Very fishy company
Very fishy company! It's unclear if they are an actual scam or just a really poorly run operation, but either way, STAY AWAY!
I met with someone from Guest Services at The Thompson Hotel in Palm Springs, and was offered advertising space in a brochure that was to be given to all guests of the hotel. The man I met with was very pushy and insisted that if I wanted this "opportunity," I needed to sign the contract and submit payment with 4 hours of meeting with him. That should have been the first red flag, but I was honored to have the opportunity to advertise my small creative business to the discerning clientele at this hotel.
It was mentioned that the brochure would feature a map of the area around the hotel, showing the locations of all the advertisers. I mentioned during the meeting that my business was located a 45 minute drive from the hotel and asked if this would affect my placement on the map. I wanted to make sure that I would receive everything that was promised to me, including map placement. The man brushed off my concerns and said it wouldn't be a problem.
After submitting my advertisement to the graphics department, they told me that I wouldn't be on the map because my business was located too far away. I told them that I asked about this SPECIFIC ISSUE during my meeting, prior to signing any contracts or paying anyone, and was told I would be on the map.
They told me the best they could do would be put an arrow pointing off map to my business. Obviously I was very upset at this, because viewers of the map could think my business was located on the MOON, for all they know. An arrow pointing in a general direction beyond the scope of the map was completely insufficient and not what I was promised. When I expressed my frustrations in a phone call to a Guest Services employee, they got quickly annoyed and said there was nothing they could do.
At no point in this entire process did Guest Services ever take ANY responsibility for essentially performing a bait and switch. No apologies, no admission of fault, nothing.
Ultimately, they cancelled my contract due to "issues beyond their control" (again avoiding admission of fault), and promised a "prompt refund." I waited over TWO MONTHS, in which they totally stopped responding to my emails and never gave me a refund. I had to file a dispute through my credit card.
Do not do business with this "company." They are shady and unprofessional, at BEST, and committing fraud at worst.
