We’re Forest. You know, those shared ebikes in London that look like trees. We’re London’s most affordable and most sustainable shared eBike. We give everyone 10 minutes free riding time, every day. It doesn’t stop at 10 minutes though, we offer riders a way to get even more free minutes by watching ads from our conscious-minded partners. We power our operations with 100% renewable energy (which we have done since day 1). We then offset our manufacturing emissions by growing an actual forest, through local and responsible tree planting, in Wales.

I was incorrectly charged for a trip, even though I had minutes in my bundle. I contacted them by online form, and sent them multiple emails. I also called but their lines are down. I followed up multiple times
I used to use them daily going into uni when they first started in London and they were great. Now it's just a money grabbing scam!

Crazy expensive comparing to Lime and a worst riding experience

Why monopolise an entire area with your bikes, then not provide the exact service you should be providing! You’ve completely the bike rental market in a major part of London, congratulations!

Quite possibly the worst customer service, in fact they don’t reply to any emails regarding irregular billing. One day, have been billed 3 separate times, £55, £22, £15, despite having purchased a £9.99 day pass. Have emailed them twice and have had no reply, so had to raise it a fraudulent transactions with my bank xxx

I tried Forest bikes for the first time today. I would really like to find a reliable bike service as I like to cycle. But Forest was even worse than their more famous competitors which takes some doing.
The bike kept locking every few minutes. I figured out i had to keep going back to the app, selecting pause, then restart, and that would unlock it again for another few minutes. The alarm kept going off as well. Always nice looking like you've stolen the bike. The bike had battery but the power would only last a few minutes at a time before i had to cycle manually which, I wouldn't mind if I wasn't paying a premium. To top it all off the pedals kept getting very hard to push, like it was being locked or something.
Jack at Forest customer service refused to refund me. So yeah, I do not recommend this service. Thanks Forest for stealing 10 pounds out of my wallet and wasting 45 minutes of my time.

Have been a loyal customer for a good number of years. Previously had received responses from customer services when had issues. The most recent time it was absolute radio silence after multiple weeks waiting and a follow up email. Also had multiple issues with bikes, flat tyres, loose pedals etc
I’ve got no reason to remain loyal to forest at this point.
Update 30 Aug:
Forest did get in touch with me to follow up on the complaint and offered some complimentary minutes which was appreciated.

On 8 August 2026 at 20:26, I unlocked a Forest bike. The app immediately showed that the ride had been cancelled and recorded £0, but the bike remained physically unlocked.
My journey took less than ten minutes. When I arrived, the app showed no active ride, meaning there was no “End ride” function and no way for me to instruct the bike to lock. I attempted to telephone Forest, but the support line was closed.
Another person subsequently took the still-unlocked bike. Later that evening, the original cancelled £0 entry disappeared and was replaced by a completed 95-minute ride costing £23.15 and ending at a different destination.
Forest’s invoice records:
• 95 minutes of “driving”
• 0 minutes of “parking”
• 1.30 km travelled, although the route suggests the underlying figure may actually be miles and the invoice unit may be incorrect
• £1.00 and £0.70 Forest Flex fees
• £21.45 for 65 additional minutes at £0.33 per minute
The two actual cycling sections should have taken approximately 14 minutes in total. The most straightforward reconstruction therefore indicates that the bike remained stationary for approximately 80 minutes. Forest’s own terms state that a bike stationary for more than 20 minutes during a hire should be treated as abandoned.
I accept the proper £1 charge for my own journey. I dispute the remaining £22.15, which resulted from the app and locking system leaving the session associated with my account after I had finished.
I have asked Forest to examine the timestamped GPS data, app-status history and lock-command records and to refund £22.15. As of 10 August, I have received no substantive response.
This review will be updated if Forest resolves the matter.

I tried to use a forest bike yesterday, when I really needed one, but the app was glitchy and it took five login attempts to get to the correct page. Then I tried to use 8 different bikes across 3 different parking stations half a mile away from each other, before the 9th bike was available to use!! I couldn't use the VOI bikes parked in the same locations, as they use a different app! Which is infuriating as they are marketed as the same bike company. I'm furious - didn't even get to use my free minute. Why??

Antwort von Forest
Tried to use one of their bikes. I managed to log into their bike in Rotherhithe but it said it was out of order. Had to leave it where it was. I then got a bill for £32.68 for having traveled 00:00 distance. I've tried again and again to contact the company through emails, their chat channel, and by phone and there's no reply.
In general I would say that although their bikes are better than Lime's their app, connectivity, and customer support are garbage. Also in Central London 9 times out 10 their bikes say they are out of order. What a mess!
Edit: Here's some advice to other people in this situation. Go into the app. Look at your transactions there and raise a complaint on the actual transaction ticket. This is how I eventually got a refund.
Edit v2 in response to feedback from Forest. As I explained in my original review the chat channel does not work. I tried on multiple occasions.

