I need to get the word out about my horrific experience with ChangeHero.

This company has outright frozen my money and is holding it hostage without any just cause! I initiated a swap through Exodus, and since then, I have been under constant scrutiny. I have presented every possible document, including identification screenshots and other evidence, yet they keep asking the same questions and refuse to release the money I worked so hard for. This is not just a small amount; it’s $21,000 that I have saved over a long period. Their blatant disregard for my rights and well-being is infuriating.

What they have done has not only caused me immense financial distress but has also taken a toll on my family and our lives. To make matters worse, they are extorting me! I am currently in the process of working with a private attorney to fight back against this injustice. I refuse to let them get away with this, and I will not stay silent until justice is served!

I want everyone to know that ChangeHero is not a trustworthy company. I will not hesitate to share my experience widely and warn others about their deceitful practices. No one should have to go through what I have endured. Please be cautious and consider this before engaging with them!

I hope to edit this review when they finally do justice and return my money.

fake! payment done but nothing received

My experience with ChangeHero was deeply disappointing.

I initiated a crypto swap through their platform, which was advertised as fast and easy. Instead, the transaction took over 7 hours to complete — far exceeding the typical processing time and causing serious uncertainty.

I reached out to their support team via email and their official Telegram group multiple times. While they acknowledged the delay was due to a third-party provider, I received no clear communication or timeframe, and my follow-up questions were completely ignored after the transaction was finally completed.

Even worse, I received significantly fewer tokens than originally expected, and no one explained why. I was left guessing whether it was due to market slippage, fees, or something else entirely — but the complete lack of transparency and accountability was unacceptable.

If you value timely transactions and reliable customer support, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. This was my first and last time using ChangeHero.

ChangeHero stole $100,000 from me.

I used SwapSpace to swap USDC to USDT, and my transaction was routed through ChangeHero. That’s when everything went sideways.

They suddenly demanded additional verification — not through a secure KYC provider with proper data protection policies, but by asking me to email my documents directly to them. That’s a massive red flag. This is exactly how sensitive data ends up on the darknet and gets exploited by criminals for KYC fraud on other platforms.

I refused to send my documents via email, and as a result, my funds were frozen.

Now they’re saying I might get only $90,000 back, while they’ll keep $10,000 as a so-called "processing fee" per their policy — an outrageous and predatory practice.

It gets worse: when I requested a refund, their support agent sent me the wrong wallet address and asked me to confirm it. I can't say for sure if it was an honest mistake or a deliberate attempt to misdirect funds — but either way, it's extremely suspicious.

I'll update this review in a week with the outcome. But for now, stay far away from ChangeHero. They are either dangerously incompetent or straight-up scammers.

ChangeHero never disappoints

I needed assistance with an exchange. They were courteous and efficient, and my problem was solved within minutes

I am so happy with the service I get from ChangeHero. I can easily swap my crypto, and their rates are always competitive

I strongly advise against using ChangeHero.

I wanted to make an exchange of 0.5 BTC to LTC through SwapSpace and I made the very bad decision to choose Changehero for this exchange. ChangeHero blocked my 0.5 BTC under the pretext of KYC.

I provided an ID and a photo of myself as initially requested by Changehero. But that did not unblock the situation. Changehero then sent me this second message:

"Thank you for providing the required documents for KYC verification.
After checking the documents, the compliance team deemed it necessary to request additional information.
We kindly ask you to provide us with your phone number and a statement from your mobile operator confirming that the number is registered under the same name as in your documents.
We also ask you to provide the source of funds. This is the document that represents the origin of the funds that were sent to ChangeHero for the exchange (e.g. your transaction history where it is clear that the account belongs to you, your crypto purchase sent for fiat, bank statement or other documents demonstrating the fact that you obtained the amount of crypto in question).
We would like to ask you to demonstrate:
- how you obtained the fiat currency to buy cryptocurrencies (or simply your source of fiat income confirmed by a bank statement or tax declaration)
- how you purchased the cryptocurrency (supported by screenshots screen shot of your verified account on a major crypto platform that you use)"

This type of verification is normally only requested by major exchanges when reselling in fiat currencies. Never for a simple crypto to crypto exchange, have I seen such questions in almost 10 years of cryptos.

Changehero then told me that if I did not want to submit to such sensitive and dangerous questions for my security, it could in this case refund my 0.5 BTC minus 10% fees. Yes, you read that right: 10% FEES!!!

I am a French citizen and I have always made my crypto declarations and paid my crypto tax every year to the tax authorities of my country. But I refused to transmit such confidential information to an exchange like ChangeHero that I know very little about and even less by email as requested.

I waited 3 days in anxiety for my refund. Changehero ended up refunding me 0.45 BTC and not 0.50 BTC. So Changehero took 0.05 BTC from me, or nearly $5,000 at the current rate!!!
ChangeHero hides behind the KYC/AML crypto regulations and their internal rules that allow them to keep 10% of the sums if they consider that the supporting documents provided are not sufficient. However, I provided an ID, a photo of myself and even a screenshot of my wallet with the sending of the 0.5 BTC in question. I am disgusted by such practices and I will consult my legal protection to find out whether or not I should take legal action on this mishap.

I tried to make an exchange 1.2 btc for xrp from my exodus wallet unfortunately the third party was changehero conducting the swap 5 hours had gone by and swap said failed yet funds were not in my wallet I contacted changehero and they started with a kyc process as an excuse to why my btc hasn't been returned I've sent them everything asked for kyc and they seem to keep coming up with more questions and no resolution is coming about this matter it's been 4 days I have been separated from my money. They asked for proof of where funds came from I told them I have money from selling a watch they asked for receipt I provided it then they ask me where I got the watch proof of that and payment for it as if it's their business yet I provided that along with pictures of my bank accounts and open loans I have. It seems they keep asking for very rediculous things that for sure don't apply to a regular kyc also upon the terms they claim they would refund funds if kyc could not be performed or refusal I tried that also and they won't return my money I would be very careful where you conduct swaps from. I'm hoping this issue can be resolved and they give me my money back I will update if they send my money of they don't I will seek criminal and civil suits them and make sure they can't keep doing this to other people. If they refund me I will update on here.

it works well for simple trades, but the lack of advanced features limits its appeal for serious traders. Customer support is helpful but could be faster.

I wanted to change my ETH to Solana which i store from 2022 which i bought for cash. They blocked me and asked for KYC. They are asking for ridiculous documents
"-the way you have purchased the cryptocurrency (supported by screenshots of your verified account on a major crypto platform you use)"

They see that i bought these ETH in 2022 and i don't have any documents from 2022. Still waiting for reply from them for more than a day right now.

Hopefully my tax declaration + sale deed agreement from 2022 will be enough for them.

These idiots have frozen my money. Two hours passed, support is not replying!!! Don't use it. Better use Binance. This exchange is just a scam!

My bank stopped providing money exchange services. I'm remote from other alternatives and did not want to have to worry about conversion of money at the airport. recommended ChangeHero. I was very pleased at the ease and promptness of the service. Thanks.

I made a swap using ChangeHero on a Tangem wallet and they froze the trade for a KYC audit. I had to send a picture of my transaction number and my drivers license for them to unfreeze my trade. It’s been over 3 hours with no change. I have been making swaps on my Tangem wallet for over a year now and never had anything like this happen before. DO NOT ever use them for an exchange ever. You have been warned.
