1.-Company and instructions need work.

1.-Not a complainer. Almost never write reviews.
2.-Assembly instructions: many bolts not labeled -at all-. ie: "Use bolt PP" but all labeling ended at H. Figured it out on my own . Drawings lacking. Need to remove pins on both side to assemble corectly but it's not mentioned anywhere
3.-Bougt early October. Received few days AFTER Black Friday promotion. They wouldn't honor/price adjust because purchase was "> 30 days ago", even though they took 7 weeks to deliver. Wouldn't even extend me a 1 or 2 month free subscription. So, a company wanting to develop long term relationships can't even greet a newcomer with some token no-skin-off-their-nose courtesy. Doubt the culture is customer oriented given this interaction.It's all about the $$$. Dissapointed.
4.-Workout is intense BTW. Have only used a few times. 10 minutes > intense than 20 mins on my Concept2 rower. Max resistance , as others have mentioned, doesn’t create that noticeable a difference. Room for improvement on that front for sure.

Brand New CLMBR Not Showing Metrics (fixed)

See my UPDATE (or UPDT?) below. Here is my original review:

I just received my CLMBR yesterday, about 4 months later than originally estimated, but given the worldwide supply chain problems, it was somewhat expected and it didn't bother me. The XPO tracking was good and I received text updates, including one 30 minutes before arrival.

I had already opted for a cash refund in exchange for choosing to assemble it myself. Unboxing was uneventful, except there was a supplement included that updated the list of hardware. I discovered later that this supplement reversed the ID letters for two of the bolts, but the mistake was obvious and didn't cause any issues. What did prove to be difficult was aligning the axles to the center console. You need to align two sets of holes and it just wasn't happening. I finally noticed two removable pins in the pulleys at the top of the supports that prevented any movement in the pulley system. This seems like a good idea for shipping purposes, but the instructions never mentioned them (I checked twice) and it wasn't until I removed them that I was able to rotate the gears (a tip I only discovered when watching an assembly video that I had to hunt down on their support site) and get the holes to align. In addition, it is very easy to strip the bolts, which have a low-quality look about them.

There were also a couple of times where I had to go to their website to see pictures of the assembled units to properly orient certain parts, like the dip bars. The pictures in the assembly manual are not clear enough.

All in all, the assembly process needs some refinement. It's pretty clear this is a startup and I'm sure they have their hands full, but many people will be frustrated if these issues aren't fixed soon.

Once I was done with the assembly, the CLMBR looked nice and I was excited to try it. I powered on the display, downloaded the mobile app and went through the account creation process. When I was ready, I chose the Just Climb option so I could test it out. The screen with all the metrics came up and I started to climb...and nothing on the screen updated. Just a whole lot of zeros staring back at me. I tried climbing faster, but nothing changed. Hmmm. I tried power cycling the machine, but still got the same result.

I submitted a ticket to support (this was on a Friday afternoon) and just received an answer less than 24 hours later. Unfortunately, the only advice given so far was to power cycle the machine, which I had already done.

Aside from the non-working metrics, the other thing I've noticed so far is the somewhat noisy/clunky pulley mechanism. Perhaps I won't notice once I'm involved in a class, but I was expecting the mechanics to be a little smoother.

UPDATE:

About 10 days after I submitted my support ticket, a technician scheduled a Facetime call to help me diagnose the machine. After removing the dip bars and the bottom panel from the console, we went through the various connections to the control board and eventually discovered a USB-C connector was loose (the console comes fully assembled, so it either came loose in transit or wasn't properly inserted at the factory). After I re-inserted the connector, the metrics worked. Both the technician and I were relieved.

I've completed a few workouts now and I'm very happy with the machine. I still think it's a bit noisy, but I have my machine in the garage, so it's fine.

I also have a Peloton, and the workout experience and quality of instructors is very similar, but the one thing that seems to be missing, for now, is the leaderboard. There is no way to compare your metrics to others, either during class or afterward. Hopefully, that feature is coming soon.

