SAFETY WARNING: Defective product, zero gaskets, fake IP55 rating
UPDATE: Full refund received and product completely removed from sale.
EDIT: Following my review, Celestre UK kept in steady communication with me, apologised, and have now issued a full refund. Crucially, they have also taken the Beve Lantern completely off their website.
While the initial assembly and design issues were frustrating, the company has shown genuine accountability by pulling the product line to protect other buyers and sorting out my refund. I am updating my rating to reflect their positive action and good customer service in resolving this. My original review of the product design remains below for context.
Do not trust the specifications on this website. I ordered the Celestre Beve outdoor lantern, which is explicitly advertised as an "IP55 weatherproof" fixture. On top of taking six weeks to arrive (an additional annoyance), the product itself is an absolute safety hazard and completely unfit for outdoor installation.Fake IP Rating & Zero Seals: For an item to legally carry an IP55 rating, it must withstand dust and low-pressure water jets from any angle. This lantern arrived with absolutely zero rubber or silicone gaskets. There are unsealed paths around the structural screws, the glass panels, and crucially, where the main arm connects to the top of the lantern enclosure. The design relies entirely on a raw metal-to-metal screwed connection with no seals or protective overhangs. If rained on, water would seep straight past this unsealed joint and down the vertical channel directly onto the live electrical components.Defective & Loose Bulb Holder: The mechanical engineering is shocking. The internal ceramic bulb holder is expected to sit inside a loose metal sleeve with absolutely no threading, grooves, or clips to secure it to the lantern stem. As a result, the live socket is held in place solely by the tension of the electrical wires—a massive breach of fundamental electrical safety regulations. When I challenged customer service, they sent irrelevant assembly videos for a completely different model and claimed the item relies on "gravity sheds" and "overlaps" for protection. This is an explicit admission that it does not meet IP55 water-jet compliance.
I had to completely scrap their internal parts, buy an off-the-shelf plastic lamp holder, earth the metal casing properly myself, and manually source my own rubber gaskets to make this light safe to put on an exterior wall. Customer service will just bury you in delay tactics and meaningless replies. Do not risk your property or your money buying from this site.
