I wondered if they used hotels who otherwise found their rooms difficult to sell and were therefore only average.
However the Villiers in Buckingham was just wonderful.
Nice location, room, food and great staff.
I shouldn’t have been so doubtful

Excellent all-round package
We recently went on the 2 night Alnwick Castle Northumberland Break at the White Swan Hotel, and had a wonderful time. The hotel has great character especially the Olympic Suite restaurant, the staff were exceptional, and the food was also very good. The included visits to Alnwick Castle and the separate Alnwick Gardens were both amazing with so much to see and do. Alnwick is also a lovely town to visit.
The whole experience from booking to visit was very easy with good communication throughout. Highly recommended.

We appreciate your note on the restaurant service charge. While the dinner included in your package offers a £30 per person allowance on the first night, service charges may still apply. We’ll pass along your feedback to ensure this information is as clear as possible.

The White Swan Alnwick
The hotel was stunning but all the bedrooms were on the upper floors with no lift.
The food choice was very poor and limited, especially if you are not a meat eater. The food was luke warm at the evening meal and breakfast.
The bed was extremely uncomfortable, we took our own mattress topper which helped soften it up a bit.
The staff were very helpful at all times.