What CLMBR has that Peloton doesn't is a benchmarking system. You're prompted to complete certain benchmarks, like how far you can climb in 30 seconds, or how long it takes you to climb 500 feet, and then you'll be prompted to retake those benchmarks about 60 days later to see if you've made any improvement. You can view your benchmark history at any time. It's a nice motivational tool.

The other thing I like about CLMBR vs Peloton is the login process. Once you've got the CLMBR mobile app set up and your account created, you connect to the machine by entering a 6-digit code. This is much faster than logging in to the machine by entering your email and password and would make using a friend's CLMBR easier.

All-in-all, CLMBR looks very promising, but just know that they need to iron out some quality control and installation issues.

Worth the wait

It took a while for my machine to come in, but it was well worth the wait! I have tried many different workout machines, but this is by far the best workout and fits right into my busy work/life schedule. Even a 15 min workout breaks up a major sweat and has me energized for the day. The classes are great and I especially love Ackeem and Courtney’s classes! Plus it takes up way less space than my bike did.

2 months in…

So I ordered my Clmbr on the starter site.. finally came— was dropped off nicely at our house by there was no white glove service as promised. It took a few hours but finally got it together.. the free subscription did not work for the first 3 weeks. Customer Service was actually picking up the phone at first to help.. but now my handlebars are broken and no one seems to answer. I’ve been waiting for a response from the Service team for weeks now after I emailed over the technical issue. Now after using it for about a month I have to say small things bother me- there’s noises that come from the sliders and for the price you would expect it built like a Pelaton. The handlebars jiggle around because the buttons are stuck. I wish the intensity level could be turned up higher…
Pros: good workout but pretty sure not going to keep the subscription.. you can do most of it on your own

Best new addition to my home gym!

This machine is the bomb and provides an incredibly effective, zero impact workout. The instructors are so well trained and motivating. Combine this with the wide variety of class choices, from length of time to level of intensity, and I am getting the best workout ever. Also, the delivery and set up were seamless.

Awesome only begins to highlight my experience. The machine and workout is an absolute joy. I had a couple questions along the way after my order and CLMBR's customer service was awesome and dedicated to helping me get all my questions answered.

I thought I was excited before my order arrived but then I was blown away once it got to my house. The machine is beautiful and the workouts are awesome!

Still waiting for my CLMBR… My last…

Still waiting for my CLMBR… My last review was in August 27… Once again I had my hopes up! I received a message on October 11, that I will be contacted to schedule delivery day. Still haven’t be contacted and they said it will take up to 2-3 weeks… I am now WEEK 4… shows how much this CLMBR customer service, manager, etc DO NOT CARE of my health. I do not like mentioning that I am disabled person but it is what it is and that’s why I need my machine.

I just got my clmbr today! I ordered it in April. It's a new company. It's a global pandemic. There are massive supply chain problems worldwide. It's a fantastic machine and worth the wait! This is a new company built from the ground up. I'm sure there were some challenges. But today I got it and it doesn't disappoint. I'm sure future orders will be quicker. White glove delivery was excellent and bottom line is.... it is worth the wait! I love that the resistance goes to 11!

CLMBR is a joke. I have been waiting 6 months. Getting the same email every week. 1-3 weeks. CLMBR says it's taking longer because of my location to the distribution center, but just found out this morning I can get one at best buy in 4 days. This company does not care about its customers. Do not support this company. You can go to the gym for 5 years for the price of this machine.

Fingers crossed the New One is as amazing as the promises!

UPDATE #2: CLMBR replaced my machine. The install team was great. Fast, communicative, professional. (much better than the ryder driver that dropped and left the first one.) They did a wonderful job. The new machine is much better. Much quieter, smoother. The gear/resistance knob seems to work better as well. I can feel more difference between 1 and 11. (Although, to be fair, I wish it went up higher than 11. For squats and "heavy" work 11 just isnt enough for me and I'm a pretty petite 5'3".) There are still issues with the wifi connection. IT still freezes regularly or looses connection all together. We have had to order a hot spot for the room it is in. But laptops, tablets, etc do just fine connecting in that room 🤔. hopefully the hot spot fixes the issues and I can actually complete a workout straight through.

