I have seen how Rob, the founder of DateinaDash, responds to bad reviews, ie aggressively shoot people down for stating their opinion. But I want to share my experience with this dreadful company anyway, hoping to encourage at least some people to go with another option. I really wish I had.

My friend and I signed up for a speed dating event organised by DateinaDash at the end of January. It was the first time for both of us and we selected the age group 40-60, which felt broad enough and age appropriate (we’re in our late 40s). Not knowing what to expect we set off in good spirits, but in retrospect we should have paid attention to the early alarm bells. The location of the event was changed at the last minute, which was a bit annoying, but not a big deal. We turned up early and waited to be let downstairs where the event took place. The host, Nathan, greeted us and explained how it all worked. We took our seats and started ‘dating’. It seemed a bit chaotic, not everyone had score sheets or pens, my table number was changed at one point, and the guys moving around said it was really confusing. But it kind of worked and, again, no big deal. It wasn’t until about half way through the event that my friend was told by another attendee that we were in the wrong age group. This one was for 30-45 year olds, the 40-60 group was next door. That WAS a big deal. We told the host, who didn’t mention another group when we arrived, but he said it didn’t matter and we should continue. We finished up the dates, confused and somewhat disheartened, and at the end we asked Nathan again how this could happen. He just laughed and clearly couldn’t care less. We got the feeling he thought we were all a bunch of losers. There was nothing else we could do and at least we had met some nice people and one of them I would actually have liked to match with. Except I couldn’t, because guess what - since we were put in the wrong group, we didn’t feature on the website for the 30-45 year olds, nor could we see their profiles. In other words, we had no opportunity to match with anyone at all! That’s when we realised that we had completely wasted our time and money as the whole point of putting yourself through 20 dates is to hopefully match with at least one of them!

So the following day I get an automatic message asking me to select my matches from a list of 40-60 year olds I’d never met. I replied to Dateinadash via an online form (which I took screenshots of as I’d lost my confidence in the company at this point) and explained the situation. No reply. I tried to call the number on the website - it goes straight to a mailbox every time. I texted and emailed again and eventually I got a response from Rob, who claimed he never got my first message. I sent him the screenshots and he said he was going to speak to Nathan, the host, and get back to me shortly. He hasn’t. I have chased, asking for my money back, giving him the opportunity to respond but still nothing.

It blows my mind how appallingly run this so called business is. Do they actually think ignoring the issue will make it go away? We didn’t get what we paid for, through no fault of our own. In this situation it’s not unreasonable to ask for a refund. The Dateinadash website claims that “Rob works extremely hard to ensure every event is an enjoyable experience and genuinley cares about his customers.” My experience was a badly organised event, a condescending and sloppy host, and a founder who ignores his customers.

I’ve tried really hard to resolve this amicably. All I wanted was a refund, and for Dateinadash to handle my complaint professionally. Instead I’m having to waste my time writing bad reviews, which is something I never do. I just hope others looking for a fun night out speed dating reads this and picks another company. The guys at Dateinadash will take your money and ghost you quicker than any date ever could. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

UPDATE:
I’m done with arguing with you, Rob, I have made my views clear on email. Suffice to say I am NOT lying (why would I bother?) and I stand by every word in my review. It’s up to people reading it what they make of it.

DIAD do good events, both for speed dating, if you want a more one on one approach to meeting people, and the singles parties where you can focus on the ones you like rather then the ones you don’t. I find people generally friendly when you approach them, and sometimes you get approached, too.

We were all made very welcome by our excellent host who explained how the evening would run, then the fun began...
15 4min Speed Dates later with bar and comfort breaks as and when, we had chatted and laughed with a wide range of eligible singles.
Gave feedback electronically, and next day noon 'Match' and 'Friend' notifications came through...
I really recommend giving it a go - up lifting after Impersonal Dating App frustrations.

The hosts were friendly and talking to people was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

I had decided to try speed dating after being fed up of online dating and I've been pleasantly surprised. Date in a Dash is a great company with lots of events on regularly in various locations.

The hosts are always lovely and welcoming and they look after the ladies and keep the guys separate until the event starts. I have been to lots of their events and have always enjoyed them. It's good to meet people in person and it's a nice evening out even if you don't make a romantic connection. I've made a few friends at the events too.

