Professional and trustworthy
Has been with HomeTime for over 12 months now. HomeTime hosting partner (James) and his team has been very professional and trustworthy in all their dealings. Also, the new integrated property management platform that has been established is very user friendly and transparent.

Hometime will cancel the booking and then offer it to you again at over double the price
Hometime are the managers of a property that my partner and I booked through Air bnb for a 3-night stay in Melbourne. Our reservation was cancelled approximately 1.1-5 months after it was confirmed.
A couple of weeks after cancellation, Hometime contacted me to apologise for the cancellation and offer me a “different” property. The “different” property they offered me was the exact same property, relisted under a slightly different name and at 2.1x the price we had our original reservation confirmed for. Additionally, a 4-night minimum stay was now implemented.
This is a complete rort and taking advantage of paying guests, and I have evidence to confirm everything about this issue. The only thing I can think that has happened is if the owner decided to move to a different hosting agency and if that’s the case they should have honoured all current reservations. I have booked properties that have undergone renovations, increased their prices and minimum night stays after I booked and always had them honour the original terms and price of the booking I made prior to enhancements.
Hometime have since reached out and apologised and offered to rectify the issue. Unfortunately this has left a sour taste in our mouths and we have found more reputable and better accommodation elsewhere. Hopefully this assists them in preventing something like this happening again in the future.

Terrible service, avoid at all costs
HomeTime’s lack of care for our property has left us feeling the need to publicly warn others about this dysfunctional business.
Our experience with HomeTime has been terrible from day one. They claim to make money through the 20% management fee but the real business model is the extortionate cleaning fees ($660 for a 3 bed house) that were non-negotiable. The house was heavily discounted over the peak season so the final amount coming to us, the home owner, was measly whilst HomeTime took home a huge profit on cleaning costs. Not a two-way partnership.
Disorganised, slow to respond to our concerns, calendar mismanagement and damage to the house was not reported, so we’re unable to claim it through Airbnb.
After we cut our contract, our house has now been handed back to us this week in a terrible state (mouldy bathrooms, damaged and missing items, stained carpets).
This is not a property management company, this is an expensive cleaning service offering substandard cleaning for extortionate fees. Avoid at all costs.

Pros and cons
Management of guests logistics is great and responsiveness is impeccable.
The quality of cleaning has deteriorated in the recent 12 months. Change of contractor? Stains sometimes persist on cupboards, no attention is paid to outdoor areas (balcony), dust accumulating in some areas. Short term cleaning is generally fine (dishes, vacuuming, sinks etc) but there is no particular continuity.
Some damage is not being reported and acted on promptly.
I recommend that a guest guide is developed for some nuances of each flat so that guests don't damage appliances.
Overall a good experience and we have stayed with hometime for several years, despite some drawbacks.

Easy to use, found our house sitter
Easy to use, we have found a house and dog sitter for our next trip, so now we can get down to concentrating on fine tuning our trip and relax, knowing our home and fur baby will be looked after while we're away

This is the first time in many years I…
This is the first time in many years I “only” give Hometime 4 stars. Whereas I’m still very happy with the hosting and service of our apartment in Melbourne, I feel the cleaning and tidying has become quite sloppy. Messy pantry cupboards, untidy book shelves and smudged glasses and dishes etc etc show lack of an eye for detail from the cleaners. A little more care would go a long way and wouldn’t take much time. Thank you

Lovely place to stay at
Lovely place to stay at, so close to all shops and transport like trams and trains will take you where you want to go either sport venues art centre, restaurants or theatres will be staying there again.

Since the last review
Since the last review, there have been some issues for Annie to deal with, namely changeover to 3 phase power in the apartment block, installation of a new water system and internet outages and she has been most helpful and prompt in her attentions.
I would still wish to see the star rating for our apartment lifted but as it is nearly fully booked it seems potential guests do not mind so much....maybe.

Generally everything good
Generally everything good. Just the initial communication with prop manager could have been better or clearer. Telephone line was always very crackly and was difficult to understand what was being said. Communication by email later was perfect.
