Disappointing experience – equipment not suitable for our event

We hired Karaoke Hire Stars’ Hire Set 2 for our annual summer party which was being held for the learning-disabled adults we support. Our clients were really looking forward to having karaoke as part of their party.

Unfortunately, when the equipment arrived and we tested it, we experienced significant problems. The microphones repeatedly cut in and out, there was persistent and excessive feedback even at relatively low microphone and speaker levels, and the overall sound quality was poor. We were unable to achieve a usable volume without significant feedback, and when the levels were reduced enough to control the feedback, the system was simply too quiet for our event.

We contacted Karaoke Hire Stars immediately, provided a video demonstrating the problems and followed the troubleshooting advice they gave us. Despite this, we were not able to get the system working to a standard that we felt was suitable or reliable enough to use in front of our clients. We therefore had to return the equipment without using it at the event, and unfortunately our clients missed out on the karaoke they had been looking forward to.

To their credit, Karaoke Hire Stars acknowledged that we had experienced the difficulties shown in our video, that we had reported them promptly and that we had attempted their troubleshooting. After the equipment was returned, they tested it and said they were unable to reproduce all of the problems we had experienced. They nevertheless offered us a 50% refund as a goodwill gesture.

We have accepted the 50% refund because we don’t have the time to spend going back and forth over the matter, although we believe a full refund would have been the appropriate resolution given that the equipment was not usable for the purpose for which we hired it and was returned without being used at our event.

I would therefore advise anyone hiring this equipment for an important event to test it very thoroughly before the day and make sure that it performs adequately for their particular venue and requirements.

I am sharing this review simply to give an honest account of our experience.

Got let down by another supplier and found this company. They got something out next day and it was perfect. There is a QR code, so all of my guests were able to browse songs and add them to the queue from their own devices. Great night, good communication and would definately reccomend.