Events do get cancelled unfortunately if not enough people sign up but you get notified in advance and are given the option to pick another date if this happens. I'll keep going until I find a nice guy. Keep hope alive!

I was initially not very convinced to try out speed-dating. I was more than positively suprised. Great people, great location, very well organised. A real fun night out. Can highly recommend.

Nice speed dating event. As usual with these events you never know how many people will attend. About 12 girls and 20 guys.
Have not given 5 stars as event started late, no apology from the host, very disorganised event.
People at the event were polite and friendly, overall a fun experience and would probably do something similar again

Post dateinadash reply, there were minimum 6 guys waiting as there were fewer girls at the event. The host was late, event should have started at 7, host turned up just before 7 so we started late.

This should be called date in a slapdash!
After months of thinking about going for the first time I finally made the plunge.
I bought a ticket based on the fact women were sold out, despite this there were more men than women. If you also factor in there were ‘friends’ brought along. I mean why the fcku sell multiple tickets, the word greed springs to mind!
So factoring this in your against the odds before you start, say 20/14.
2 of the women were drunk and one of them was even abusive towards myself. Despite reporting it to the organiser, he didn’t care.
I’m not saying I’m an oil painting or anything but maybe I was unlucky as most were unattractive (which is not the be and end all) or had no personality, or both. To summarise an event for desperate women.
If you want further proof, why is it most guys hung about at the end for a few drinks and all the women couldn’t get out the door fast enough.
The event had loud music playing forcing you to shout at each other, by the sixth person I had a soar throat. There wasn’t even a break to grab a drink or use the toilet and I was bursting. This is a kind review I could go into a lot more detail but I think you get the point. Better than online dating? Marginally…….
On the plus side good for meeting some nice guys!

I can reccomend the speed dating events from Dating in a Dash. They're well organised, are at an ideal location, have a good mix of ages & personalities & most importantly, are far better than a dating app or site. Meeting a selection of different, interesting & bubbly ladies face to face is far better as you get an instant idea of a connection or spark. Give it a go, it's a fun night out.

I wasn't sure about going to an event hosted by DateinaDash. However, I'm really glad I did. Rob handled the event very well. No matter which seat you start on, Rob ensures everyone gets their turn to chat with everyone! Additionally, he provides a card and pencil so you can tick whom you may want to pursue further. Then you can go on his website and tick people that may have also matched with you. You can also message your match via his website. Which is really good, as you can connect with someone before giving out your phone number.

Well organised event and good fun in a relaxed environment

I have attended a couple of their events. They are well organised, high quality and balanced which I appreciate. The host Tom is also a really nice guy. I have only ever done speed dating with this company

It was the first time I attended a speed dating.
I was a little nervous but I was surprised by the organization, flexibility and above all the support for the people we attended.
I loved meeting new people at the event.

Rob is an industrious individual who diligently endeavors to cater to the needs of all patrons. It is noteworthy that he exhibits a sense of disquietude should their satisfaction be compromised or if adverse feedback is tendered.

I’m not a fan of the apps, came across this event and very glad I gave it a go. Nice format, well-organised and good people at each event I’ve attended. Great they’ve now added a small form for you to keep track of who you want to follow-up with, as you can very easily forget who’s who! Would defo recommend.

I really enjoyed the event! I twas very well organised and the hosts very welcoming. They explained everything upon arrival and made you feel welcome. The dates were fun and one could have many great and friendly chats. The age group matched as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a partner, date or just a fun night out. Also, DateinaDash are very responsive in case you have any questions etc.

I attended to a speed dating last Friday the 14, it was fun and I had the opportunity to speak with different guys, it was something different.
Rob the hostess is really relax and definitely helps to break the ice so makes easy start the conversation with all the people that we were there.

Went to a Bingo Event and found the format to be a really enjoyable one (even just for the bingo!) The combination of random event helped to instantly diffuse any potential awkwardness that might come along with the traditional speed dating format, and also just made it much more fun generally. Some nice, if random (hence the bonkers name!), prizes too! (e.g. a banana; a model car etc!) Affable fellow attendees who all seemed to also enjoy the novel format.
