The worst service I have experienced from a Solicitor firm. As someone who has used solicitors for the purchase of properties in the past, this was the worst experience. No duty of care for their clients and no expertise when dealing with off-plan property purchase. How can a solicitor act of behalf of the buyer and seller and favor the seller in every stage of the process. I am one of 80+ other people who have experience this along with data leakage verified with other buyers via transactions with Portus Group,(Solomon, ES1 etc)

We received first class service from Locking solicitors, right from first contacting an advisor via chat. An appointment was requested for an ID1 form to be signed and witnessed, for my wife. A message was left at the York office for Will Bagley to contact us, to arrange an appointment. Will, contacted us very quickly, and kindly offered an appointment to suit us, therefore changing his planned schedule. Will was polite, knowledgeable, and has a brilliant personality. He makes you feel comfortable and very relaxed, as if you have known him for years. Both my wife and I were very impressed with Locking solicitors overall, including the receptionist ladies, who answered our initial phone calls. They are a very organised business, and will not disappoint people requiring their assistance.

Totally echo the 1-star reviews covering Lockings involvement with Solomon and Empire developments. The people in this company should be ashamed of themselves - no morals, no ethics, no pulse. Pure greed and avarice.
Unless you enjoy being part of a process which is ruining peoples lives, just get another job!

They having been working for a property investment company, who have ripped off many buyers.

I have never been in a situation where a solicitor will not check that a buyer can get a mortgage in principle before exchange of contracts.

This is because the properties are overinflated and you cannot get a mortgage.

Then when you rescind, due to the development being delayed years and potentially not even built, they ask for more money, and don't even get you money back.

Working on behalf of Solomon was a very bad idea for you.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS FIRM
I did not choose Lockings for the conveyancing team to work on my off plan purchase. It would be an understatement to call this company incompetent. From start to finish the level of communication was extremely poor. The list is too long but one that stands out is their failure to properly register my flat with the Land Registry. I had to personally get involved and I'm glad that I did. The Land Registry told me they have had issues with Lockings using emails instead of the correct procedures that all Conveyancers should be able to follow. Their incompetence further delayed my mortgage application. To add insult to injury, the lead Conveyancer, Angela decided to stop responding to my calls and emails and had Paralegals deal with her workload. Avoid this company unless you are a massacist and enjoy pain.

1. Inadequate due diligence.
2. Lack of prompt response to emails, if any at all.
3. Disengaged employees.
4. Instead of maintaining the same contact person, they change solicitors.
5. It seems like they prioritize the counterparty's perspective rather than actively assisting me.

On a property investment transaction, had the misfortune of dealing with these bunch of incompetent, negligent jokers who claim to be solicitors acting on your behalf.

In reality, they seem to be hand in glove with Solomons Investment Partners and Empire Property Concepts, which incidentally is run by a chap involved as a Director in upwards of 80 companies.

Solomons insisted on using Lockings as solicitors for the transaction. Now we understand why.

Lockings favorite tactic when questioned about anything is to copy and paste a para from contract that is ambiguous and say 'we told you so'.

Hundreds of lives have been destroyed by these
absolutely immoral, unethical bunch of crooks from Lockings, Empire Property and Solomons.

Stay away.

Horrible service regarding their dealings with Solomon investment partners. Our 40k I gone and Lockings have no response.
Stay clear.
