Every week you'll be contacted by fake "Intermedia" phishing attempts that the real Intermedia neglects to block
We've been with Intermedia for over a decade and have faced the same persistent issue- poor spam filtering. The system consistently fails to block (or even label) emails impersonating Intermedia itself. You’d expect that an email from a suspicious address claiming to be from "Intermedia" would be filtered or at least flagged, but many get through untouched.
When we get past the 1st level support that tells us to block each spammer manually one by one, Intermedia occasionally acknowledges the problem, if they don't just blame us for not purchasing a more expensive filtering tier. They’ve said they take fake Intermedia phishing seriously, but all they seem to do is low effort passing of reports to a third-party spam filtering vendor.
I've offered many full phishing samples over the years. Using the online outlook they gave us, we have no one click way to block or report spam- We have to log into the admin portal with 2FA, navigate through multiple menus, and copy-paste addresses into a block list deep in the site.
We’ve also learned, after years of using the Outlook on the web interface they provided, that marking messages as junk does nothing. Worse, it sends a “report” email from our own address, which gets flagged as outbound spam. So for years, we’ve been wasting time right-clicking and flagging spam, thinking it helped, when it may have put us on spam filtering black lists! Our company's sales receipts and other important emails going to customers' spam has cost us many thousands in potential sales.
Raising the spam filter sensitivity is also not a real solution. It results in blocking messages from people inside our own company, contacts we've communicated with daily for years. The filter doesn’t recognize the difference between obvious spam vs long-term collaborators. Sorry for this narrow complaint- I guess the rest of the service is well implemented and solid. Other reviews say it's reliable, although I saw some mentions of poor spam filtering. For an email that is very not free, the spam filtering should be smarter than what we get with free email services. Thanks.

These guys thrive on charging their partners for free demo account. I signedup as partner, they told me I must create a free demo account, I did, and after first month of having the account I was charged almost $40, and guess what, all the itemized charges show these are for administrative fees, and taxes but mostly administrative fees while I didn't use the demo account.

I am exhausted from 18 voice
I am exhausted from 18 voice, email, live chat and online requests to cancel month to month voice and SMS services for my law firm for which I was billed more than my salesperson promised to begin with. Do not use intermedia for voice. You can never ever ever disconnect it. They will exhaust you with games.

Do not recommend them.
I was with them for a few years. Service is very mediocre. Prices are very high. Would not recommend them. I moved to a different provider at a much lower cost and with much better service.
Update after response from Intermedia:
I tried to work with you on your pricing but you didn’t budge. Also, when a client asks for something to be done, your staff should create the ticket. Don’t make the client open a ticket and go through all the screens. I, as a client, am unfamiliar with your internal systems. Your staff should be trained and be able to do it in a fraction of the time.

Intermediate is the most amazing…
I have a business colleague who had a problem with intermedia, I have reached out to them to provide me with the president of the company's cell phone number. Once I get that number I'll post it on my updated review. It's sad to say but you don't get any response from this company unless you go to these measures. So, before writing this little narrative I read all the one star reviews . I have to tell you , as much as it pains me , everything that the one star reviews are saying is absolutely spot on! Intermediate is the most amazing company. They absolutely are concierge service, the sales people that sell you the service explain everything about the service, the technical support the reliability of the service, and lastly they hold your hand through the process as business owners don't always have time to set up phones or deal with technical support. It's kind of like buying a brand new Audi. They sell you the car they walk you through the buying process and make sure you know exactly what you're getting and provide a world-class product. Any issues with the car they respond immediately and make it right as they have a brand to protect. Now, intermedia did not get this memo. I won't get into all the nuances of what happened I won't tell you what a nightmare their technical support team is to deal with I won't go into the lack of knowledge when it comes to dealing with clients and or fixing problems. I won't even go into their billing issues which is outsourced to an automated system. Just like all of their technical support which I have recorded and am planning on posting on Twitter as I find people might a chuckle out of it. Long and the short of it it's like talking to a parrot. The company president who runs the day-to-day operations and or delegates things to people has signed off on all of this. He is well aware of all these issues but is very focused on the bottom line. I am privy to his home phone number, yes and if I don't get a response to this with a full refund it would be my absolute pleasure to publish it. I think if some of you look hard enough you can find it. He is, after all responsible for the company and for the clients satisfaction when dealing with a brand he is stamped his name on. I live in a world where when I tell people I'll do something I do it. I don't defer things to management, turned a blind eye to problems only look at the balance sheets at board meetings, spend hours on the golf course and and live a life of luxury at the expense of the people I'm taking advantage of. I wouldn't know if this is the case with the CEO of intermedia. However I can assure you of one thing, Michael Gold, and that's a great name, has little concept of anything going on within his company. They have outsourced pretty much everything, purchase the absolute cheapest phones made in China and sell them with glamorous pictures on their website. Promising you the world, the best in customer service, the best technical support, an awards given to them from whomever and whenever. However there is one small problem all of this is smoking mirrors. I really hate to say this, but 90% of what you get when you're sold by intermediate on their services is like buying a used car from a Salesman who has no idea what are you selling you. If it would help, I would recommend you go online and look at some of the reviews and actually call some of the people who have left the reviews and see what their experience has been. This is a for-profit company, as it should be but they are not a for the customer company. I'm sure this reality hurts, but having somebody that work for the company tell me what exactly is the deal, a 4-Hour plane ride to California, and several drinks on the plane and people tend to tell you things that they normally wouldn't tell you. In other words, they spilled all the dirt. Could I tell you this person was, no but I can tell you that most everything they told me was spot on from my experience. His parting words were and I quote they don't care about one thing but the bottom line. I recommend if you canceled service with them, it's highly likely they violated their contract. I can't say this equivocally because everything is a case by case basis. However, I will be asking for a full refund. I would recommend you do the same or pursue other remedies to encourage them to do so.
