Fee Changes Make It Harder to Recommend

I’ve used DeJapan over the years and have generally been very satisfied with their service, especially their low fees.

However, with the recent fee changes for flea market purchases, the cost has increased noticeably. The new structure - at least 500 yen per item (300 yen service fee + 200 yen handling fee), plus an additional transaction fee, brings the total to around 700-800 yen per item.

At this point, it’s becoming harder to justify using DeJapan, as it is now more expensive compared to other well-known proxy services that cap fees at around 500 yen per item, without additional transaction fees, and often offer more flexible shipping options and frequent coupon promotions.

Because of this, I’m starting to explore alternative services.

Edit April 28 2026:
I've reconsidered DeJapan but decided against using it again.

The company has increased their fee again for flea market purchases from 200 to 500 yen. On top of the already existing 300 yen service fee, and additional transaction fee. In almost all cases, a flea market purchase would cost an extra 1000 yen on just fees alone.

This further increases the overall cost per item and reinforces my previous impression that DeJapan is no longer competitively priced compared to other proxy services, especially given the lack of consistent coupon promotions.

Horrible service with nothing automated

I wanted to bid on a high end collectible that I really wanted via this service. Since it was an auction, I had to bid extremely high to make sure other buyers would not bid at the last minute and extend the auction by 5 minutes. Why? Because it's not automated and their service is practically useless outside of Japanese business hours. So I wouldn't be able to counter bid. Mind you, Mercari auctions usually end outside that time period.

After winning the auction, my friend who has a Mercari account messaged the seller to see if he had other high end collectibles. This is pretty normal. Luckily, the seller had several other great collectibles. The seller then listed them for me to purchase but since DeJapan takes over an hour to place purchase requests, someone else bought it. Luckily the seller canceled that order to honor our agreement. So my friend then asked the seller to create a listing specifically for DeJapan so that I can purchase it via DeJapan without someone stealing it. The seller does just that. Well, DeJapan then cancels my account because they said I violated their Term of Service because I reached out to a seller. That is not allowed. They treated me as if I was trying to circumvent their service which I clearly was not. The listing was specifically made for DeJapan on my request! I am bringing more business to DeJapan. This is the type of people you will be dealing with. They have zero business sense. Since then, I have given a lot of business to 2 of their rivals. Also, when making an offer to a Buyer, instead of just submitting the offer like a normal person, they have to discuss everything in the public comment section, so that hopefully the sellers agrees to change the price. By this time, someone else takes it since they see there is real interest in the item.

Summary
-No way of counter bidding
-Purchase requests take over an hour. So any good deals will be gone by then.
-God forbid you try to bring them more business by asking the seller to sell you more via DeJapan.
-Making offers is publicly disclosed and takes hours and, in my case, days since it was the weekend.
-On weekends and nights, it's as if this service is useless.

We cannot expedite orders of specific customers for any reason.

When you messaged a seller directly the first time, we let you know that this was a violation of our Terms and Conditions.

Contacting sellers directly negatively impacts our ability to do business with them in a number of ways:
・It confuses the seller; we’ve had communication issues in the past because of this.
・Depending on the site, we don’t always use the name “DEJAPAN” to place the order.
In order to streamline the communication, we kindly ask all our customers to not contact sellers directly.

Despite our previous warnings, you directly contacted a seller again, which was why we have suspended your account.
If you had questions about an item or an order, we would have contacted the seller on your behalf.

We understand this process can take time; proxies by their nature require more time to complete transactions compared to direct purchasing.
However, this is our company's policy, and we require all our customers to follow our Terms & Conditions when using our service.

I have been using DeJapan for years.

I have been using DeJapan for years. I've used other proxy sites before but wasn't fully satisfied until I found DeJapan. Their fees are clear and fair, they have great communication, quick to order the items I'm looking to purchase and quick to reach out with any issues. My items have always arrived quick with great packaging. There is not a single complaint I have.
I haven't used them for any auctions so I can't say what it's like but I've purchases from various Japanese sites with no issues. Overall, I highly recommend them and have personally recommend them to my friends over the years as well.

