Amazing Company
Hatchways helped me get my first job as a developer when I was struggling to get noticed by companies due to a lack of work experience. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend to anyone trying to get a start in their career as a developer!
"Hatchways acts as a good filter" - my employer
Opted in with their program. Finished the 4 week project(they evaluate you on your soft and hard skills). Got 2 interviews through their platform (potential employers can see your evaluations). One offer. I think the benefit of Hatchways for employers is that Hatchways does a lot of the heavy lifting for the hiring process. They have a good system to evaluate potential hires. Aside from the experience received from the project, I also received valuable interview prep for the specific company that was going to interview me.
What I tell people when I talk about Hatchways: Detailed feedback, genuine people, and great support!!!
Coming from a non-traditional 4-year CS degree background and transitioning from a field which is non-tech related, it was hard for me, a boot camp grad to find a job. I have applied over 500 applications in 6 months and I'm always rejected for the reason that I do not have enough experience in the field. That really got me thinking if I am not good enough yet, until I gave myself and Hatchways a chance.
During the co-op program, I got to work on a project in a team that simulates the real work environment. The best part of the project for me was I get detailed feedback on what I did well and what I need to work on. The one-on-one mock behavioral and technical interviews are really helpful as well, and I feel more prepared during my interviews.
With Hatchways help, I was able to do interviews more confidently and I can proudly demo my co-op project during the interviews. I'm now a full-time front-end engineer, and THANK YOU Shums, Jaclyn, Bonnie, and Aecio!
I had a wonderful experience with…
I had a wonderful experience with Hatchways as they matched me with my current position. I completed a Hatchways online assessment which evaluated the Correctness, Organization, Performance, Quality, and Speed of my submitted code. This assessment allowed me to begin matching with employers on their platform.
They provided me great feedback and using the results of this assessment they introduced me to an employer who was interested in interviewing me! The interview prep guide they have on their website was useful and helped me prepare for my interview as it covered many common interview questions that are typically asked.
I was later given a formal job offer that I would have otherwise not have received without their help!
I still cannot believe how lucky I am to have found Hatchways
Okay... This platform is a life saver. I mean that literally. Without Hatchways, a self-taught developer like me has absolutely no chance of being noticed within the hundreds and thousands of applications employers receive on job boards. Unless you already have 5+ years enterprise experience, you're dead to them.
Hatchways allowed me to prove my abilities through well-designed assessments, they offered feedback, and within a couple of weeks, brought a job opportunity my way that I was fortunate enough to land!
If it wasn't for Hatchways, I'd be stuck in career limbo for god knows how long. Months? Years?
If you're a self-taught developer, Hatchways is going to be your absolute best shot at entering this industry and starting that career you've worked so hard for.
Listen to them! Use their resources! And be grateful they exist!
HIGHLY recommended!
The short version is Hatchways is an incredible program and you if you're a developer that can't get your foot in the door, try Hatchways. I'm a bootcamp grad that has a completely non-engineering related degree. From what I've seen, my experience is common -- screened at the door for no previous experience, an unrelated degree, and the interviews I did get I "did well on but decided to go in a different direction".
In broad strokes, Hatchways groups developers to build a project with an assigned mentor and will grade you along the way on both hard and soft skills. Along the way they host talks that cover the interview process, skills to know/learn, and anything else they feel could be useful, often catered to that cohort. After the process was over they continued to provide events and a dedicated community to go over DSA challenges and practical (non algorithmic) challenges.
One of my biggest challenges pre-Hatchways was just a lack of feedback on all fronts -- on projects, on code, on my resume, on my interview answers. On top of Hatchways being an external source of job leads, they helped refine my ability to land interviews by giving constructive feedback. I'm currently working for a company they connected me with and couldn't be happier with the result.
Hatchways is sth u need
During Covid-19, it was so hard for one to find a job, or even get an interview invitation. It was especially true for me, someone took a career change and just graduated from coding bootcamp. Hatchways played a vital role in my job landing by referring me to multiple interviews and providing one-on-on training on coding/behavioral interview questions.
The experience with Hatchways was 100% positive.

Hatchways did an amazing job helping to prepare me for interviews, get me connected with companies, and giving advice/resources.
Excellent program
I got accepted into the coop program and although I didn't complete it for personal reasons it is an excellent program that is very well thought of to help pave the way for skilled professionals to find the job they want. The team is very welcoming and helpful and they make sure you're supplied with all the resources to succeed. I highly recommend Hatchways for all aspiring developers!
I have recently relocated to Canada…
I have recently relocated to Canada from a different country where I had some experience as a web developer. I was actively seeking for new opportunities in Toronto when I found Hatchways.
My impressions of the process from the test assignment to my first interview are very positive. Shums gave me invaluable advices during our mock interview. He also provided me with some good materials for practicing tech questions.
As a result, I got a 3-month contract in a startup.
