One thing I've always believed is that if you're going to treat yourself, it should be with something that's made with proper ingredients and tastes great. Hearing that you think it's worth paying a little extra for the quality is a huge compliment.

I'v always been a bit of a chocoholic…
I'v always been a bit of a chocoholic and found the nutritional information listed on the back of most bars these days a real turn off. I decided to give DGF a try and I'm so glad I did! These bars are awesome once your taste buds reset and give you the full flavour of the cocoa. I particularly enjoy the milk chocolate bar and the orange is always a favourite. My experience with DGF chocolate and service has been nothing short of excellent 10/10.

I think you've summed up the journey really well. When you're used to very sweet chocolate, it can take a little while for your taste buds to adjust... then suddenly you start tasting the cocoa rather than just the sugar.

Lovely tasting chocolate
Lovely tasting chocolate and doesn’t spike my blood sugar. Nice to see a diabetic / diet friendly product without all the nasty things and fillers. Particularly love the orange and dark flavours. Purchased the pack of 4, 2 milk Choc and 2 Orange Choc. Tried the milk Choc and for my pallet I found it far to bitter and not milky at all.Contacted Deliciously guiltfree, who responded back almost immediately offered a full refund and even supplied a return lable, Great customer service and fantastic communication.

Oh my word! Cover me in chocolate and call me Mr T!
I’ve resisted until writing this review but I can’t hold back any longer. This chocolate is insane, as a proper choc lover it’s always a battle trying to resist from being a proper fatty and normal chocolate these days just isn’t the same, it just doesn’t hit the spot and tastes rubbish. After seeing Facebook ad pop up I thought I’d give it a go, it was one of those random transactions while bored by the way, The DGG marketing engine is very clever I have to say…So, after ordering loads of choc orange, a few milk and a dark I decided there and then that was it!! When they had gone I suffered from withdrawal symptoms and needed more, I’m a sucker for the vault but I still can’t catch the choc orange crunch, I nearly was only give a 4 star rating just because of that but it would be unfair. Im on my 4th order now and there’s still no sign of getting fed up of the taste, I’m almost certain there could be an addictive ingredient added 🤔, who cares, just give me more!! In a nutshell, this is proper chocolate but without the nasties added, everything else is just pants! Well done DGF people, your smashing it 💪

I was laughing all the way through... especially "cover me in chocolate and call me Mr T!" I can safely say that's a first!
I'm also very pleased to hear that our evil marketing plan of showing you a Facebook advert while you were bored worked so well... completely by accident of course! 😇
Four orders in and still no sign of getting bored is a huge compliment. The Orange Crunch has developed a habit of disappearing rather quickly, so I promise you're not the only one trying to catch it before it sells out!
And no... there's definitely no secret addictive ingredient. Just proper cocoa butter, quality ingredients and me spending far too many hours trying to make low carb, no added sugar chocolate that tastes like the real thing.

I'm a big believer in small businesses…
I'm a big believer in small businesses that want to take on the giant corporations and offer a high quality product instead, even if it's significantly more expensive. I support a number of them. What I didn't like was that, after expressing some interest, I was literally bombarded with adverts and emails which became intensely and increasingly irritating. I hesitated because it's eyewateringly expensive, but eventually bought the 4 bar bundle. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely didn't expect it to taste like the mass produced stuff, of course not, but equally I did have an expectation that it would taste like chocolate, probably a lot less sweet. Now, I'm sure this is a high quality product that contains great ingredients, but for me me it's just too far away from what I know as chocolate that I didn't like it at all, none of my family did either. Mostly it's because there's no sweetness at all, despite claims to the contrary. I'm sure lots of people will be fine with it or adjust their taste accordingly, just not for us. The email and advert spamming has continued to put me off post purchase and is the main reason for 2 stars. I wish you luck and genuinely hope your business does well, we shall continue to look for other alternatives.