Servizio pessimo e pure ridicolo

Servizio pessimo e pure ridicolo al limite dell'indecente,
mi sono affidato a questo servizio proxy per alcuni
acquisti dal Giappone, prevalentemente merci da
Mercari e Aste Yahoo, il problema con questo servizio
proxy è che non controllano le merci quando gli
arrivano presso la loro sede, neanche approno il pacco,
lo spediacono così com'è, se va bene ok oppure amen
e ti liquidano senza troppi problemi, acquisti merce
nuova ma poi invece ti arriva usata? Nessun problema,
tu hai speso i soldi e loro se ne fregano del resto,
nessuna attenzione per il cliente, a loro non gli interessa, deveno spedire e poi chi si è visto si è visto,
tu puoi protestare ma a loro non gli interessa nulla.
State molto lontani da questi, in caso di problemi
loro se ne laveranno le mani e non vi daranno assistenza.

Qui aggiungono una risposta che mi ha fatto ridere, si aggrappano agli specchi e cercano di modificare il contenuto a loro puro scopo di interesse di quanto invece mi avevano recentemente scritto tramite email, ad esempio che loro non verificano il contenuto di quanto acquistato e lo spediscono così com'è.

However, as we are not professionals, there may be details which are overlooked and we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

If an item arrives not as described, we encourage our customer to reach out so we can determine where the issue lies. However, in cases where the item was shipped via Surface, it is difficult to return items to the seller or store due to the limited time frame for returns—especially if the item was not damaged and no photos are provided.

Great service!

The website is easy to navigate and see the latest listings. The proxy service instructions were clear of when my items would arrive to the warehouse and when it would ship. This service also makes it easy to buy items in bulk! I will definitely be using this service again!

Reliable as always

Reliable as always, this is I believe my third or fourth order with Dejapan. Shipping with EMS takes a bit longer than stated to Canada these days (for me it was 3 weeks), but that's not on Dejapan (who sent out my order quickly), but on Japan Post. Well packed even in the default option.

Good but limited

Pros: Reasonably quick order time and customer support response. Good packing. Competitive service rate and shipping rate using post.

Cons: Can't separate orders from the same shop that were bought at the same time. Can't open items for inspection with the picture service. Does not allow cancellation of sniper bids. Much more expensive rate with courier option (DHL) than with competing services. Website UI is quite obsolete.

I wish you could order 24/7 for limited items that release during nighttime JST.

Regarding the photo service, we are able to open and take photos of various items for a fee if requested by the customer.
The customer can then use the photos to determine on their own whether the item meets their standard.

We also provide a general inspection of items when they arrive at our Warehouse (to check for damage or any major differences between the received item and the item listings).
However, we are unable to perform a detailed inspection of the item on our side, as many items require more specialized knowledge.

Once again, we really appreciate your feedback, and we'll keep these points in mind as we continue to work towards improving our service for our customers.

Works great

Works great. Used it to apply a BOOST to a "BOOTH.pm" item. I was able to also cancel out a 300 yen service fee thanks to a coupon. Transactions fees did add up to 227 yen though, which isn't a big problem. I made the request on Dec 22nd, and they made the order the day after. Since this was a pre-order item, the sellers only shipped it around Jan 5th. It arrived at their warehouse on the 14th, I made the overseas shipping payment on the 17th, and it finally arrived today on the 30th. Even with standard packaging, items were in mint condition. I wish the shipping was cheaper though. They don't have the cheaper "ePacket Light" option, so I had to opt for EMS. That's really my only issue with this proxy service. Their customer support is also quick and helpful.

Look for a shopping agent elsewhere.

They only have two shipping options to the US, and both are equally expensive. I shipped a small package that had cheaply made items and I paid more in shipping and taxes than I did for the items. What a joke.

In response to the recent tariffs, JapanPost has suspended all shipments to the United States. Because of this, only UPS and DHL options are available.

We are currently allowing our American customers to hold their items and parcels at our Warehouse with no storage fees, so customers can choose to ship their items when more affordable shipping options become available again.

Intuitive interface, fast processing

Intuitive interface, good communication. Once all my items arrived at the warehouse, they were packed and shipped in a couple days. The one thing is you don’t have access to shipping information to the warehouse, so when one item was taking longer to arrive, it was hard to decide whether to ship what I had or wait longer for the last item.

Best proxy out there

Of all the proxy services I’ve used, Dejapan is my favorite. The website is easy to use and convenient. Never had any issues, and they pack everything with care! I will continue to use them for all my future imports.

Great service that is affordable and easy to use. The website is nice and makes it very easy to tell how far along the process you are. My items shipped relatively quickly and was packed extremely well.
