I originally rang Energy Australia, identified myself and after confirming my needs was told that the operator could send me a link to complete the transfer to a new plan myself.
This I agreed to, however I could have done the whole transaction myself without spending 10 minutes on the phone. Not sure why the letter sent to me telling me my discount was about to expire said I could call Energy Australia to choose a new plan.
Having said this the operator was most helpful and I’m happy to stay with Energy Australia

Had to go to Energy Ombudsmen to get any resolution to a billing issue that went on for 6 months. The worst Energy company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Run don’t walk to any other provider

Trick Energy Australia wants more money from customer
If I could, I would give negative review! I have been a customer of them for more than 10 years, they cancelled my plan, and offers me more expensive one with less discount. I talked to them, they refused to give me similar discount. If the company wants more money from customer, they could ask, but not using this way. The fact, their rate is more expensive than other companies.
Treacherous and Greedy - Some Helpful Advice
Well, It is my 100% Pleasure to Review this Dodgy Company after all the Times they Have SWITCHED PLANS On Me and Charged Me HEAPS MORE. And Confirm Points that other Negative Reviews have stated!
It's true that with most Energy Companies these days, when you make a "Special Plan Arrangement" you have to Phone and Renew that every 12 Months when it Expires. So those Special Plans will last 12 Months and they will send you a “New Rates” TEXT or EMAIL – you should Watch for that Message and Phone them to Change back to their Best Plan.
But Energy Australia reverts that Arrangement too, often in a very short time.
They get their Workers to Pour On their CHARM - Very Sweet and Friendly each time you phone to Complain about a Bill they Charged You TOO MUCH and they say it's TOO LATE to Change what they "Charged You in the Bill" but they can Give You a really Good Sounding Plan, which they often Revert to the Expensive Plan again anyway. I find that Treacherous.
I have learnt They CANNOT BE TRUSTED when Arrangements are made. They Break the Plans they so-called "Make with You" and drive you nuts, messing with your brain (so to speak) because you don't get very far with them (their plans)
A Family member who has been with them said they Played the Same Tricks Over and Over Again and told me he is going much better with AGL. Because Every time he Phones them and they give him the Cheapest Plan, they Honor those Arrangements. He went through my Recent Bill and said his Rates are definitely Cheaper.
Both Energy Australia and Engie have caused me BIG BILLS and BREAK THEIR WORD.
So Please Do AVOID if you Value Your Sanity AND Your Pocket.
They Cancelled the Cheap Energy Plan they Arranged with me yet again a few weeks after, recently.
So this time I Caught them in their Tracks - Proof Positive!
So this time I AM Changing over to AGL I was with Years ago. I never had any problems with them,
and my Family Member said he doesn't either.
Energy Australia sent me a $147 Bill about 4 weeks after the Cheap Arrangements were made –
and they have Fortnightly Payments I’ve made for a Long Time now.
I should take them to the OMBUDSMAN, They Are SO GREEDY. I Don't use that much Gas. They should Stop LEECHING from People, and so should Engie who Changed their Name because Simply Energy got a BAD Name. This much I have learned, there is NOTHING SIMPLE about either of those Companies!
Find another provider
They kept putting prices up so i did a review and found cheaper provider and saving money now. After i left they now ring me to tell me they have new deals and asked why i left, when should have done this before i decided to leave.
This is why they lose customers- bad service and only contact people when people leave them for another company.
Look at your bill and find better supplier
They should stop ringing me as i left them.

May as well talk to a bot
May as well talk to a bot. Messaged online "help" to get an approximate date for the next bill being due, to assist with budgeting. Spoke with a human who told me multiple times when my meter will be read and that a bill will be generated after this, but didnt seem to grasp when I tried to clarify I wanted a date, or approximate date when the bill will be due. Cant work this out accurately myself based on previous bills, its also not available in your account info. Useless company.
Energy Australia are extorting their customers
Energy Australia tried coerce me into retaining the smart functionality on the smart meter they installed on my home. They want to charge $890 per year for manual meter readings. No option to do self-readings. They told me all providers will be the same because the charges come from the supplier, which may or may not be true, however, there are competitors that don't charge anything for this. This is extortion, plain and simple. Manufacturing consent to keep people from exercising their dwindling rights. I immediately switched to a competitor that doesn't charge and allows me to conduct meter readings myself.
Edit: Generic AI generated replies that offer nothing in the way of a meaningful response and don't address any of the issues I raised, are only damaging your reputation further. Shame on you, Energy Australia, and ultimately it's your loss, not mine.

BEWARE CUSTOMERS!
BEWARE CUSTOMERS!! AVOID THIS COMPANY!! A representative called me advising he was touching base with his old clients. I was with AGL and this person called Mark told me to leave AGL as the rates had increased dramatically. I asked for the comparison rates and he LIED, signed us up with AE and 4 days later we got a backdated bill of three months the was from our last quarter with AGL at AE rediculously higher rate! Illegal and disgraceful!! Called AE complained and found out luckily we are still with AGL and our account had not been transferred yet, a lucky escape from this dodgy company and the customer service is disgraceful!!! PLEASE AVIOD THEM!! WILL BE REPORTING THEM TO THE OMBUDSMAN!!
