I purchased 3 cast iron lights from The Lighting Room and unfortunately had to return them. What followed was one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've had.

Because the lights are made of cast iron, they are extremely heavy. With no free returns offered, the postage cost alone was significant — something worth knowing before you buy. I no longer had the original packaging, as I hadn't planned to return them, and this became the crux of the issue.

The company refused to issue a full refund, citing the absence of the original boxes as their reason. Despite the lights being returned in brand new, completely unfitted condition — which their own photographs confirm — they insisted on applying a 25% restocking fee. In my view, penalising a customer for not keeping packaging is unreasonable, particularly when the goods are undamaged and in a perfectly resaleable state.

I would urge anyone considering a purchase to be aware of their returns policy before buying, especially for heavy items where return postage is costly and original packaging is non-negotiable for a refund.

I had a great experience buying from this website. The chandelier I ordered was around £100 cheaper than the same item from other retailers, so I was really pleased with the price.

Delivery took a little longer than expected, but the customer service was excellent. They replied to my emails very quickly and were always helpful whenever I had a question.

Similar to another reviewer, I also had a negative experience with Lighting Room.
Poor, borderline rude customer service, lengthy delays that were not made as clear as they should have been.
When querying for an order update, I received no response twice. The order turned up today directly from the manufacturer which is fine, but I'm disappointed I gave my custom to this company - would not recommend unfortunately.

Purchased a beautiful light from here. It arrived really quickly and was well packaged. The price was far cheaper than the same light for sale on other websites. I would purchase again.

Excellent customer service! The courier lost my parcel and they re-sent them to me immediately!! Wouldn’t hesitate to buy again. Really excellent customer experience!

My shade arrived with very slight damage- not awful but I could see it. I contacted Lighting room and within 2 hours they had agreed to replace it. Excellent customer service!!

I purchased 2 wall lights and a ceiling light all fabulous, however when encountered some issues the customer service from the lighting room was second to none. Speedy response, no quibble attitude brilliant. Would highly recommend and a lot of other companies could learn a lot about great customer service from them thank you

Lighting Room had exactly the lampshades I was looking for and at a very competitive price.
The shades were well-packed to avoid any damage en route and my order was delivered several days after being placed. Excellent service.

Did not enjoy our experience with the lighting room. Lengthy delay in receiving item. Below standard customer service, where everything has a reason that is not their fault and for you to be understanding of that, eventually did not reply to emails. I am sure they are great, until things go wrong.

Excellent company to deal with. Customer Service is really good, queries answered really quickly. Delivery was fast and the lamp that I purchased was the best price on the internet. I would really recommend this company.

I am delighted with my lamps and shades, exactly what I was looking for. The service was prompt, ordered on a Sunday and had I been home, would have been delivered on the Tuesday, but I got them the next day. The lamps were packaged to a very high standard to avoid any damage and were very reasonably priced. All in all I would highly recommend the Lighting Room and would give ten stars if it were possible.

The glass pendant light I ordered arrived really quickly and very well packaged. Very pleased with my purchase.

Found the lights I wanted cheaper on this site than anywhere else, unfortunately one of the shades were cracked but customer service had this sorted and a replacement sent straight out. Brilliant customer service rare to find these days

I bought the Dar Boyd 3 light bar pendant. The price was very competitive and the service and delivery very efficient. Unfortunately, the parcel got dropped at some point on its way and when we unpacked it, one of the shades was cracked. A replacement shade was sent within 24hrs of me reporting this. I would not hesitate to recommend the Lighting Room - it’s rare you get such brilliant customer service.

I'm so impressed with this company and will definitely be buying from them again! I placed an order on 15th May and the lights arrived today (17th May). Not to mention Lighting room were the cheapest company for all 3 lights that we purchased after lots of thorough searching. Would highly recommend 👍

Lighting Room are fantastic.Their lights are stylish and very reasonable.Customer Care is second to none.I got badly stung by another company but this company are suberb to deal with.They answer emails promptly and very helpful.In fact I cannot praise them enough.They definitely do appreciate your custom.Well done Jo and the team.
