heads ... many thanks again CAT !

Summary

Enlightening, highly informative, and incredibly educational. Learnt about dynamics and engineering of a car, corrected common misconceptions, and gained insight into the psychology of driving. Provided a greater understanding of a car's capabilities and limits, and how to control a car in more extreme conditions. Our instructor Steve was exceptional. The day’s activities provide a foundation and process to continually develop, learn, and improve.

I would highly recommend this course (and process) to anyone who wants to be a better and safer driver as well as those who want to take their driving to the next level.

My brother and I were looking for a driving experience where we would learn skills and improve as opposed to a day of adrenaline rush.

The Level 1 (one-day) course provided exactly what we were looking for. At a high level, we learnt about braking and cornering. Sounds ridiculous I know; any driver can brake and go around corners. However, everyday driving is focused on passenger comfort; it is not pushing the car or driver towards the upper limits nor focused around exiting corners at higher speeds.

Steve, the instructor, was excellent. Patient, tolerant, understanding, ensuring that we were relaxed yet focused. Prior to the day, I was concerned our instructor would view us as mere "punters” and run through the course as quickly as possible or churn us through the process with other plebs. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was clear that Steve has a passion for teaching as well as driving. His priority for the day was for us to understand and become better drivers without sacrificing safety. His care and diligence became clear the moment we met. This was a significant factor in the day being highly enjoyable.

The track (course/circuit) is amazing, and the support staff and administration was incredibly efficient, so a well-deserved shout out and thanks to Lynne.

I would say that the day’s activities were not cheap but given the one on one (or in our case, one on two) dedicated instruction and what we learned, I would strongly argue it was great value for the money. Furthermore, I view this as an investment as opposed to a one-time experience. If you want to go round a track several times in a supercar for an adrenaline rush, this is not the course for you. If you want to learn how to handle a car, gain a better understanding of car dynamics and physics, and become a better overall driver, then seriously consider this course.

Just completed track level 1 training with Steve, Had a great day, With well structured coaching, Steve created a safe environment, that felt right to drive the car far beyond what’s possible on road. Definitely recommend, hope to have further time with CAT.

For the seat time with this level of instruction, on closed roads, I dont think there's anything that compares.

Where do I start? I went on this course because I couldn’t understand why my M4 nearly lost control a few months ago. I felt I didn’t understand and couldn’t trust my car. With 530+ bhp the risk becomes very real and I decided I wanted to understand my car better.

I was a little skeptical initially about how much can somebody really teach me in a day. Oh my god… how wrong was I.

Steve was welcoming, friendly, mega-mega knowledgable and also patient. We started the day with briefing and what to expect as the day progressed. I went from excited to mega excited to oh …. moment. Will I be able to do this? I did and I loved every second of it.

We went through theory on why car behaves the way it does and then applied that theory in practice. Return to the base. Rinse. Repeat.

Then in the afternoon we put it all together on a track. Slowly building my pace to the point where I was doing consistent laps, not taking risk and understanding what my car was doing. We then had sudden rain, but it didn’t deter Steve at all. It was a learning opportunity and we worked through that.

Honestly. Hand on heart. The best money I’ve ever spent. I’ll be back for level 2 track driving and I finally, after six month, feel like I now understand my car better and we merge into one.

I am exhausted, but very happy. Thrilled. Humbled. Intrigued to learn more.

Millbrook is a hell of a facility by the way, and my M4 is an absolute beast. To fellow BMW drivers, you won’t regret this.

This is my fourth visit to CAT driver training.
I have done track days and driver training over many years but this is by far the best.
Millbrook is so varied with plenty to challenge my driving skills.
Each time I learn more about my car , myself and how to improve my driving and ultimately my enjoyment for driving my car.
Colin , Jo and Lynn are an amazing team and have found the perfect balance of friendliness and professionalism.
Colin’s coaching is superb and my confidence to drive quicker and safer makes me want to go back again soon.

Would recommend without hesitation

I just did the Performance Driver Group training and it was brilliant. Colin is so knowledgeable about the engineering and mechanics of cars, as well as how to drive them. During the course of the day the activities we did were all designed to teach us the process of getting us to drive our cars better. I learnt so much and left the day a better driver. I will definitely be back!

Great setup, fantastic location, and an outstanding instructor in Steve. He struck the perfect balance—never pushing me beyond my comfort zone, but constantly building confidence through clear, precise guidance.

I came away with a whole set of skills I honestly wouldn’t have thought possible in just one day, along with a much deeper appreciation for the engineering and capability of my own car.

Everything was explained, discussed, and analysed brilliantly throughout what was a truly superb day.

The event was well organized and delivered, with outstanding instruction that focused on improving both car knowledge and driving skills. The relaxed, one-to-one guidance from an experienced instructor made it even more enjoyable. I’ll definitely return—great day.

I have owned my E90 M3 for 7 years, but only after a shared day at CAT am I able to drive it as it was intended. Our instructor Steve broke down each element of cornering at pace, describing the "why" and with use of the brilliant Milbrook facilities got us to practice each "how". By the end I felt confident pushing my car at the grip limit on their challenging track. A fun and highly educational day - thank you.

Colin and the team behind the scenes were a pleasure to deal with. Training was tailored to my needs with the car, specific, intensive, rewarding and satisfying when the confidence comes. Colins knowledge and coaching skills were brilliant. Excellent provider would highly recommend.

Completed the Track Level 2 on 12th March, another totally amazing day. Learnt so much from the first one which was hugely noticeable on a track day so had to go back for Level 2 and was not disappointed. Steve was excellent, whole team is, certainly will be going back for the other levels after a few more track days. Very enjoyable, relaxed but also intense basically exactly what your going there for and more.

I have used CAT Driver over the years for training on circuit. Colin and Paul have always been to the point and deliver exactly what is required. They will understand what is that you want, what is the mistake you do and work through to rectify, improve and potentially relieve the hidden talent of driver in you.
An injection of confidence is what we need after all!