I signed up to Forest this morning. Thought all was well. Tried to submit a referral code for 30 minutes.
Then I’m told I should’ve done this at the very beginning then why have the option later to add codes? Makes no sense.
I’m looking for a way to ride a bike to work every day, so I’m looking for a monthly subscription and because of the disingenuous stupid system and the lack of support I’ve requested to delete my account. And now i’ve signed up with somebody else.
Well on being so tight fisted now you loose £70 a month ! That’s a very clever business model and judging by the extremely low rating I’ve had a luckiest escape

Leaving bikes in the middle of the pavement is inconsiderate and creates an unnecessary obstacle for others. People with prams, wheelchairs, mobility aids, or visual impairments may struggle to get past safely. If you're promoting a greener way of travelling, please make sure your bikes are parked responsibly and do not block public pathways.

CAREFUL!! This company use your bank account without your approval ! And apparently to refund you ..without your authorisation & agreement..they first take money out ..then within 5 days.. they say you might get money in ..
Illegal ! A company cannot make transactions on your own bank account without you actively using its service or purchasing a service from it or without a verbal or written agreement with the authentication of both parts ! Insane ! And obviously NO ONE to speak or capable to rectify it ! Absurd
On top of it ...
No it was not any pre authorised transaction of 0,60£ or such. It was a part of a refund that I haven't even acknowledged and that up 'til now it has only taken £33 out of my bank account without my permission! Even if temporary ..no legal ! Not agreed! And the company asked more details to verify that my review is genuine.. I have been forced to be a customer by Richmond Borough in London! Forest paid to be the solo provider and I am one of the thousands who uses e bike to cross the infamous Hammersmith bridge daily to go to work !! So yes !! I am a genuine & a loyal unhappy customer!

My wife just had a 23 minute (3 mile) trip on a Forest bike, seeing their '£1 for 30 minutes' on the side of the bike, and naively assuming they were an honest business. They charged her nearly £9!! What a bunch of scammers.

Rubbish customer support. Massive over charge for crashed system and unable to end bike. No response. Phone lines permanently down. No human response by email. Eventually got money back by threatening court action.
Their response below states I can reach out via live chat. As well as no phone lines for weeks their live chat has also proven utterly useless. I logged this issue multiple times and nothing. I got an auto reply saying a human would contact me - nothing. I see this review actually got a response in a reasonable time though so obviously their PR team is still working hard.

I have been using Forest for few years now, because I believed in their mission, despite all the glitches. Echoing the other reviews, the app is terrible with no real improvements, and every time I would waste at least 30 sec-1 minute or more of my paid time to end the ride. I submitted countless bug reports.
Over 2 weeks ago, the option to end the ride simply wasn't appearing on the app. I tried the whole rigmarole of restarting the app, moving the bike to no avail. So I just left the bike, while keep trying to end the ride. They charged me for 28 minutes for all this, until the ride was automatically ended.
I submitted a report to their customer service as this was happening, and followed-up twice on it. I only ever got an automated response and of course no refund for the minutes that were wasted exclusively because of Forest.
So I've made the decision to move to Voi, and wow, the experience is far superior. It's a shame Forest is so badly run, would've had amazing potential as a business.

I have been useing forest for a while. Safe to say not anymore if this doesn’t get solved. I have incorrect charges adding up to £100 but I can not contact them anyway. When I call I get repeated “Our phone lines are down”, when I email I get ignored and when I go on live chat it makes me create a “ticket” which doesn’t get responded too. Please sort this out forest.

Forced to use Forest as Council has just changed provider. Used them for first time this morning with my partner for 2 trips of 1.25 miles each. I had to go to 7 bikes to be able to get 2 rides. In order it was flat tyre, loose saddle, broken handlebar, blocked for maintenance and would not initiate. At least I got my rides for.free under the 30 minute initial offer. My wife was charged £4.99 for her two rides when they should have been free (which was more than Lime would have been). Forest seems to be more concerned with selling advertising than user experience. The sad thing is, there is no choice so the experience will only get worse over time.

It is INSANE how quickly this company become so shit. There isn't a single human left, which is still more than functioning bikes.

My Forest account was used to purchase a £7.99, 70 minute forest pass on the 15th of July. While I could unlock and ride my bike for appx 20 minutes, I was unable to end the ride. I tried to call forest immediately via the app and no one picked up my phone -- I was told that due to an error in the app no phone calls were being accepted.
I promptly submitted TWO requests about the app bugging out, Bug #64821 and Bug #68450. I assumed that my ride would end after submitting a bug report.
However, my credit card has just been debited £35. My inability to end the ride was due to the app glitching. I have sent around 4 emails, tried to call the customer service various times, submitted bug reports via the app -- all to no avail. No one is responding to me. Horrendous service.
