Fantastic Service From Check Challenge Appeal. Communication was superb and charged a very reasonable rate. I would highly recommend this company.

Our Accountant put us in touch with CCA due to a big increase in our Rateable Value in April. We were on the understanding that nothing could be done and just had to grin and bear it. All we had to do was register on the Government Gateway site and CCA did the rest obtaining a decent reduction which will carry us through to April 2026.
As we own the property the detailed survey that was furnished to us will no doubt come in useful in the future.

Our local authority advised us that an appeal on our business rates might leave us worse off financially so we decided to just leave it.
Check Challenge Appeal contacted us and said on paper we were overrated but needed to visit the premises to be sure. The data they showed us on allowances we could claim were supported from the VOA website who actually set the rates. Sure enough a sizeable reduction was realised & back dated 4 years. The appeal was concluded in about 10 weeks.

Yes they managed to get a rebate, however, I constantly had to chase for an update. Also during the hard sale I was offered a reduction in commission from 50% to 10%.

I've just received invoice that is calculated at 30% of the liability saving. This reduction was not achieved through a reduction in rateable value.
They "applied other allowances which is covered in section 3 of your terms. Any saving in liability achieved by ways of any allowances are invoiced at 30%."

Based on the upfront charge of >£1000 the fee's incurred equate to 50% for what they managed to reclaim.

Would be interesting to see if their competitors charge the same???

We have been very happy with the work carried out by Check Challenge Appeal since day one. From the very first assessment that resulted in a back dated Business Rate rebate too, more recently, changes to our business footprint. They are very knowledgable and always helpful.

We had used another company to appeal our business rate assessment many years ago which was successful. However our agent took a hefty ‘cut’ of the overall saving. We instructed CCA Ltd to appeal and they managed to garner an even larger saving but just charged us 50% for one years saving. I would advise anyone to read the contract carefully whichever company they decide to go for.

Our landlord felt that our rates were excessive so put us in touch with this company who had appealed one of his properties successfully.
Managed to obtain us a decent reduction and considerable rebate although the government is putting our rates up again in April!

Although initally the result I was looking for from Check Challenge Appeal didn't go the way I'd hoped. I have been dealing with Mike on recent accounts for further enquiries and he has been faultless so I thank him very much for his hard work. He is very attentive and wants the best for you.

I have been requested by CCA Ltd to write this review which I am happy to do. I had in fact attempted a business rates appeal on a previous premises many years ago but became bogged down in detail and gave up. CCA approached me on my new site and were able to get a 5 figure reduction which included backdates to 2017. Would certainly recommend this company to help out with an increasingly burdensome tax on small businesses.

After a bit of back and fourth we eventually did get our business rates reduced , Mike came through and we did get a discount. It was a slow process but Mike made an extraordinary Effort to resolve the situation after an initial slow response. Thanks
