Ivan is a super experienced coach and trainer. He knows a lot about how to drive both on road and track and the skills that I have learned will make me a far better driver. He blends the right amount tension and friendliness into a bespoke/tailored 2/3days. I can still hear Ivan speaking to me when I am driving!

Just completed a 2 day course with Ivan and really enjoyed it and learned so much more than I expected. Having a performance car I wanted to ensure I was getting the best out of it and also I was safe as I drive at higher speeds. We all think we are great at the wheel but you are never to old to learn.
Putting skills into practice at Millbrook and learning how the car handles in a safe environment really helps build confidence before we had a full day on the Cambridgeshire B roads. Ivan challenged my thinking and pointed out some areas for improvement and things I can develop.
Now to trick will be to put what Ivan has taught me into practice over the summer months. I would 100% recommend and can see me booking more time to Ivan to keep improving and building on the skills I've learnt further.

I approached Total Car Control primarily to gain more confidence driving at the limit in a track environment. After a phone conversation with Ivan one evening, I decided on-road tuition would be worth adding as well so booked two days at Millbrook and a day on the road.

After decades driving and a keen motorcyclist with an IAM Advanced Rider qualification I expected to pick up some feedback and get to improve my technique in a safe environment but I never expected to have my fundamental approaches to driving to be revised so thoroughly.

The two days at Millbrook were great for both improving technique (you think you're smooth, Ivan will make you smoother!) but also for really understanding how great modern performance cars and tyres really are. The road surface was largely damp to wet and by the end of the two days I was driving smoother and swifter while also being safe, with reasonable margin for error than I'd ever have thought possible. I came away ready for day 3 on the road and intrigued as to what we'd be covering.

The third day in fact quickly became the highlight for me which was not something I was expecting. Having Ivan in the car critiquing (always fairly) and narrating the road was a real privilege and it broke so many assumptions of my level of driving. By the end of the day I really could feel all the lessons coming together, technique, vision, smoothness and an increased respect for the road and other vehicles. I learned as much about driving at 20-30mph in built-up areas as I did about car control at higher speeds.

I can guarantee if you've not done something similar before and go through a few days with Ivan, your driving performance will be at a completely different level by the end and I'd add you'll gain some new appreciation and joy for driving at all speeds.

I couldn't recommend training with Ivan at Total Car Control any higher and fully plan to return in the future to ensure constant investment in my driving performance.

Driving with Ivan is challenging - in a good way. I thought I was a smooth driver.......oh dear!! After two days at Millbrook I have come away with a new 'toolkit' of techniques that will take time and practise to commit to muscle/brain memory, but my driving has already much improved. My new understanding of the car's capabilities makes driving much more enjoyable - and confident.

I completed a two-day course with Ivan, one at Millbrook and another on the road. An outstanding experience, with every minute feeling genuinely tailored to me, my experience and skill level. I came away with new confidence, practical insights and plenty to reflect on. Also, a top bloke with the right balance of strict, friendly and "approachable". Can't wait for the next one!

Being driving for over 40 years with no further tuition (apart from speed awareness courses) this course was well overdue.

I’ve never been a boy racer but have been fortunate to have some lovely powerful cars, the time was overdue to bring my skills up to date and Ivan’s expert tuition was just what I needed.

The two days at Millbrook demonstrated just how good modern cars are and the driving aids they are equipped with was proven on those days as I was able to push the car and myself to limits simply not affordable on the UK’s roads.

The methods and tasks introduced by Ivan built up progressively and culminated to a great third day on some excellent B roads where everything could be put into practical use.

In short it opened my eyes (literally) to a much better way to drive not just quicker but much much more safer.

I had a full days course with Ivan at Millbrook

The reason I did the course was to improve my driving and learn a little more about my cars abilities as I was doing a 2,000 mile driving trip to the Pyrenees

The course was very intense and got me out my comfort zone on several occasions

I was surprised how poorly I went around the first course compared to Ivan but by the end of it felt I had a better understanding of driving quicker, smoother and thinking about were I should position the car

On the car I was very surprised how much grip there was and again on the braking exercises which did give me a lot more confidence

I have now completed my trip and feel I enjoyed it considerably more than I would have before and in a safer manor

After some 40 years of driving it’s taking a lot to change some bad habits but having said that I am really enjoying driving my car and feel a lot safer as a result

Now looking forward to the next alpine adventure

Having previously been an observer for the IAM and spent a lot of time driving I thought I was a good driver but the things Ivan pointed out proved otherwise!
He provided great insight into the effects of my actions, a huge amount of guidance in practical ways as to how to improve and as a result has greatly increased the amount of pleasure I get from driving.

I booked an advanced driving session with Ivan at Total Car Control at Millbrook Proving Ground ahead of a planned road trip through the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps, and I’m so glad I did.

Ivan’s instruction was calm, precise, and incredibly effective. We covered wet handling, drifting control, advanced braking, and how to maintain composure when driving at speed or in unexpected conditions. His way of breaking everything down made it easy to absorb and apply straight away.

I am a very experienced driver but wanted to enjoy increased confidence in the driving seat of my high performance cars. Ivan has delivered this in several significant ways including giving me a better understanding of the dynamics of the vehicle. I can highly recommend the three day course, two amazing days at Millbrook test ground then a final day on the road, Ivan has improved my driving enjoyment and confidence no end. I wish I had done it years ago.

Ivan from TTC was excellent in helping me get the most out of my MR2 on track. He quickly picked up on where I was leaving performance on the table and gave clear, practical feedback that made an immediate difference to my lines and cornering. His calm, confidence-boosting style made it easy to push the car harder while staying in control. I signed up for two days training with Ivan following a discussion on what I wanted to achieve. My aim was to understand my car better and learn to drive it in a safe manner due to the many features it has. Some of them that I was not comfortable driving with without learning first.

Ivan tailored the two days to my exact needs and I came away from Millbrooke not only more knowledgeable in my own skills but more in tune with the car.

Each day started with a briefing on car dynamics and how certain forces can upset the cars equilibrium. This information was then applied to the tracks. Millbrooke is impressive with many different options form road conditions.

Spent the day with Ivan at Millbrook as a refresher since I hadn’t been driving sport cars for 5 years. The day was tailored to my requirements and Ivan was spot on with his instruction. Came away with a refreshed confidence and all my goals ticked, plus some new techniques to practice before we meet again.

I didn’t know what to expect going into this experience, but quickly started to learn and understand so much when it comes to so many elements affecting so many elements of car control!
Ivan’s so experienced and has such a natural way of coaching.
I learned so much on the 2 days at Millbrook, it cannot be underestimated what can be achieved in a controlled environment. Then the 3rd day out on the road really helped tie everything together.
Frankly the roads would be a better place if every driver got the opportunity to have this experience!

I have just had the most enjoyable day of driver training with Ivan.
Ivans driving ability is phenomenal and he is excellent at passing his knowledge across.
The Millbrook roads are very demanding and are based on real road conditions.
The smoothness of Ivans driving (at any speed) is truly a crafted art.
Having experienced what it is like as a passenger, it made me want to improve my own driving.
My drive home after the days training was so much more enjoyable than my drive to the venue. I felt more confident, safer and it made me love my car with a new excitement.
I cannot recommend this day enough and look forward to booking more training with Ivan.