UPDATE: I just had a call from the founders. They are going to replace my glitchy CLMBR. I am looking forward to getting my new CLMBR and (fingers crossed) revising this to to a 5 star review soon.

I was so incredibly hopeful for this piece of equipment. I am a group fitness instructor and need need quick efficient workouts for my busy schedule. I expected delays with a crowd source funded project, but 5+ months was pretty frustrating. Then I got a call saying I’d have to put it together myself after paying for white glove delivery and install, that sucked. Now the system is glitchy AF. None of the video climbs work, they all keep freezing. The gear resistance doesn’t go high enough to be challenging. I’ve tried reaching out for help and though everyone is very nice, no-one is actually helpful. The paint start chipping after one climb. And 20 minutes into that same first climb it started to make a horrible clicking/clunky noise. I really want to like the CLMBR, but it’s just not a finished product. I’m disappointed that they shipped a half assed attempt and charged so much for it. DO NOT PURCHASE.

Update: Still no help. I have been repeatedly asked to send pictures and videos of the equipment malfunctioning. I have complied. Only to receive very polite emails saying they have no idea when anyone will be able to assist me. That they don't know when the engineers will have a chance to review my videos and offer advice on how to fix the problems. AND they have no clue when they will be able to send a tech out to fix the horrible noises that the machine makes when in use. I've tried calling as well and the last time I tried calling, no one even bothered to answer the phone or return my call.

More and More failed Promises

Clmbr's promise to receive my unit by the end of October was the 5th failed promise of their company.

1st: July 2021
2nd: August - September
3rd: September-October
4th:October 14th
5th: By the end of October

This is not acceptable and poor business practice

I have been more than patient to only receive more and more failed promises from this company. They give excuses of Covid distribution issues while LeBron and Dane Cook received theirs months ago. I firmly believe the company does not care about its customers and were simply looking for interest free funding from customers who would eventually cancel due to their ridiculously bad distribution management.

I have heard stories of at least 3 people who received theirs broken as well. If this happens to me I will surely cancel the payment and I'll wait 8 months to allow them to pick it up just as they have done to me

Clmbr is making me a stronger runner and rider!

I ride or run everyday. I recently added Clmbr to my training and I am amazed at how much work I am able to do in a short period of time. My body feels great and I can already notice results and improvements in my running and riding. Amazing product and training!

Do not buy CLMBR (updated- buy with patience)

Do not buy CLMBR. I purchased the CLMBR as a founding member on the day it launched (Dec 1, 2020) and I am customer #128. The estimated ship date at the time of purchase was May 2021. I did not receive it until October 1, 2021 and experienced all of the same issues that the other reviews had with the delivery process. I have tried to be understanding as they launched a new product in a pandemic but after not being able to reach any of the "assemblers" we decided to try and assemble ourselves with the help of their video and actually it is pretty easy to assemble yourself - if you don't have a defective unit which I do. I immediately reached out to Support and for the 1st week Aaron was pretty responsive. Once it was determined that I would need to have a new part shipped to me he has now said I will need to wait until late Nov/Dec as they have no system in place for replacement parts. I am stuck with a unassembled unit that is spread all across our quest room making the room unusable for the holidays. I purchased for $2000 11 months ago and I am dead in the water here. Good luck

update 12/13/2021 - still waiting. Just called again (after being ghosted for a couple weeks) and was told that maybe my part will ship out towards the end of the week. PROCEED WITH CAUTION

It has been about 5 weeks since I finally received the replacement part and I have about 25 workouts logged on the machine (according to CLMBR I completed equivalent to Mt Everest about a week ago. There is no question the workout is far superior to any machine I have ever used and I have tried them all. Sweat just pours off of you and this is one of the only ways I can get my heart rate above 140 sustained since I can no longer run due to bad knee. They would need to pry my CLMBR out of my cold, dead hands to get me to give it up. But you better be patient as this brand new company certainly has some growing pains.