I smiled when you said you like supporting small businesses taking on the giants because, if I'm honest, that's exactly what we're trying to do.
I'm genuinely sorry that our emails and adverts became frustrating. I know I can get a little over enthusiastic when it comes to talking about chocolate! We are always trying to find the right balance, so thank you for the honest feedback.
As for the chocolate itself, I completely respect your opinion. We don't try to recreate the taste of mass produced chocolate. Instead, we make low carb, no added sugar chocolate using proper cacao, cocoa butter and no palm oil. For some people it's love at first bite. For others, especially if they're used to very sweet chocolate, it can be quite different.
It's a shame we weren't the right fit for you or your family, but I do genuinely appreciate that you gave us a chance and wish you all the very best in finding an alternative that suits your taste.

I can't comment on the chocolate…
I can't comment on the chocolate because it hasn't arrived! Received an email saying that delivery was delayed last week due to hot weather but bizarrely, Royal Mail actually delivered other perishable products with no problem at all? Today I received an email asking how was my chocolate? I don't know because you haven't sent it. I've emailed twice requesting a full refund and tried calling you on the contact number which is then diverted to a mobile number to leave a message? Pretty poor is mild but I'll leave it at that. I just want my money back for a product that has yet to be sent.

Firstly, I'm really sorry for the frustration this has caused. I completely understand why you'd be disappointed, especially when you've been asked to review chocolate that hadn't yet arrived.
During last week's record June heatwave, we made the decision to delay sending our chocolate because we genuinely believed it would arrive as soup rather than chocolate. It wasn't a decision we took lightly, but I'd much rather apologise for a delay than for a melted box of chocolate.
We did email all affected customers to offer the choice of having their order sent anyway if they were happy to take the risk. If you didn't receive that email, or if we somehow missed your reply, then I sincerely apologise.
The good news is that as soon as temperatures dropped today, all delayed orders were sent by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
As for your refund request, if you still want one, of course we'll honour it. Please email me directly at hello@deliciouslyguiltfree.com and I'll make sure it's sorted personally.
Again, I'm sorry this has been your first experience of us. I hope you'll understand that the delay came from trying to protect the quality of the chocolate rather than inconvenience you.

If you want to have a true chocolate experience then look no further, I highly recommend the 4 chocolate bar box, as you get a selection of different bar as well as a £10 gift card off you next purchase, so if you’re looking for a chocolate bar that uses real cocoa and cocoa butter, they look no further.

Using proper cocoa, real cocoa butter and no palm oil has always been important to me. I could make chocolate more cheaply... but I don't think I'd be as proud of it.

Chocolate without the usual consequences
Takes about a week to get it because they make it to order. Tastes a bit bitter to start with while you ween yourself off the sugar that other companies drown your chocolate in but after a few bars you appreciate the finer quality chocolate that DGF supply.
The fact there’s no added sugar is great to help prevent diabetes.

You've actually described something I hear quite often. When people first move away from very sweet chocolate, it can take a little while for their taste buds to adjust. Then suddenly they start noticing the cacao, the flavour and all the things that get hidden when chocolate is loaded with sugar.

Back in 2015, when my wife was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, I started making chocolate because I wanted there to be a genuinely delicious option for people trying to reduce their sugar intake. So hearing that it's become a lovely treat for someone living with type 2 diabetes means a lot.

