Disappointing

Majority of communication is via digital means and difficult to speak to a person to resolve issues or get important answers quickly, I understand this is the way things are heading but in this day and age I believe when it comes to running a business and requiring accountancy advice verbal communication is still as important as it’s always been.

My first call with Helpbox was simply positive, clear and extremely helpful. Coral was very friendly and detailed and she made the whole process of onboarding my company on their system effortless.

Highly recommend Hotelbox and a good shout to both Coral Carter and Molly Aldridge as they were amazing throughout the process.

Amended review - Separating facts from opinion.

This is an edited review of Helpbox because their solicitor is threatening me with a High Court Injunction.
So for clarity and for the avoidance of further threatening letters I am going to split this review into FACTS and OPINIONS as follows:

FACTS FOR WHICH I CAN PROVIDE EVIDENCE:

FACT 1 – Helpbox did not file my husband’s self-assessment despite confirming to us in writing that it had been done and us paying for this service. To date, after weeks of calls and confusion, they have still only posted an amendment, not the original. This caused HMRC to fine him for missing the filing deadline which I later had revoked by spending hours on the phone to HMRC navigating Helpbox’s mistakes.
PROOF: I have a letter from HMRC stating that my husband’s return was never filed, only an amendment which caused the delay which triggered the fine. I have ‘phone records of the hours I have spent unravelling this.

FACT 2 – Helpbox then filed my husband’s self-assessment against someone else’s Unique Tax Reference which means that an unknown person had access to my husband’s personal data which included his NI number, UTR, home address, salary & employment etc.
PROOF: A Director at Helpbox has admitted this data breach in open correspondence. Furthermore, I have an email from Helpbox in which they forwarded the HMRC receipt for the filing and confirming the UTR address it was filed against which is not my husband’s UTR.

FACT 3 – Helpbox charged me for filing my company’s payroll and didn’t file it.
PROOF - A Director at Helpbox has admitted this in open correspondence and it is a FACT that it was not filed and a FACT that I paid for it to be filed for which I have invoices and receipts.

FACT 4 – I have asked Helpbox to refund all of my fees and they have offered to refund around a third of what I paid. I am now taking them to Small Claims Court but their defence is that I have no contractual relationship with them despite them having charged me as “HELPBOX” and all correspondence has been with a helpbox email address, their terms are in the name of Helpbox and the Director’s email address is @helpboxuk.com
PROOF: I have emails from a Director refusing to refund my fees and I have the court documents to prove that this is their defence.

MY OPINIONS:

OPINION 1 – It is my opinion that helpbox are incompetent.
OPINION 2 – It is my opinion that by pretending they had no contractual relationship with me they are dishonest.
OPINION 3 – By sharing my husband’s personal data they have put him at heightened risk of identity fraud.
OPINION 4 - I would not recommend Helpbox.

I liked their approach from the start

After speaking with a few companies, I decided to go with Helpbox, and I’m really glad I did. I liked their approach from the start, and Ash made me feel comfortable and confident in my decision.

The onboarding process was quick and smooth, and Sivu was lovely, very approachable and more than happy to answer all of my questions.

Overall, a really positive experience so far, and I would definitely recommend them.

Helpbox resolved my HMRC…

Helpbox resolved my HMRC self-assessment issue efficiently. I appreciated their clear communication and quick response after I provided the necessary information, confirming my entitlement to the result. It reduced my stress and prevented a penalty.

Helpbox make it all simple!

From day 1 Helpbox have made everything so simple for my Ltd company! Things get done so quickly and any HMRC admin/issues are sorted easily. I would recommend to any new or established business!

Excellent experience so far.

I became a client of Helpbox a couple of months ago and must say that they are one of the most professional and well organised accounting firms I have worked with. What I like the most is that they have different departments for each area (e.g. VAT, Payroll, Book keeping etc) and getting answers to a particular question is dealt with and responded to quickly by someone in the relevant department. I am looking forward to working with Helpbox going forward.

Good accounts bad communication

While the actual accounts themselves were fine, I dealt with several different people constantly. From initial contact to the final accounts I spoke with 4 different people, which in of itself isn’t too bad. However, the accounts themselves came through a generic email, after which I spoke with two separate accountants to confirm filing. Email response is generally extremely slow. I had to follow up an email three times over the course of a week just to get a response.

Again, the accounts themselves were fine however the customer service and communication was truly disappointing throughout. The only person that was really responsive was the sales rep Paddy, after that it dropped off. If you need someone to just do your accounts then go with these guys. If your accounts are a little more complicated or you just want to deal with one person who is also your accountant then avoid Helpbox

I found Adele my initial contact and Ryan, who was my onboarding/go-to person, to be very helpful. I appreciated the way we discussed my requirements before I came onboard. This made me feel that the team genuinely wanted to understand what I needed from the services they provide. It was a great initial contact and set a positive tone for my engagement with the rest of the team!

Unprofessional and useless. Stay away!

Unprofessional and useless. Keep being charged even after cancelling my subscription with them. Can’t speak to a person in the UK!!! Oversees call centres! Keep receiving emails for more documents. Stay away, save your money.

No communication whatsoever between them, have to keep explaining myself time and again. Seriously. Stay away, save your money.