Great experience
I started with Hatchways post bootcamp during pandemic when job market was pretty tight. Right from introductory assessment to the co-op project what I received was feedback, feedback and feedback. The feedback really helps to improve as a candidate and helps you focus on pain points that you might overlook or may not know since most employers do not provide any feedback upon failing an interview. The co-op project really gave me hands on work experience in a remote agile environment along with how to actually do code reviews which often gets neglected when you do individual projects. I ended up taking a contract role with an early stage startup shortly after completing the co-op program but it wouldn't have been possible without Hatchways mock interview prep sessions for both technical and behavioral apart from resume writing sessions and approaches to cold emailing potential employers. Hatchways team continues to provide me technical guidance and assistance whenever I ask for throughout my current contract. Its like a community which is always there for you as you start your dev journey. They do an excellent job in filling the gaps that Bootcamps tend to miss.
My experience with Hatchways has been…
My experience with Hatchways has been extremely positive. I thoroughly enjoyed doing the technical challenges, and really appreciated the constructive feedback. Special thanks to Bonnie, Shums, Jaclyn and the rest of the Hatchways team for providing me with interview prep as well as organizing interviews for me. I would highly recommend this service to anyone looking for a tech job.
Hatchways helped me out so much…
Hatchways helped me out so much throughout my job search journey and I’ve had a great experience with them. Bonnie from Hatchways arranged multiple sessions of pre-interview preps and mock coding interviews, where I was able to receive helpful and thoughtful feedbacks (a huge THANK YOU to Bonnie and rest of the Hatchways team!). To be honest, I was at first not expecting anything at all for trying out Hatchways. But then I got an offer from the first interview they have arranged for me, and I ended up taking the offer. They tried to match my preferences as much as possible (e.g. interests, job location and type). I am very happy that I’ve found this position and a company through Hatchways — I am enjoying it so far and I wish I have found them and Hatchways sooner. I would 100% recommend Hatchways to anyone who might be looking for Engineering jobs!
A great program for career switchers
I was looking for a career switch from Finance to Software Engineering and had worked through freecodecamp.org and various coding projects, but felt I didn't have the work skills, or connections, required to land a job. I am based in the SF Bay Area and found Hatchways through Y Combinator's website.
I started in Hatchways in March 2020 and started a 4-week small group project. We had an experienced Hatchways team lead and worked in weekly sprints. Not only do you become a much better coder by working with different technologies, doing and receiving code reviews and exchanging ideas with your colleagues, but you become prepared to work as part of a team on a fast-moving, complex project. I ended up working a lot of hours and late nights on the project, but I was learning so much I didn't mind.
Once the project finished, which gave me a great addition to my portfolio, Hatchways found a 6-week paid contract for me at a start-up. It didn't pay a lot, but it gave me more great experience of working on a real production app and the step up in quality that's required for that.
Towards the end of the contract Hatchways started setting up interviews for me, using their contacts to get me interviews. They invested time in preparing me for each interview, including mock interviews if I wished.
I ended up interviewing at 5 different start-ups (my focus was to join an early-stage start-up), ending in 2 job offers.
Hatchways is an excellent program for those with coding experience (self-taught or college) who need help getting ready for their first job in this area. It not only helps you get a job, but also sets you up for success once you start that job. Thanks Hatchways!
They got me in
They got me into my first job as a software developer. I had worked in the business side of tech and studied programming on my own, but was struggling getting in front of employers for software developer positions.
The team was excellent at coaching on skills to focus on, and when they connected me with employers were extremely helpful in interview prep, going through several mock interviews and coding tests with me.
Because of their help, I'm now working full-time as a software developer. Many thanks to the team.
Recommended to any struggling developer
Thanks to Hatchways, I faced many new experiences such as my first time working in an Agile team and my first tech job. Before working with Hatchways, I had trouble finding potential jobs and I probably never even got close to getting hired when I did find them. But now I'm well on my way to becoming a professional developer.
Amazing experience!
I rarely give 5 star reviews for anything, but my experience with Hatchways was simply amazing. I started their co-op program while at the same time getting interviews from them. 2 weeks before even completing the co-op I got a job, and I'm absolutely certain that wouldn't have been possible without their mock interviews and preparation advices. The co-op program was also incredibly helpful, as it encourages you to learn areas you are not comfortable with while also giving you collaboration experience. Everyone there is super helpful and supportive, and their feedback is invaluable. Trusting Hatchways was the best thing I did for my career.
I've been in Canada for over a year now…
I've been in Canada for over a year now and until a month ago I had been having a hard time with technical interviews especially with high profile companies.
So when Hatchways came under my radar, I decided to give their Coop program a go since I can decide to opt-out without paying if I don't like it.
The coop project is great for anyone who needs "Real world" experience, you participate in daily standup meetings, code reviews and you make lots of design/implementation decisions.
I was able to land a job (through hatchways) before I finished my project so it all worked out.
Their team is proactive and thorough and I would definitely recommend their program for people who are struggling to land a tech job.
Great Experience!
They've been great about helping me to improve my job hunting skills, and helping me gain relevant job experience. They've also managed to land me a couple of short term contracts!
Very helpful, give Hatchways a try!
I was helped by Bonnie, and had a great experience. She gave great advice and set up interview opportunities with companies who were a good fit for me. In the end, I ended up accepting an offer from a company I applied to with a referral from a friend, but if you're looking for a new role, definitely give Hatchways a try!