Just a huge disappointment.
When I first saw the reels on social media for this I was dubious but after seeing the response online and the reviews I thought I would give them a go. It is certainly looked expensive for what is was but if its less sugar and tastes nice, then it would be worth it.
Alas, I've been massively disappointed. I'm sorry but the chocolate tastes really bad. The aftertaste is awful and the texture is dry. It's such a shame as it smells amazing.
After then rechecking their social media adverts I found some dishonesty in there. They show modern big name chocolate as like rubber, this is just misinformation, they are just showing you chocolate after it has been melted slightly, but we arent meant to know that. They also stated that some large chocolate brands have been investing in lab grown cacao, this is true but what they didn't tell you is that none of those companies are currently using that lab grown chocolate in their products. This is misleading at the moment.
They also state that my delivery would be with me in a couple of working days, it took just under 2 weeks to arrive.
I get that they are a small business and I REALLY wanted to like them but it's been a massive let down.
By all means if you have 10 quid to blow on a single (small) chocolate bar then give it a try, loads of other people seem to like it. Seems like I'm in the minority, IF you believe the reviews.
Edit: after reading the reply I would like to say thank you for being gracious and understanding. I hope many people love your product and you succeed in your goals, I want small businesses to increase in this country.
I would say that maybe place a disclaimer on some of your reels just to cover yourself as you're not covering some important info.
I've increased my rating by a star simply due to your fast and gracious reply. I hope you have a load of success. I'm just sorry it wasn't for me.
Edit 2: Thank you for the offer of the refund, that is very much appreciated. However, I still like to support small businesses and even though the product wasnt for me, thats my taste buds issue, not yours. Thank you again but I'll decline the refund. Added another star just because of your offer.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the chocolate. Taste is subjective, and while many customers love what we make, it's perfectly fair that it wasn't to your liking. If you didn't enjoy the flavour, texture, or aftertaste, then I respect your opinion.
There are a couple of points I'd like to clarify for anyone reading.
Regarding the videos showing chocolate melting, I have never claimed that a standard bar of supermarket chocolate will behave that way at room temperature. In those videos, I explicitly melt both our chocolate and supermarket chocolate to demonstrate the difference in how they behave when heated. The purpose is to show differences in ingredients and manufacturing, not to suggest that supermarket chocolate naturally turns to rubber while sitting on a shelf.
Similarly, when discussing lab-grown cacao, I've spoken about investment and development within the industry. You're quite right that major chocolate manufacturers are not currently using lab-grown cacao in their products. The point I was making was about where parts of the industry may be heading in the future, not what is currently on supermarket shelves today.
On delivery times, our website states a turnaround time of 3–5 working days, with delivery itself usually taking around 2 working days once dispatched. If your order genuinely took close to two weeks to arrive, then that's something I'd be happy to investigate, as it would be very unusual.
You also mentioned price, and I completely understand that our chocolate isn't the cheapest option.
Unfortunately, handmade chocolate made with high-quality ingredients and without sugar is significantly more expensive to produce than mass-manufactured alternatives.
That won't make sense for everyone, and that's absolutely fine. As you started and ended with this point I suspect it would have been difficult to have won your heart over lol

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A chocolate brand that genuinely cares and you can taste it.
I've tried plenty of "guilt-free" chocolate over the years, and most of it tastes exactly like what it is, a compromise. Deliciously Guilt Free is different.
What sets DGF apart isn't just the chocolate itself (though it's genuinely delicious), but the passion behind it. Dan clearly obsesses over what goes into his products. The ingredients are thoughtfully chosen, the health credentials are real, and nothing about it feels like a cynical health-food afterthought. This is proper chocolate made by someone who actually cares.
There's something you notice when you buy from a small, passionate maker versus a big brand: you can feel the difference in every detail, from the care in the packaging to the quality of the bar. The big names are chasing margins. Dan is chasing something better.
I'm a returning customer, and I'll keep coming back. When you find something this good that's also better for you, you don't let it go.
If you're on the fence, just order. You won't regret it.

Reading reviews like this means a lot because this is exactly what I set out to create.
Back in 2015, my wife was diagnosed with gestational diabetes while pregnant with our daughter. Like many people, she suddenly found that the foods she enjoyed were off the menu. I spent hours in the kitchen trying to create something that tasted like proper chocolate without the sugar spike. A lot of those early attempts were terrible, but eventually I got there.
So when you say it doesn't feel like a compromise, that's probably the biggest compliment you could give me.
You're also absolutely right that every detail matters. We are a small business, which means I still spend a lot of time thinking about ingredients, recipes, packaging and customer feedback. Sometimes I think about chocolate more than is entirely normal!

some of the best chocolate i have ever tasted the flavour reminds me of how chocolate used to taste before big companies wanted big profits and made cheaper chocolate but this this is the real chocolate we have all been missing. thank you dan for all your hard work and wonderful chocolate and to new memeories