I rely heavily on product reviews to make purchase decisions so here is my honest take:

Pros
-very well made. I am 190# and no matter how hard I push it CLMBR does not shake, rattle or move at all. I am very impressed with this Pro level equipment
-as far as I can tell CLMBR is mechanical not electrical meaning the only electricity it uses is for the video screen. It appears to work perfectly fine if not even plugged in. This is huge for me as I expect it to last 20 years
-when I first climbed on the machine I put it to highest resistance and was surprised that it was not too difficult- for about a minute. Then I realized there was no way I could sustain that and now I am usually on level 4. Your body weight provides plenty of resistance and I don’t see CLMBR ever becoming “too easy” for me. I was concerned about this prior to purchase as I am the guy at the gym using the treadmill on full incline
-I have done a couple of classes and as an Apple Fitness+ user I can say they are just as polished and professional as Apple’s. See below about the costs tho…

Cons
-the speaker system is not quite loud enough for me. CLMBR is not really quiet and on the loudest setting I can’t alway hear the music. Not a dealbreaker for me as I prefer my headphones
- my Apple Watch is my workout partner and if I cannot log my workouts on Watch did they really even happen??? No Apple integration as of yet which is my biggest complaint but hopefully they are working on it
-I am on a 6 month free trial for the classes but once it ends I don’t see me paying $40/month for them. I have to pay a gym membership (no one will use CLMBR as their only way to exercise) and along with Apple+, Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Disney/ESPN+, and pay walls for news sites CLMBR’S monthly fee is too high.

For me it really boils down to the workout o can get on the machine itself and like I stated before I have never found a machines hat gives me a harder workout than CLMBR with NO IMPACT on my 52 year old body. That is why no one will take my CLMBR while I am alive. Hope this helps you!

Defective machine - poor communication by CLMBR - great looking machine though

Unfortunately, I like many had delivery issue. I was an early buyer in 2020 when white glove delivery was only option and I paid for the fee; which I didn’t mind bc I could never have imagined putting it together. Well October I receive a text message to schedule my delivery date. I set up for following Friday when it arrives the delivery person informs his company does not set up the machines. I contacted CLMBR support who got back to me within a hour to say there was miscommunication aka they never explained how white glove delivery would work - apparently you set delivery date and then later would receive call from another company who sets up machine. Why the hell would that process work? The box the machine arrives in huge; and the email you receive “to prepare for delivery” says to have room for two people to put together machine. Luckily for me bc I am 8 months pregnant a neighbor and my husband were able to put machine together. But; then we had some issues with the machine bc it started to make loud noises when resistance was changed the paperwork that comes with machine says to review checklist with names of troubleshoot videos that do NOT even exist on their site. So yes I am sorely disappointed bc my machine appears to be defective and we have to wait for an outsourced technician to come to our home to check it out; when that will happen…who knows!

They are a new company so I can be understanding of all these delays but can’t help be disappointed I paid thousands of dollars for a machine that I have to again wait to use bc their machine was poorly constructed.

Customer service was responsive though. I will give them that and I am supposed to be refunded for the delivery fee.

Update: CLMBR sent me a defective product and are stringing us along. Don’t order from them. I am so upset with this company.

Dissatisfied and wanting answers

I hope that I can change this review from one star to five in the future, but right now I cannot do that. I can’t mark it with zero stars either.

My sister and I were two of the founding members purchasing our machines in the first week or two of January 2021. We have had little contact with CLMBR other than the vague responses that we would be contacted by a delivery partner (Ryder) to get our CLMBR deliveries scheduled. I had to read reviews here, on Facebook and Instagram to find out their delivery partners had changed.

This is a word of caution to anyone wanting to purchase a CLMBR machine with a delivery promise of ten weeks. CLMBR can’t even deliver to the people that ordered the machine many months ago! If you are financing your machine, seriously consider your options and other products. Take these reviews seriously! If you have the money to spare and you can wait, great. Your health is worth it and this machine has so much potential. But CLMBR has to be able to deliver and sustain itself for the future to make this investment worth every penny.

