Power went in our house
Power went in our house, only us none of the neighbors. It was 21:30 at night. Within an hour there was an ESB technician at our door, within 10 minutes he discovered the issue was a laggy connection between our house and the ESB pole outside. Having identified the issue the ESB technician passed the problem to another ESB technician who had the proper rig to deal with the issue. By 23:30-0:00 the issue was fixed, we could not have asked for a better experience, top marks for the 2 guys and the ESB.
6 months waiting
It is close to 6 months now and I’m still waiting for the ESB to move an electricity pole for my house which is currently being built.
There is zero communication from them. They are, however, very good at coming up with excuses for delays.
TRUMP giving ESBN press releases?
Is Trump issuing the ESBN press releases?
What a lot of lies re software management: “Only 0.05% left to fix” etc.
I expect outside consultants like Fujitsu are making a lot of money by prolonging this issue. We should be told.
Terrible customer service
I have purchased a house in Ireland - ESB networks tell a different story each time I call to try get electricity sorted (as there is none) - it seems to be an impossible task to actually get anyone to help - the latest customer service person, Cathy is one of the rudest people I have ever encountered.
Saturday night
Saturday night. Some 500-something customers without electricity for at least 5 hours and get their weekend ruined. This Timeline is moved forward hour by hour to keep people hoping. This happens multiple times yearly. Planned outages are even worse. Full 8 hours every time. What are hobbyists like myself supposed to do? Reptiles on heatmats that doesn't heat. People with life saving equipment? I work from home! This truly is a banana republic with it's flimsy airborne network. And you don't even have to compensate people. What a joke.

I went through hell with electricity to access because I am deaf disability. I had no electricity for nearly two weeks. I had no access at all. Government society in ireland is very bad to access with deaf disability

I know it's not easy lads, are you definitely do the best you can.i didn't have electricity yesterday. So I ring and it showed I was in a known fault estimated 28 hours later but we fair the half rear stated were in two hours good job lads
Useless
Utterly useless! Wouldn’t power a bag of beans
The most unreliable power network in…
ESB have a tough job, but it would be a lot easier if they shared information about planned work with any customers affected by it.
They claim planned outages which they never inform customers about in advance. They have to sort out better communication.
We have had about 10 power cuts in a year. I've worked and lived in 4 or 5 other countries and never experienced this level of unreliable supply. If I knew they were upgrading the network I would understand this more. But there's no info from them about this.
The actual people we deal with directly at ESB seem fine, so this must be a senior management issue.
Ireland is back of the queue in the EU for anything innovation when it comes to electrical supply. I doubt many here could tell you the difference between a fuse, MCB, RCD, RCBO and an AFDD. And don't even get started on single phase versus three phase.
Some of our most skilled in this area (and there is a lot of talent) have moved abroad. It's sad as we should be leading in this area, not last.

Waiting 8 years to replace the connection box on the side of the house. Numerous complaints have resulted in no solution. The cheek of these incompetent and lazy fools to waste my taxpayers money. Total and utter contempt to the people whonpay their wages. The place is full of apparatchiks and masons.
terrible cost for service
terrible cost for service. considering the network provider. its the most expensive and also has a hidden charge after 45min of use. iam supposed to be on a top up plan. yet it used more than I added to the account on top of excess fees for staying longer that 45min.
Absolutely appalling
Having been with Electric Ireland, ESB’s billing sub-division, for some time, when they started to rapidly increase the charges for electricity usage I issued 12 notices to demand clarity and transparency and requesting proof of verified claim but were completely ignored.
Two promissory notes were subsequently issued to ESB – lawful financial instruments issued in accordance with the Bills of Exchange Act 1882. ESB, not only retained these settlements but failed to offset them against my account without any lawful rebuttal.
I have now issued over 30 notices to both ESB and Electric Ireland, all in good faith and honour, none of which have been responded to. Instead I have been subjected to constant harassment and demands including four threats to disconnect me and trespassing on my private property. They have also ignored my vulnerable status completely despite this being confirmed in writing to them.
Electric Ireland have not only breached their own Energy Engage Code on numerous occasions but are blatantly breaching the CRU Customer Disconnection and Engagement Protocols whilst a complaint against both ESB and Electric Ireland is ongoing.
The actions of ESB and Electric Ireland show nothing but a trail of threats, bullying, intimidation and refusal to address my correspondence. They are clearly Corporations that have no interest in customer resolution, honour or fairness but are instead breaching their own codes of practice regardless of the stress and harm they are intentionally causing.
People need to be made aware of these issues when considering dealing with these corporations. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and provided with full transparency, not constantly bulled or threatened.
They deserve a score of zero.
Exceptional
From beginning to end every dealing that I’ve had with the ESB has been amazing. From the software that they use for new connections to the actual connection to repairing a fault. The operators have been a pleasure to deal with as have the electricians on the ground.
Power outages again.
Lost power again for about the 6th time this year . It has to be planned maintenance, 2 minutes after the power went off I logged on to power check and they said maintenance in Wilkinstown down from 2pm-6pm my power went off at 3. I'm sick of it they are a long way off the esb of the old days very poor service. Also prices keep going up and up for what reason a worse service??????
using faster with debit card
Used a faster charger in Dingle on the 8/8/2025 with my debit card. They took 50 euro from account which is normal but as in the 02/9/2025 still haven't got the balance back. After calling them on 3 occasions still no nearer to been refunded. Lesson to be learned from this is never ever use your bank card for to charge with them.
Power outage
Had a power outage today reported the fault. They said they would fix it within 3 hours and it was sorted before then. The man that came was great fixed the problem very quickly. Excellent customer service. Well done ESB

In this day and age the amount of power cuts is crazy!
Electric Ireland inaccurate billing
Different experience here in relation to meter readings. I have a long standing account with Electric Ireland but have been having issues with vastly inaccurate meter readings. The one I got this week was classed as "estimated" but we had a person at our house last week doing an actual reading? I got the bill this week and was shocked so checked the meter myself. It was out by almost €600. I can understand small discrepancies either way but this is outrageous. To compound matters, when you query Electric Ireland, they tell you to take it up with ESB Networks as they supply the meter readings. My point is that Electric Ireland issue the bills so the onus is on them to ensure the information is correct and not just wash their hands and ignore their customers. Anyone else having issues with incorrect bills.
Power Cut on and off for 2 days
Power Cut on and off for 2 days, I have electronics that are expensive and susceptible to a power outage which can cause damage, their is no warning, no message, my father can’t work as the constant power outages are risking damage for his computer, my mother can’t cook dinner. This is unacceptable and ESB should be held accountable for this along with the Irish government for not investing in our power grid. If ESB see this it is about outages in ramsgrnage in country Wexford
