Hope4Paws UK & Spanish Rescue Bewertungen 

(So. H4P has succeeded in having my previous reviews removed. Multiple accounts, apparently. I don't understand VPN etc so i guess the tech wizz who devised their glossy new website did this for them.
My name is John Smale. I have one account.
I adopted 2 dogs from Romania in Feb 2025. I was assured by a H4P volunteer called Darren, in January 2025, on the instructions from Michelle Jones, that the dogs had been tested for Brucellosis. Seems that this wasn't true, as H4P FAILED to produce the test results. I can't publish copies of the messages here but I have done ao on Facebook. I have just been through 12 agonising days waiting on Brucella test results. If the results had been bad then my 13 dogs would have all been euthanised. H4P even has the nerve to challenge the expertise of UK vets. Luckily, the results were negative, so my dogs and I can all get on with life.
If you are considering adopting or fostering a dog from Hope4Paws please INSIST on seeing Brucella, Leishmaniasis and Rabies test results before you commit. If they can't or won't provide the results , keep away.
I adore my dogs. I don't understand why H4P can not not be transparent, open and honest.
You will read loads of waffle in their responses to other bad reviews, reviews they claimed came from me, but are still live on Trustpilot, so clearly not written by me. The bad reviews are by real, live people.
Ultimately, we all have the best interests of the dogs at heart. I care deeply about them. So should any potential adopter .
I have no doubt that H4P will respond with the usual waffle. Believe what you like. I know the truth and one day, the truth will out.

I am horrified to see these negative reviews about Hope4Paws. I adopted a Mastín in 2024 from Southern Spain called Toni, and my experience was the complete opposite of what a small number of people are claiming here.

Before choosing Hope4Paws I contacted 3 other rescues. The attention to detail, communication, and paperwork with Hope4Paws was by far the most impressive. Nothing was rushed and everything was explained clearly.

My dog was fully blood tested before he left Spain. He had a low level of Leishmania. This rescue paid for his blood tests, treatment, kennel costs, neutering, microchipping, passport and transport. There is no mention in these negative reviews of the thousands spent on each dog before they even travel.

The volunteers work 24/7 to protect these dogs and the support does not stop once the dog arrives. They are still checking in and offering advice months later.

Look at the volume of positive reviews and successful adoptions. The facts, the paperwork, and the dogs’ welfare all speak louder than a targeted campaign by a few individuals.

To Michelle and the whole Hope4Paws team: thank you for everything you do. You have my full support.

I feel compelled to write this review because I have been following a number of posts made by one individual who, quite frankly, has no real understanding of what they are talking about.

I am the transporter responsible for bringing the dogs from Hope4Paws UK & Spain from Spain to the UK, and I have known this rescue for years. They do not deserve the false accusations and misleading claims being made about them.

This rescue works to extremely high standards. The volunteer team carefully scrutinises every passport, every medical record, and every procedure before any dog is approved to travel. Nothing is overlooked.
I myself ask for scanned copies of pet passports prior to arranging travel for pre approval for Traces
These are sent ahead to Madrid head office , and then pre approved to local OCA office (Spanish DEFRA)

Although Brucellosis testing is not currently mandatory in Spain, or UK unless thought of high risk,
this rescue has still insisted on it being carried out for Spanish dogs since 2024. That alone shows the level of care and responsibility they take.

In addition, they require full analytical blood testing to check for Mediterranean diseases, including Leishmania, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, Dirofilaria (heartworm/filaria), Babesia, and other relevant infections depending on the dog’s history and condition. These blood tests are carried out before a dog is even advertised, and then checked again before travel.

Their approach is meticulous. I personally handle and organise the transport arrangements and TRACES documentation, and I can say with complete confidence that every dog leaving Spain is medically assessed and fit to travel. Each dog is examined by a specialist travel vet, before leaving Spain and signed off for worming and clinical examination, and if any dog is undergoing treatment for a medical condition, the adopter is informed in advance. I also personally speak to adopters on arrival to explain any treatment plan and make sure everything is fully understood.
I even hand over medicines to last for treatment/s.
This is a rescue that goes above and beyond to protect the welfare of its dogs and to ensure adopters are properly informed. It is deeply unfair to see such dedication attacked by someone spreading misinformation.

I have seen first-hand how careful, transparent, and thorough this rescue is, and I would not hesitate to defend the exceptional standards they uphold.

I am proud of the rescue, fosterers, and adopters together finding the right home for the right dog.

I’ve just adopted two beautiful dogs through this rescue. They’ve been amazing from start to finish. I was kept up to date on every thing from initial contact, receiving photo’s, videos of prospective dogs to info on their medical tests, scans etc and their transport. Nothing was too much trouble. I was worried initially it may be a difficult process but they made it super easy. They put a lot of hard work in throughout the process and always someone on hand to give advice etc. Wish id found them sooner. Their hearts and souls are in the work for animals. Forever grateful 🩵

As a rescuer in Spain for the last 20 years, I honestly cannot thank Michelle and her dedicated team @ Hope4Paws (all volunteers) enough for helping so many abandoned and abused dogs from Spain and finding such lovely new homes and adopters for them - giving them the chance of a better life.

Michelle is a very kind and extremely honest person and genuinely cares about every single dog she helps, doing her absolute best to find the right family and homes for each of them with thorough and stringent checks, including home checks, being completed.

Her team always makes sure that all the required paperwork, passports/chips and vaccines are correct and up to date and always insists that current full blood analyses are completed for every single dog who travels, including the test for Brucellosis and will make sure the adopters are informed.

Michelle always provides updates, photos/videos of how the dogs are doing in their new homes, which is very important to me as a rescuer to know.

These dogs have endured a very long journey from start to finish from Spain to the UK and that in itself is stressful enough for them and they need time to adjust not only to a new Country but also to the new and better, but very different, life that is waiting for them.

However, if the person (and you know who you are) thinks it is acceptable to turn up and collect their new dog (one of my Mastins) without the suitable and secure collar, lead and safety harness (which is an absolute must for any dog being collected from a transport after travelling for over 3 days) but then even worse and allowing the dog to escape, then you are very much mistaken if you think any rescue would allow you to keep the dog, after having spent two days desperately trying to find him and catch him.

Thank you for the amazing work you do Michelle, and the care and compassion you show. You have helped so many dogs who otherwise would not have the chance of a better future.

EDIT: This is a legitimate adopter and this is based off of my legitimate experiences with the rescue dog I adopted. Trustpilot can request proof however I have verified my profile for this reason. I do not want to have identifiable information in here as I have seen what has happened for others, and I do not want to face any more stress. This review is not for Hope4Paws and rather for the general public.

I will not leave my experience as I have seen how it has gone for others, but please be very careful. I urge you to read the contract in depth, research leishmaniasis and do not be surprised if the dog you get is not the same age / size / temperament that you were expecting. I would also urge you to check over and translate all blood tests, consult a UK vet when blood tests received and triple check all details. Please do your due diligence. Sending love to all affected and to all dogs in need, but please be smart as a kind soul who wishes to rescue a dog that you are not putting yourself or your existing pets in a rubbish situation. Very happy for the others who have had a good experience. It appears to be somewhat of a coin toss.

This rescue group is a true example of humanity and pure love. The dedication they show in their work to save lives is truly admirable. They don’t just rescue dogs from difficult situations; they surround them with love, provide them with medical care, and give them endless patience until they find the perfect home for each one.

They are incredibly transparent, kind, and genuinely care about the well-being of every animal in their care. It’s clear that, for them, this is not simply volunteering it’s their life’s mission.

I wholeheartedly recommend supporting them, because the world is a better place thanks to people like them.