Now, CLMBR, where is my machine and my sister’s? I am no celebrity (Jayz, Pitbull) and neither is my sister, but we still invested money in you and deserve what we paid for. Don’t forget that the people that can market for you best are the regular people like us who are the backbone of your industry.

So glad I came here to discover a lot of clients have not received the product. CLMBR needs to learn how to communicate. Thought I would have the CLMBR by now but looks like no by the reviews I'm reading. This is a mess and I don't understand how a company does not keep clients updated. I paid upfront to get a product that I don't know when if ever I will receive. Miss me with new start up because at the very least a company should know how to communicate. This is just awful. No longer excited to receive CLMBR

Both great and horrible reviews are true

I was one of the first 30 orders in the world back in December 2020. Yes, all the delay complaints are true. They did keep pushing back their release date. And yes, the delivery was a mess. Having said that, I was lucky enough to have a messed up good delivery experience, as opposed to some other folks. My white glove delivery folks were actually white glove. My team had been delivering and assembling CLMBRs all over the area and had mine up and running within 15 minutes and took away all the packaging materials. But, I ended up getting calls for weeks from a separate company that was scrambling to assemble my machine. I kept telling them the delivery company took care of it, they noted it, and then they kept calling me. Lol. So I got too much love.

It's a brand new company funded on Indigogo that tried to launch during Covid. Was I super annoyed the product kept getting delayed? Yes. Is it understandable? I think it's fair to say yes as well.

As far as the product goes I'll give it a 4 right now. One annoying thing is that the machine is super limited in operation if you don't subscribe to the online service. It records less than what you would expect of each of your workouts and doesn't have separate profiles to track climbs by different people. I'm holding off so far on activating my free months because I want to get used to it before the clock starts on that. Lastly, I think the most annoying thing about it is that you have this massive screen in front of you and you can't connect your iPad or phone to it to watch videos or listen to your own music. It's only there for the subscription classes. That may be the most annoying thing about it all.

But the machine is so far largely solidly made. I only have a few design gripes. And the workout is a total ass kicker, figuratively and literally. I have a Concept2 rower and this workout is far more strenuous and I don't have to worry about bad form wrecking my back.

Okay update 2 months after purchasing. This is ridiculous and horrible. Changing my review from a 4 to a 1. I took a couple of months before activating the subscription. I’ve tried 5 times. 4 with customer support trying to give me instructions. Since I was an early buyer I got a promo with 6 months free with a promo code. Each time I try to enter the code and then credit card info the system doesn’t recognize. Customer service keeps giving me a new code and a different set of instructions on how to activate. Still no dice. It’s ridiculous. This is the most basic function of the software. And these people seemed to have decided to put the instruction class on how to use the machine behind the pay wall. So you can’t even access the orientation class. Given how horrible the software is I don’t dare try to pair my heart rate monitor or Bluetooth headphones for fear of glitching something else. And the software forces you to repair the app to the machine every time you log in and then you get stuck at the access code screen unable to get to the Home Screen. Bottom line, it appears a fitness equipment hardware company tried to write software. This code is utter trash. Stay away until and unless they actually hire UX designers and coders that are competent.

COMPANY IS IN OVER THERE HEADS

Wish I could give this company a zero star rating. Ordered my clmbr in December was told I would receive my clmbr in June?!?! I have just received my clmbr today Tuesday Sept 28th?!?! I was supposed to received a white glove delivery what I got was a huge box in my garage. Is this a joke? This company is a mess. I called them to ask why my machine was not assembled and what happened to the white glove service that i was told I would receive they said that they have been backlogged and had not gotten to me yet. This company is in way over there heads.

I bet the celebrity orders that did not get affected from "COVID" did not recieve this so call 5 star treatment?!?!?

After initial deliveries, we made the decision to separate delivery and assembly based on customer feedback. As a result, the white glove experience is two steps, delivery followed by an assembly appointment. We know this isn't perfect but our main goal is to get you up and climbing as quickly as possible and we're continuing to improve our delivery and assembly experience moving forward.
