I've been using DMXdesktop for about a year now. Before finding it, I was honestly on the verge of giving up on DMX lighting altogether. I'd tried other software, but between the setup, the learning curve, and the amount of time and effort needed just to get things working the way I wanted, it started feeling more like a chore than something I enjoyed.

Then I came across DMXdesktop. I started with the free version to see if it was any different, and it didn't take long before I upgraded to the paid version. Since then, I've never looked back.

The software is reliable, intuitive, and simply works. What used to be a frustrating process became something I actually enjoyed using. The standout feature for me is DJ Mode, which has been an absolute game changer. It allows me to focus on the music and the crowd instead of constantly worrying about the lighting, while still delivering a professional-looking light show.

What really sets DMXdesktop apart, though, is the people behind it. Every interaction I've had with the support team has been personal, friendly, and genuinely helpful. You're not treated like a ticket number. They take the time to listen, understand the issue, and help you find a solution. It's clear they care about both their product and their customers.

In a time when good customer service is becoming increasingly rare, DMXdesktop stands out for all the right reasons. Great software, a game-changing DJ Mode, and a support team that genuinely cares. I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a DMX solution. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Received the software and was impressed by the functionality. It accomplished everything I needed, and more that I didn’t even know I needed. Got an update to the software a week or so later with the new Live Wire function. Total game changer that sent my “great” categorization of the product to “unbelievable”. Their algorithms to “read” the mood of the music is by far the best I have ever seen. And to top it off, I’ve hit their support up a couple of times and received thorough and quick responses. One response included a quick video of how to set the software up for something I needed to accomplish, which was recorded just for me! So to top it all off, customer support is better than I have seen for any product. I can’t think of any product I have purchased that is quite as good as the slick PR material that advertises it. DMX Desktop is the first to over-deliver in that regard.

Where to start ..... I have another system that runs my lighting rig, letting the music control it. It all off a sudden broke. 22 minutes before a show on a Friday night. No help to get. Installed DMXDesktop and with a little (hele no - a lot!!! and quick!!) of help from support, my existing rig was imported to DMXDesktop, and up and running again.
It took three weeks to have my old unit exchanged, and in that time all my staff said they didn't want to use the old one again as DMXDesktop is so much easier for unexperienced to use in a small venue that does not have at lighting tech at every event.
We haven't used the old system since and I'm pretty sure we wont be looking back.....

I've been using DMXDesktop to build a fairly ambitious live setup for my solo performances, running backing tracks alongside fully synchronised DMX lighting. I'm certainly not a professional lighting engineer, so there has been quite a learning curve as I've worked through fixture profiles, timelines, pixel effects, lasers and how I want everything to operate during an actual gig.
The software itself is incredibly powerful and is very close to being a perfect solution for what I'm trying to achieve. DJ mode in particular has allowed me to programme lighting specifically to individual songs rather than relying on generic sound-to-light effects, and I'm now exploring Busker mode and its synchronised lyrics as part of the live show setup.

What has really impressed me, though, is the support form the team behind DMXDesktop.

Whenever I've encountered a problem or something I haven't understood, they have responded quickly and actually engaged with what I am trying to accomplish rather than simply sending generic troubleshooting instructions, They've looked at specific issues, explained limitations honestly, suggested alternative workflows, taken diagnostics from my setup to investigate problems, and even logged some of my suggestions as possible future improvements.

That level of communication makes an enormous difference when you're investing a lot of time building a show around a piece of software.

There are still features I'd love to see developed- particularly bringing more of the detailed control available in Performance mode in the the DJ Mode.- but the team have been completely open about what is and isn't possible.

DMXDesktop is already an impressive application, but the quality and responsiveness of the support behind it is what really makes me confident about continuing to build my live show around it.

Very highly recommended- especially for musicians wanting to take proper synchronised lighting out on the road with our needing a dedicated lighting operator.

I’ve been a user of this software since November last year, I see an advert for it on Facebook and thought it just another useless app as I’ve been trying to learn DMX for a long time now with little success, however since I decided to take a punt on this software all that has changed, I’m only a home user but since purchasing this software I have completely changed my front room
Into a mini club, I have purchased more lasers and strobes and the DmX desktop team have been extremely helpful to get the profiles setup and diagnosing any issues I have come across. However what has surprised me the most is not just the helpful service but the way this software keeps getting better and better over the months, new patches with new features that my home setup now looks better than most London clubs and I should know as I still go day raving on Saturday and I’m on the dance floor showing other ravers my setup at home, which they are completely shocked how good it actually looks after watching, seriously if you on the fence and have a few lights fixtures not being used as can’t work out the setup of a DMX controller then give this software a try. I’m so glad I took a punt on this, not only have I got an awesome home club now, but I have also loss quite a bit of weight from dancing at home each night instead on being sat on the sofa being a couch potato , 5 stars, it really is worth every penny.

I'm a bass player in a band, and do all the backing tracks, lyrics, videos, AND DXM lights for the band. Really more an audio focused guy than lightning one. So i have a DAW/sequencer, plus during gigs i am actively playing my bass. No spare time to check things real time.

DMXDesktop changed my world completely. DJ mode is fantastic! configure your stage, patch your fixtures, group them, assign roles. Feed it a track and it will build you an AI generated show wich you can personalize in energy, color theme, insert manual cue points and special effects in, or if you wish, you can effectively program the entire song in a timeline!

then ... V1.0.52 THE MAGIC CAME .... Live Wire!!! full rig AI driven, with meaningful transistions, energy changes, per group focus and effects ... ALL REALTIME simply listening to a LIVE AUDIO feed....

I mostly stopped pre-programming every song i play with the band. I can now use my own light alone, or integrate them with venues fixtures given i have access to the patch list, simply build a new stage, then attach DMXD to the venue rig and drive it!

