We were referred to Frugal Flyer through a social media forum and used it to sign up for a new savings account with one of the banks. The process with Frugal Flyer was well documented. The payment of the bonus reward was quick relative to other similar websites after the account was opened. I opened the account on Jan 28th and the bonus was sent to my PayPal account on Feb 4th, so 3 business days total. I'll note that we already had an existing account with the bank and so that may have helped expedite the process. No issues, no follow-ups, no support inquiries or submission of proof. Very seamless.

It's hard to decide on what to choose these days. Seeing all the info in one place and being able to compare makes it so easy. Add to this the cash back makes it a no brainer.

Unfortunately I have to rate it a 0. My Amex card was approved through a referral on their site in July of 2025. I submitted my details for my approved card. No news for months. I asked if they needed any info further but was told no. Now it is declined. No explanation and very weird as I am using the card daily. Disappointing of course
This is the literal defence number provided by Scotia for my successful application and the one logged into frugal flyer. I would attach images if I could as they will say “we tried reaching out to scotiabank with the reference number but can’t confirm”. Seems to be a ploy pulled with random accounts so that they can keep the referral fee as evidenced by various people on redflagdeals an reddit
Update: thanks for the response. My review still stands as it feels arbitrary that frugalflyer and scotiabank can deem my card non commissionable after I completed my obligation in good will. I do like the card though. Customers should just be aware that they may not get a rebate if their card is arbitrarily deemed uncommisomable after the fact.

Hi Jeff,
This complaint is in relation to a Scotiabank credit card application. We followed up with the Scotiabank credit card affiliate team to attempt to confirm your application approval and eligibility, using the reference number you provided, and they determined that this application was not commissionable.
I can assure you that there is no ploy going on here. We want to pay out 100% of all rebates, but if the rebate application is determined non commissable by the institution, then we cannot pay the rebate without incurring a loss on the application. Ultimately, the financial institution is responsible for determining rebate eligibility.
Update: Our submitted request was for you remove your reference number from your review as it is personal information.