Assistance, developers responsivity and willingness to accomodate your requests are INCREDIBLE. Overall, try it and it will become your only DMX softare.

Firstly, like the other review, I don’t get paid nor do I get any kickbacks. I have never given any product or device a review, however, this app is worth every bit of attention it gets.

Any product is only as good as its backup support, and this one is second to none. The DMXDT team are not just there to sell a product; they genuinely care that you get the best from the App and, more importantly, that all is operational for your requirements.

As part of a musical duo, I tried several DMX lighting options before this. None met my needs, and the alternative support options were terrible or non-existent. I struggled initially trying to get my head around the DMX, but the team was incredibly helpful. Thanks to their guidance, I now confidently use the app's standout features:

First things first, I’m a real human. I haven’t been paid by DMXDesktop, I don’t work for them, and nobody has slipped me a brown envelope full of DMX cables.

I’m a DJ, not a lighting engineer. I bought the software because it had one killer feature I couldn’t find elsewhere: DJ Mode.

DJ Mode analyses each track individually and creates lighting that’s unique to that piece of music, in proper sync with what’s actually happening. So instead of the usual “lights flashing vaguely near the beat and hoping nobody notices”, the lighting feels like part of the track. When it all locks together, it’s pretty addictive.

That feature alone was enough to get me through the door.

Since then, I’ve been genuinely blown away.

The software itself is excellent. It has completely changed what I can do with lighting at Funky Booth DJ events and, more importantly, the experience I can create for my customers. It’s powerful without making you feel like you need a degree in lighting engineering just to get something impressive happening. For me, it has been worth every penny.

But strangely, the software isn’t actually the most impressive bit.

The support is superb. Proper, helpful support from people who clearly care whether you get the thing working, rather than just firing you a link to an FAQ and quietly disappearing.

And the biggest difference is that they actually listen to their users.

I’ve suggested things, discussed ideas and watched features people genuinely want make their way into the software. That sounds obvious, but after years of using software where customer feedback seems to disappear into a large corporate cupboard marked “Suggestions We’ll Never Look At”, it’s incredibly refreshing.

I’m struggling to think of another software company I’ve dealt with that combines a genuinely great product, excellent support and such a strong willingness to keep improving it around the people who actually use it.

So yes, five stars. And unusually for a five-star review, I really can’t think of a “but”.

If you’re a DJ looking seriously at controlling your own lighting, put DMXDesktop very high on your list. And, although I’m coming at it purely from a DJ’s point of view, I suspect the same applies to pretty much anyone who needs powerful, flexible lighting control that does the hard work in the background, leaving you more time for the creative, fun stuff. In my case, that’s choosing the music, creating the atmosphere and getting people smiling.

I have written maybe three reviews in my life, so when I say I am emphatic about my DMXDesktop and support experience, I am serious.

Purchasing any product is only part of the equation, especially when something is as complex as lighting software. Product support, and knowledge base is a huge part of the other side.
All aspects of the DMXDesktop purchasing and support experience have been surprisingly excellent.
DMXDesktop support personal spend as much time as needed, in a very timely and human way, to make sure my issues have been completely resolved. The pricing for DMXDesktop is very fair. Either a low monthly subscription, or, you can purchase a full license out right. They seem to have a genuine desire to be fair and honest.

Before purchasing DMXDesktop I spent months researching lighting solutions for a non-lighting experienced person such as myself. Every solution I found, was either too expensive, too complex for my purposes and experience level, or, just felt like a scam rip off. I was looking for a solution that I could scale up with time, and also allowed me to automate most aspects of the show.

DMXDesktop software is intuitive to use. There are several major engines that can enable the software intelligence to decide how to run your light show, yet you can also drill down and manually control granular aspects of every fixture, if you wish.
The software itself is riddled with tool tips explaining functions and buttons. Help is everywhere in the software. Unknown light fixture not in their database? Submit a ticket and the fixture is added within hours, sometimes sooner. Have a question, submit a ticket and sometimes it is answered within minutes. My longest wait time has been a few hours.
It seems to me that DMXDesktop is excellent for not only beginners such as my self, but would also be useful for experienced professionals.

DMXDesktop has been releasing updates I would say about every two months or less, adding major features that truly expand the functionality of the software, in addition to expected fixes. They have been very responsive to my input regarding suggested features and fixing bugs. I feel like most companies do the absolute bare minimum they can get away with regarding updates, and product support, before users out right revolt. This is not the case here.

My experience with DMXDesktop has been a refreshing experience that I have had with very few business entities. Every single interaction I have had with them has been positive. They truly seem enthusiastic about their product. In this world where scams and rip off products with no support or the bare minimum negative grudging experience is the norm, DMXDesktop stands out as a beacon to what a company should be.

I’ve been using DMXDesktop for several years now. I originally downloaded it looking for an easier way to run my lighting shows, and it has come a long way since I first started using it.

One of the biggest reasons I gave it 5 stars is the support behind it. Anytime I’ve found an issue or had a question, the developer has been very responsive and willing to listen. I’ve also suggested ideas and improvements over the years, and it’s been great seeing some of those ideas make their way into the software.

DMXDesktop has made running my lights much easier and gives me a lot of control without having to spend the entire show focused on lighting. It’s obvious that a lot of time and work has gone into improving it over the years.

After using it for as long as I have, I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good way to run DMX lighting for DJing and live bands.

I recently did a wedding with full light shows, music videos and audio rig. I used DMX Desktop for all 3. DJ Mode for music and music videos, and control of lighting, both autonomous and pre programmed light shows. It worked flawless. I'm very impressed with the immediate and extensive support I received from DMX Desktops support team while preparing for the event. Fantastic application and support that goes above and beyond.
